    nice idea, if you want to make your own mayfly sandals, keep an eye out for yard signs in the trash or you can ask for them. they are the same material as the mayfly, just add cordage and your good to go. best yet it's FREE

    you could also use a tiny metal eyelet for the hole, to make it super strong and durable. If not, heat a nail and pierce the sole, as it melts a hole it will strengthen the hole sides for durability, but metal is best.

    nice!!! adding an elastic that would cross from the top side of the heel string to the front one with a hook or knot...would keep tension and keep it more secure but that's just an idea.
