Go to the oldest Forrest in your county,in your state and take a sample of thé soil (near thé oldest tree) and inoculate your compost with it.Good advice. Blessings from France !
Really liked this one, starting to get down to how things really work. I liked how he talked about plant being a part of a grate system. This past year l did a strawbale garden the red wigglers where all around the tomato roots . Straw bells are a lot like a Small Johnson sue With plenty of oxygen.
Ok so that blew my mind growing a cover crop on your Johnson su pile ofcourse i can’t believe I never thought of this I’ve got 6 piles on the go going to start cover cropping all of them your creating a more active eco system more roots which means more exudates waking up fungi that would of been inactive if there had been no roots you get more carbon out of your piles from the decaying roots and plant matter and exudates conserves water and the list goes on thank you for the content much appreciated.
Su works but after the heat process, I say. ASP or powered static aerated composting durning the heat process traps nutrient of gasses and insures full heat exposure, to 131f not just the center. Once it cools it’s then set as a SU.
My question now is could I get a diverse cover crop to grow on my Johnson su piles if anyone has any experience with planting covers on a compost pile please help me out
Wow, we need to hear more from this guy. I'd love to see a tour of his farms.
