Jonathan Bailey is an elegant, deeply thoughtful and talented man, I enjoy listening to his take on acting. His work in “Fellow Travelers” was extraordinary, and even as a gay man I was taken aback by the graphic nature of some of the scenes, my own internalized homophobia, I believe. I’m 54, came out initially at 26, but it took years before most co-workers or neighbors knew I was gay; living in the DC area and working in Defense contracting with so many Feds and Military staff, I knew even in 1996 that I had to proceed with caution. Stories like “FT” unfortunately remind us of currents of hatred or aversion towards people unlike ourselves, and how truly awful it can be for the ones identified as the “others.” Right now, it’s trans people, and we can’t let fear of them, or ignorance of their stories, be the reason the “villagers” come with their tiki torches, looking to take them away.
Fabulous actor & such a genuinely sweet & captivating person. I have tickets to watch him play Richard II live on stage in London in February 2025 & I can't wait!!! 🩷🩷
As a first-timer to CBS, This is sooooo American, to the point of caricature … he’s really cliff diving his own hard worked success story .. Hello from Hove, England, Britain.
In several interviews, Jonathan mentioned that he knew he was gay since he was 11. And he said he was outed when he was 14 years old. Although Jonathan realized his sexual orientation at 11, there was no one around him who was gay, and the media only portrayed being gay in a negative way. He didn't have anyone telling him that it was okay to be gay, which is why it took him longer to find the confidence to come out. Jonathan came out to his family and friends in his early 20s, and it's heartbreaking to think about the tough time he went through, even though he knew his sexual orientation from a young age. In another interview where he talked about heartstopper, he also mentioned how, as a gay teenager, he experienced falling in love, but he didn't have the words or the courage to express it. 😢😢 “Many! But the main one was the excitement, which takes me back to that joy, emotion, and magic of falling in love as a gay teenager. A special and scary time when I didn’t have the words or the courage to express what I was feeling.”
Surprised that they didn’t include 2 cliff diving facts (that I learned from following Molly): 1) There are scuba divers in the water who immediately swim towards each diver. If the dive is even slightly off-kilter during entry, the diver cause be knocked unconscious, immediately creating a drowning risk. The divers are there to immediately bring them to the surface if that happens. 2) The women’s platform is lower because of concerns regarding how the repeated impact stress on their bodies can cause damage to the pelvic region, resulting in problems during childbirth.
