Weird to say after a sweep, but I’m proud of this team. All we had to do was take a step forward this year and we instead we took a leap.
Champs aren’t made overnight, you gotta take your lumps. I’m glad were getting ours, the team will be better for it. Look at the team that just beat us for example. Still a lotta of growing to do, but the arrow is shooting up. Thanks to the Pacers for a fun season, and thanks to Tony for great coverage. Boom baby.

As a Celtics fan you guys definitely have so much to be proud of this year. So much potential and still so young, I wouldn’t be surprised if our teams match up a number of times in the future.
And trust me from watching mostly every game since Tatum and brown have been together, you guys will have major ups and downs in the coming years. It’s super hard to do in the moment, but try to enjoy this team’s growth and the relationships the players build with your fan base. Before you know it players you loved for years could be traded so enjoy their presence and the work they put in for your team. Again congrats on the year and should definitely be optimistic on the future!

From a Celtics fan... no, not weird at all. Some playoff series can be accurately summarized in that single line on the team summary page. But "Celtics beat Pacers 4-0" tells us nothing about this one. I've seen series go 7 that weren't half as competitive as this one.
Pacers are going to be an absolute handful the next few years.

What went wrong is that as the Playoffs progressed Myles Turners Legs and Back just became too worn out. He wasn't able to be a force. They need to trade him and get a Center that's more reliable. A player that can be durable. Be a force that will #1 rebound. Then guard the rim and give some points. With Benedict Muthurin coming back that's all they really need. They need to pay Pascal to stay as well.

Pacers played aggressive and with heart. Bunch of your guys drove me nuts- McConnell, Nembhart(?), Obi Topin-It shows they are true NBA players ready to step in and succeed when called upon. Add a great two way wing.
    Mikal Bridges!
We can't hold on to two starting points. We will lose one of them. So trade one while you can. Can we leverage Nembhard to get Mikal? Not without giving up a lot, and hoping for a sign and trade. Ty and a second for Mikal and a first.
I feel the same about this as I did about trading Sabonis instead of Myles. The difference in trade value is much greater than the difference in floor value. Mathurin needs to start between two good defenders. TJ needs a rotation spot. Nembhard needs to start. Nesmith needs to go from adequate starter to fantastic backup.
Love Hali, what a great guy!... but this trade fixes everything. Makes both teams better.

Speaking to the Jalen Brown foul on T.J.. He did hit him in the face. I didn't think it was a flagrant 2 but there was no doubt in my mind that it would have been a flagrant 1. Maybe I'm wrong about this and don't know the NBA rules. Brown received a technical earlier in the game for shoving Myles. My thought at the time of that foul on T.J. not getting called a flagrant, would have been the 2nd technical foul on Brown sending him packing for the game. I don't know if flagrant fouls count as a technical but if they do then the refs purposely didn't call that a flagrant in order to keep Brown in the game. I don't know if Brown getting tossed at that time would have changed the outcome or not but there would have been no doubt the refs interfered with the process of the game.

Good discussion about the Pacers future. If they keep Pascal, they are in win now mode. But if he goes elsewhere, they are back in build mode. If Pascal comes back, Pacers best assets to trade are Mathurin, Walker, and Myles expiring contract. That would position them to get one more wing which they need to beat the Celtics.

  • @johnraub2207
    @johnraub2207 5 месяцев назад

Tony, thoughts on this off-season: 1. Walker and Mathurin in rotation. Mathurin starts at 2 guard. Walker off bench can play multiple positions 2. Resign Pascal. 3. Sign OG Anunoby. 4. Bench is Walker, Naismith, Nembhard, Jackson, Toppin, TJ, Shephard. 5. Let Jalen Smith, McDermott walk. 6. Turner, unless the Pacers change how they play defense, he is a liability on that end. He was exposed badly in Celtics series. As good as he is on offense, not sure what to do with him with one year left. They must improve on POA defense, have offensive sets for end of game. You need a top wing defender to slow the Celtics, if not OG, they need to find someone.

We learned that drew is a stud. He may end up the best player on this team before everything is said and done. He needs to come off the bench as the primary ball handler/scorer. It's time for Benedict to take the next step and start at the 2, unless we can make a miracle move like signing PG then move Nesmith to the 2 and PG to the 3. Ben and Drew off the bench would be nice. That would mean trading turner for cap relief, but at this point who cares. He has a game here and there, but mostly disappears and gets out rebounded by guards. Ijax can take that spot.
    Tyrese
    Nesmith
    P George
    Siakam
I jax (or a cheap vet center)
    I'll take that 5.
Drew, shep, mathurin and hopefully jarice off the bench (TJ might be a cap casualty in the PG scenario) but it you keep him also..man we dangerous
