For me golf is like playing a game of chess and playing the percentages and playing to ur strengths... To me that is what i enjoyed most is plotting my way around a course. You may not be able to play like a tour pro but you can think like one. Alot of times it's not ur swing that gets you in trouble it's the decisions you make.

@@mistahshorthitter Just so you know i was taking about golfers in general and not about any one person or ur self... Always liked what Tiger said he tried just as hard on first hole as he did on the last. Golf is such a mind game... A putt for birdie or eagle to a shot or putt for our best score or club championship.
It is still just a golf shot or putt. It only changes by how much importance we place it in our mind.
A 4 foot putt is a 4 foot putt.

Pick a point a few feet in front of the ball, that is in line with your target.. set the club face to that, rip it.. just takes a second to get the hang of it... works great at the range,to build that skill.m

The stats for me are a reality check. At 73, have resigned myself to the fact my drives will not be more than 185. Trying to compensate by dialing in wedges from 100 yds. It's my only chance to stay competitive on a 6000-yard course. Thank you.

Thanks for a great video. I have often thought about getting the app, but after seeing the video, I'm going to go ahead and do it. There's no doubt a lot can be gained from stats and trends. It's inevitable we'll lose ground on scratch players driving, I think, but we do make up for it with accuracy and on the greens. We'll see. :)
I was just talking to Tom about it. We filmed yesterday. The stats I showed in the video are just the tip of the iceberg. There is a ton of helpful information. I think after getting 6-7 rounds in, the data is going to be enlightening. Thank you Graham!
If watching how you break down your shots doesn't help your game, I don't know what will. Just watched you pretty much par out that nine with ease and confirmation of how I will be approaching my return.
I use the Arccos setup since 2014 and am one that is grandfathered into the subscription plan due to having the first and second generation adapters. They also changed their stats over to “strokes gained” but incorporate AI technology based off of your stats as a personal caddie! They’ve been doing that for some time now. Fantastic information that is really helpful especially if you play alone. I can’t wait to start my stats over for my new level of golf play.

I use a Shot Scope X5 with tags in my clubs. Everything is pretty much automatic. Just have to push "collect pin" after I hole out. That records my score for the hole, and GPS locates the actual pin position. This system seems slower with more user input required. It will be interesting to see how you like it after 8-10 rounds.

Played my first round of the year Sunday. Just played 9 due to loss of sunlight. Shot +8. Not bad. Goal this year is the same as last. Break 80. I average about 275-280 off the tee and you would beat me easily

I just shot a video that will change your mind 😆
So you're not really that short. You were 1.7 shots off a 1 hcp and .25 of that was putting which will always fluctuate around zero for you as you're pretty solid at it. you're losing 1.5 strokes off the tee over 18 holes so another 10 yards per hole and you'll most likely be zero or even gaining strokes hitting it 220 ish per hole. I think this proves that most of the 20 hcp players thinking they hit it 265 are talking bs!
The average 1 handicap drives the ball about 261 yards. The strokes gained/lost are affected by hitting in the fairway. I can't say how many 20 handicaps hit it 265 yards but I do know I've seen it. Some people say I'm short and others think I'm not. I do know when I play in qualifier I'm always the shortest in the group by at least 40 yards and sometimes 100 yards shorter than the longest in the group. I played one tournament with a guy who hit a 610 yard par 5 in 2 driver 7 iron!
He's a short hitter relative to his handicap but he's not a short hitter relative to most other handicaps.
