2:56 you can actually use a USB pen or USB hard drive to increase storage. Once you plug it in, it will give option to use it as an internal storage of the xiaomi box. This will increase your Box storage greatly and all the new apps you download after this operation will be downloaded on the USB drive as it is now set as internal storage. BUT IT'S IMPORTANT TO NOTE: any USB drive you use like that, the device will ask you to fully format it and if you take it out to use on another device (eg PC) it will not work again. So you HAVE to use a USB drive that is empty or has no important files. Also a USB drive you don't mind leaving inserted in the box forever. If you want to move files (apps, movies, etc) from your laptop or phone, to the Box storage (USB), just use Bluetooth or file transferring app like "send file to TV" or just use a USB hub and use one port for the permanent USB and another for inserting another USB then you can copy files into the permanent USB but NEVER take the USB drive off once you set it as "internal storage". Otherwise you will lose all the apps you saved in it You can also use usb port to connect a USB to ethernet/LAN adapter in order to connect a LAN wire directly to the box👌
I still got the 1st Gen Xiaomi MiBox S 4k where the S/PDIF option is available. With this S/PDIF option enabled it is possible to have a 5.1 sound, but in the new 2nd Gen TvBox I have only passthrough option, auto and pcm. I can't get any 5.1 audio sound.
Hello sir, nice review. I have one question though can you please check with latest update, is SPDIF audio output option back now along with AUTO and PCM etc.
Hello, Do you know how to restart the box, with buttons on the remote? On the old version I could hold a power button and then it would show an icon for restart. But now it just turn of the box and TV.
I have a Gen 2. Haven't had issues with Apks. Installed 3rd party Apks like Smart Tube in place of RUclips. I used to have a nice File manager too but it's been deprecated so that didn't work.
@SydneyMugerwa good for you. Make sure it is the 2nd Gen device you have bcos you can only install apks through developers mode ADB and most of the time, the installed apps gets deleted on rebooting the device. This is very typical for Xiaomi 2nd Gen S Mi Box. Believe that!
@@YtPre-sn7xs I wanted to believe you mate. I went home and downloaded two apps. Slapped them on my USB drive but had issues seeing them on the Mi TV Box. I then used Send Files to TV. Installed them proper and they work fine. Switched off the TV at the mains and restarted. Apps are still there. I do have the original Mi Box, the 2nd Gen and Chromecast with Google TV. I have struggled to install 3rd party apps on Chromecast (still succeeded) First I'm hearing of your bug. Can share screenshots if you like.

very helpful! wanted to see the settings.
The only thing I wish the remote was rechargeable with usb c… this is probably my second favourite remote after Apple TV remote
For the price range i don't think one can get rechargeable remote. Even they have not provided AAA battery.
you can say that again

The SPDIF output issue that prevented connecting the Mi Box S to external speakers or soundbars has been addressed in the latest update.
@@DignitedTV Thank you, however please can you confirm can Dolby audio be passed with toslink cable to sound bar as in 1st gen.
@@DignitedTV This update is applied to Xiaomi Box S 2nd gen with google tv too right? Please confirm so that I can order this box peacefully.

I don't think that works anymore. Bugs me as well. I thought an update would fix that but it hasn't happened yet.

Hello, I have a similar device. The problem is that when I watch live broadcast channels in high quality, the picture is slow. Where is the problem?
how good is your internet?
can i use hospot from android phone?@@technovida1
It's almost impossible to install apks from unknown source on this 2nd gen device. The security patch is on another level. What a waste of beauty.
