Thanks! Should be a great focal length to pair up with the 35mm. You should be set for most stuff until you need specific telephoto shots. Most FF wide angles this fast are pricy
Was looking for a wide lens with fast aperture but all i found were the above the 1k range or they had less Features like manual Focus. Now i found my next lens that i will buy. Love the look of the video it gives a pretty chill vibe.
Great video! High quality, informative and a nice chill vibe that made me stick around! note: the reason some 3rd party and even cheaper 1st party lenses doesn't have the rubber gasket is that it's not just the mount that needs to be sealed. Every opening of the lens, buttons, swithes, focus rings, zoom rings etc also needs to be sealed. Seing the gasket around the mount is a nice way to see that the whole lens is sealed :) Once again, great Video! Cheers!
I have been eyeing on the wider lens for a while now and wow, this lens is just the right lens for me! Thanks for the awesome review, this lens will be in my purchase list!
Hi Victor, great video. In your intro, the car shot, the yellow and green lighting was done all in post or there were some lights inside the car? Cheers!
I just found your channel through the Sony zv 10 video because I just got one and I’m trying to figure out how to use an expensive camera 🙃. Incredible video! But how did you get that shot from you driving?
nice video! really liked the reference footage, one question though, where do you get that orangey red title? I always see it everywhere and I love it, thanks :)
Now that you have used the a6700, which camera would you choose for pro hybrid work and content creation; a6700, A7IV, or A7CII ? I currently just own a Ricoh GRIIIx, a camera which sparked my creativity once again. But i now want to continue pursuing a career in photo/video/cinematography. I'm kinda leaning towards the A7CII but some things make me think the a6700 is actually better. Like even the image/video quality just seems better in some comparisions. I like traveling light and for that matter the a6700 would be a tool which could basically fill all my needs even in low light, but a part of me thinks that would it be better to invest a little bit more and get a full frame (thus kind of future proofing my work?) But then again, seen all the comparisions and the 'full frame capabilities' in the a7cii just don't really seem like a big difference, and sometimes i even think the a6700 takes better photos and videos. Idk, it's a tough call to make when i can't have them both to compare in my own hands with a buncha different lenses... So, as far as i know you probably havent got your hands on the a7cii yet but what is your opinion between a6700 / A7IV ? (because a7cii is supposedly the a7iv in a compact body) Sometimes in low light the a6700 seems noisier but sometimes not. I'm not sure why, maybe it's in the post processing noise reduction? TLDR; I'm feeling technically drawn to the A7Cii but my heart tells me that a6700 is somehow just better AND more value of a camera.
I'd choose the A7IV especially if you're doing pro work. While I only record in one SD card slot most of the time, having two card slots and simultaneous recording would be really helpful. Also full HDMI on the A7IV is great. Image quality wise, you're gonna get very similar results in these three cameras. a6700 being a bit harder to film on low light but it's easier than previous APSC. For pro work, always invest in the right tools. If you're just doing social media content, a6700 is the best value.
I have the 16-35 GM I. but I might sell my G 20mm f1.8 for this lens... I shoot a lot of indoor stuff, DJs at night etc... and I usually use my G 20 1.8 and my GM 35 1.4 but this would be a better match for the 35 I believe.
It looks like a great option for a lens. Would like to see it compared to the sony 20mm 1.8 as thats what im tossing up between. But you may have convinced me!
I think if you want the best of the best Sony lenses would be it! the viltrox is wider and almost as good as the sony though so it depends on what you need!
I wanted that 20mm focal length but with active stabe + catalyst or dynamic stabe you pretty much get that with the Viltrox 16mm and it looks so much fun!
oh no!!! hope it's in the return window!!!! lol never used the 13mm (that's the one you got right?) but I'm sure it's got good performance as well similar to this FF version!
To be honest, atm there is no competition, is really sharp, no distortion which is crazy as a 16mm lens, u will not get anything better at this price and its only f1.8
Has anyone had any problems with autofocus? In my case, pretty bad. The lens has micro out-of-focus shifts every 2 seconds on the A7Siii even in really good lighting conditions and I've already tested it at all F-stop ranges! Also, Viltorx so far does not update this lens at all with firmware! I am very disappointed with this lens!
Email their support! Haven’t had issues with the a7iv fx3 A7Cii and the fx6 with it! Have you tried yours with a friend’s camera? See if it persists! If it does, it’s the lens problem. If not, it’s the firmware !
This lens is so much fun! Have you shot on an ultra wide angle before?
;)
Viltrox has been on a crazy roll lately. And that no focus breathing is incredible.
RIGHT?! super impressed with this one.
viltrox is for ours
Thanks for the review. The intro was cool. Feel convinced I should choose this lense as my second full frame lens. My first is Sony FE 35mm f1.8.

Thanks!! Glad you enjoyed the chill vibe! That's definitely good to know. Would love to see more 3rd party lenses do it just a peace of mind!!

it's been fun with this lens! Definitely my go to wide angle now
i love wide angle FF. i started playing with the 10-20mm APS-C lens on my a7iv. looks crazy.
Right?! You can get crazy weird angles too! So fun man.
I really need this lens. It's output is amazing
for the price, it's such a steal. Love it!
i was searching for a ultrawide angle lens and bought this lens yesterday because of you haha.
I’m glad! You can’t go wrong with these!! I love em
My guy, always got the vids I need. Likely buying I need a wider angle these days! Thnx for the great content as usual bro!
🙌🏽🙌🏽 this is by far my fave wide angle! Great reliable AF for productions as well
Ahh, I just loveeee your cinematic videos man.
Happy to hear that man! Thanks!
@ 7:50 literally everything I wanted to hear,! thanks for an awesome review! huge fan of your work!
Thank you brother! Viltrox is making it hard to beat right now in terms of quality and price. So good.
Hi victor, love the video! What font do you use in your video??
Nt Wagner!
Hi Victor, great video. In your intro, the car shot, the yellow and green lighting was done all in post or there were some lights inside the car? Cheers!
Just a fill light inside the car! The rest are outside lights !

Adore! Enjoy your cinematic reviews ✨
Thanks Alex!!! Always a pleasure making em!!
This is going to be my next purchase for sure...Looks pretty amazing!!
Doesn't disappoint!! hopefully it's solid long term!!
I see you have a7. What is the use of it now that you have a7iv? just curious 😊
I love the intro bro
Thank you dude!! means a lot coming from you!!
nice video! really liked the reference footage, one question though, where do you get that orangey red title? I always see it everywhere and I love it, thanks :)
It’s the nt Wagner font!
@@VictorLaforteza yep that's it, thank you
Ordered this lens, can’t wait! Question, how did you mount the camera in the car?
I used the Ulanzi f38 suction mount!
@@VictorLaforteza I can't find it, is that F22?
9:52 Hey Victor, So its been a year how's the lens so far is it still worth it?
Yep!! It’s my go to wide angle !!

Great video man! where do you find your luts?
Very quality job.
I already pre order this lens in Europe 3 week ago...!
great
The lens is amazing! And thanks! They’re available on my website vgstudio.co/presets
What about overheating issues with this len?
I don't know if you answered this but does active stabe work on this lens?
Yup!
Did you use Catalyst browse or a Gimbal in the shots? Thanks.
tripod, gimbal, handheld with in body stabilization! No catalyst browse :)
@@VictorLaforteza thank you
another solid vid brader!
salamat broski!!! definitely had fun with it!
great review as always!!
maaan 3rd party lenses are getting better 🥳
Thanks!! and RIGHT?! I was impressed by their 50mm 1.8 before but this one just takes it up a notch for budget FF lenses.
I’m heading to Mexico City this year and I def need a wide angle lens. Does this record gyro metadata for catalyst browse?
Yeah man!! Just tried it again on the a7iv and works on catalyst browse.
@@VictorLaforteza my goal is to not use a gimbal lol
@@FilmedbyFresh yeah, it's the next best thing brother!
did you use a tripod for sample footage? Many thanks
Yup! Absolutely

Yup! Film grain and print film emulation Kodak 2383
That’s a crazy intro
thanks dude! that was fun to make!
loved it ❤
thank you!
is this a good vlog lens?
1001%!!
at 0:21 th sec did you shoot at 24 frames 4k ? i didnt see roling shutter when u quickly turned
Yup! You see less rolling shutter in wider angles actually.
What's that font you used? The one with yellow and orange
nt wagner
u have no idea what is like to vlog with 16mm 2.8 RF lens ... its tiny for a full frame camera ... i have, i used it all the time and i love it ...
I wish Sony had a version of that. The Sony 16mm f2.8 is only for apsc.
Hi I can't find the One click lut on your website?
It's replaced by the Sunset film lut pack :) It's actually included in there with the creative lut pack.
@@VictorLaforteza Thank you will check it out
Oh course they'd come out with a full frame wide after I bought the crop lens. lol
oh no!!! hope it's in the return window!!!! lol never used the 13mm (that's the one you got right?) but I'm sure it's got good performance as well similar to this FF version!
Is this a good lens for talking head videos?
Yes 100%
@@VictorLaforteza thank you bro,
what a sexy lens!
definitely is!!
I purchased this its a great lens but its just too heavy for my liking to just vlog
The lens looks so great! Would be a great lens for the fx30 for that 24mm look👌
especially if you want to use it in FF in the future! it'll be super good!
whats the songs genre :) thanks
the intro is retro / vintage on musicbed. The rest are chill / lounge / lofi
To be honest, atm there is no competition, is really sharp, no distortion which is crazy as a 16mm lens, u will not get anything better at this price and its only f1.8
I'm hoping this is a good start for other manufacturers to get on this focal length. Sony or Sigma should compete with this guy
If you own a Sony and don't buy it and you're into video then that's concerning. It's the best overall wide angle lens.
Amen to that brother
👏👏👏
Just waiting for the Nikon Z release......
I think they're releasing it within in the next few months!
that tiny screen just pulls of more of my battery mann
that's true.... I want that battery power for more filming instead!!
