According to Ayurveda, calming and soothing the nervous system is a requirement for the maintenance and balancing of one's health. There are numerous time-tested strategies to calm and soothe the nervous system that I will discuss in this article.
Stress of all kinds, whether it is mental, emotional, physical or even spiritual, can have a negative impact on one's health. When the nervous system is overwhelmed or under excess stress, the body is designed to adapt and compensate for this stress - but only for short periods of time. Excessive stress, which seems to be the new normal in today’s culture, can easily overwhelm, breakdown and prematurely age the body.

Love it, John! Very useful tips! As someone who suffered from vata aggravation multiple times I can attest that these techniques actually work to restore balance. Vata being the king of doshas requires daily, disciplined care. It can also be difficult to bring it back under control.. it can take months and longer which is why so many people give up prematurely. Again, the tips can be highly beneficial in resolving so many disorders / diseases.

Thank you SO much, can't thank you enough, for taking the time to explain "in western terms" why so many ayurvedic practices help human health. Example: oil massage, done with (loving) attention, raises your oxytocin. WOW this SO motivates me to do it right (with proper intention and care). I for sure want oxytocin, such a beautiful beautiful part of being human and mammal. Other explanations also very much appreciated. May I add 2 more fascinating / related findings?
i will add, it isn't only the gut microbiome involved in 'picking up environmental cues. The "mitochondria" scientist gurus out there are also sharing breaking science on how the mitochondria's happiness is 'sensed' by the microbiome in the gut and vice versa, they communicate with each other -- after all the mitochondria are bacteria too, that symbiotically evolved with the human/mammal cell. (btw, mitochondria are happiest in NATURAL sunlight and they NEED greens (Chlorophyll) to be happy and function properly and regenerate their vital indigenous CoQ10).
This is all becoming mainstream and SO fascinating. We humans are like a Planet, with these "populations" of organisms that want to live together in harmony, and knowing this is useful in achieving harmony.
Also nose breathing has been shown in literature to increase nitric oxide, the "micro-capillary dilator". Apparently N.O. is made in the nasal passage, and nose breathing activates it -- something like that. This was in reputable peer-reviewed paper.
This info (and references) are in a Y.T. video on mitochondrial happiness by YT channel Aspergers versus Neurotypicals.
Keep up the great channel! Thanks a million.

I wonder if taking herbs to clean the lymphatic system then is a good way to treat brain problems. Like I wonder if taking red clover or dandelion tea to clean the lymph would also result in the brain being clearer. It seems the key to brain health is healthy lymph. Would this help people who get headaches from an accumulation of brain chemicals at the head of the spinal column? I heard this is what causes some people to have severe headaches. If I eat something toxic like GMO food this will happen to me and no headache remedy will help it.
I like this information because it gets me thinking. I am going to try to breathe out of my nose more. I usually don't because of sinus congestion.

@@marloettien7697 Ionic foot bath systems have been debunked...the salts react with the arrays and create rust. The bubbly crud is NOT toxins from your body! Movement is the ONLY way to stimulate the Lymphatic system since they do not have their own "pump".

Pallavi Mehta try craniosacral therapy. Works like a charm! May need a few sessions but it REALLY works. I know from experience and being stuck in figh or flight mode. That was the only thing that was effective and permanent enough for me.

@@smr2198 hey thanks. I tried craniosacral it calmed me down but then my sympathetic nervous system reacted badly and caused tinnitus in my ears. The response is very strong and I feel my sympathetic nervous system is not letting any therapy work but it feels some danger thats why its not letting me stay calm.

Pallavi Mehta I did get pain behind my ears after a few sessions which went away after a few more. I think it’s the system balancing out. No ringing though but definitely pain behind my ears. I am still doing the therapy. It’s taken about 10 sessions to get me back to normal but I’ve had triggers that have regressed me in some situations. But then I go have a situation and it’s like miracle work for me. I do a session about every 3 weeks to a month.

Thanks for your video. I have interstitial cystitis and not only does this disease cause me a lot of anxiety and stress, as with most chronic pain conditions but it also prevents me from sleeping deeply. I usually wake up every hour with bladder pain and urgency. I'm interested in trying your techniques to calm my nervous system ( especially since the nerves in IC bladders tend to be up regulated and overreactive, and stress and cause me to hold tension in my pelvic floor muscles which triggers bladder flares). Wondering though, if you have any sleeping tips for me? I feel that it might be impossible to truly calm my nervous system with a healthy sleep cycle but I can't imagine how to sleep through the pain and urgency signals from my bladder.... unlike other kinds of pain it is a particularly "nagging", brain- alerting pain which I can't figure out how to quiet when I'm asleep. I seem to cope with the pain a bit better when I'm awake. Also trying acupuncture and saunas... but overall my brain feels so exhausted and I'm pretty depressed to be in this state. I can't imagine living the rest of my life like this and yet I can't really picture how I might make it better, thanks very much.

      Hi Danielle
Just wanted to reach out as to you as it sounds like your going through a lot!
As I'm an Ayurvedic health consultant based in the UK (and a huge fan of the Dr's! )
I just wanted to let you know that it is 100% possible for your to heal yourself from what you are experiencing,
through the natural wisdom & powers of Ayurveda! -
In Ayurveda, interstitial cystitis is known as a "Vata-Pitta" disorder - which is essentially too much "heat" in the body - which is causing the symptoms you have of over frequency of your bladder and disturbing your sleep cycle .
Ayurveda addresses the root cause of imbalance and works to each and everyones individual mind-body type.
Plus, offers SO many practical tools through diet & lifestyle and effective home remedies and herbs to bring you back into balance, naturally.
I highly recommend looking into having a consultation with a certified Ayurvedic Dr or practitioner like Dr.Douillard OR searching for one locally in your area that comes well recommend.
Alternatively, I would be more than happy to have a chat about how I may be able to help via an online consultation.
You can find my facebook page at: facebook.com/liveloveayurveda
Best of luck to you Danielle and don't give up the journey to healing yourself!
