All ways good to see the progress that you've done on the plasma👍. I personally wouldn't run the plasma lead in the cable chain cause they recommend it to be 150mm away from the other leads. The Jasic cut 100 that i use is high frequency that is why i have hung my lead.

Yup, we are leaving it where it is for that very reason but some do run it in the chain ......odd

Thanks Rob, another interesting video. I like the idea of limit switches either end but I did see some where on RUclips the idea of having the rack slightly shorter than the bed so the pinion can't drive the axis of the bed which I thought was a good design if you wanted belt & braces.

      Hi Paul
Yeah, we considered that, but then there is the effect of losing steps, etc. Also, the inertia of my beam would be like an oil tanker 1/2 mile to stop 😆

@@robbroomfield468 Good point, hadn't thought about losing steps. Keep up the good work.

Rob, excellent video again, you are one clever guy. What are the parts for, I am guessing spiral stair treads

      Hi Dai
Um no....playground equipment so they can be put together in many different configurations. Including steps 😆.

Hi Rob my plasma table is working really well and very happy I found your build 👍
I’m now trying to fine tune the parameters and think I’m still off by a 1mm
Is there a setting to change in the open loop steppers motors I should make as iv not touched this part yet
How close should the table be? I would like 💯 accuracy or is this asking to much?? Just your thoughts would be very much appreciated
    Thanks

Hey glad you are getting there. Sorry for the delayed reply, I've had a stinking cough and it knocked me down a bit.
Anyhoo, off by a mm in what way? Dimensions? Square? I'll do my best to help

@@robbroomfield468 Iv managed to get it Square and it’s within a 1mm when cutting y and x
Iv got my parameters in the settings to 25.126 maybe it needs tuning again as when I set last time was to the mm in the Y and X but when cutting part it was off by 1mm in size
I’ll post some videos soon not put any floating head on yes and the ohmic sensor is not that good using the water bead

You may need to check your kerf. I don't rely on manufacturers for that. I do a cut and get the vernier out. It varies alot with amps and torch height. For instance....hypertherm suggest 1.5mm for xp45 at 44amps and 1.3mm height from work piece. That's way off as travel speed also plays a part. I look at it lime this 0.5mm of on kerf is 1mm out on piece. Just my 10 cents

brilliant work,, how are your table slats holding up as far as part tipups?

Absolutely fine. They get hit so rarely that they are all nearly as good as new. Even if they degrade a bit the THC will take care of it.

Hi Rob can you wire it in the Esop circuit?

      Hi David
You could but that may have other consequences. I may well test it. The collision detection should do more in my mind.

Trump laser use a air pressure switch which is piped in series on the laser head so if it gets knock it will stop, the 2 plates have a oring which are held by magnets, you are right that the collision detection should stop @@robbroomfield468
