Such intensity! Grieg, the cellist Jian Wang, the pianist Anastasia Injushine; the audience was motionless and the concert hall other-worldly. Good to know there is such a world out there.
Beautiful sonata and impressive rendition. Love the rich spectrum of the tone produced by the cellist and pianist which is beyond that of the hair appears on the stage.
Hi Jian! Glad to hear you play this! Very beautifully, may I add ! Thank you for making the Frescobaldi, Monn album - I was so glad to find it as a DGG recording after we'd talked about those selections ! Thanks for putting those, including the Couperin, together on your album. I look forward to crossing paths again in the future~. You should come to Baton Rouge - LSU, or play for the LPO in New Orleans. I'll bring up your name! Carol - from the days of Rutgers!
This great music shakes me! Makes me feell sad , loved and powerful! The sweetest voice of cello and piano can be herd here so easly ! this is an amazing piece! Grateful !
Hello there. What a superb performance. I love the way Jian Wang played this piece with that intensity and he played with such clarity, as well as the emotional flow. This performance really inspires me, since currently I'm working on this sonata as well. To whom it may concern, I have one question regarding the coda in the first movement, right before Prestissimo. He played the sixtuplets with double stops which might not make it sound sixtuplets. Is there any musical judgment to that interpretation? Thanks.
Quel superbe sonate transposée du violon ( par Grieg ? ) jouée par deux artistes passionnés . on remarque par ailleurs que le violoncelliste a choisi la pique Tortelier comme l'a longtemps fait Rostropovitch !
LIke the music and the performance, and love the cavern auditorium. I wonder what the acoustics are like for the audience - the recording is excellent.. Where is it? Oh, I've checked below, i thought it might some rocky part of Finland. Indeed, it's the famous church in Helsinki.
Edvard Grieg - Cello Sonata in A minor, Op. 36
1. - Allegro agitato: 0:00
2. - Andante molto tranquillo: 9:17
3. - Allegro molto e marcato: 15:50
One of the most beautiful sonatas in the cello repertoire. Performed with sensitivity and musicianship. Bravo!

王健好有儒者风范
9:20 to 11:00
Is the sound we are hearing his breathing? (seems like an aspiring sound every few seconds...)
If you hear a kind of "fffffff" it's the wood of the bow touching the strings
Especially in the beginning
But we can hear also hear his breathing
Not a great recording. Cello is buried in the mix
