Another great removal spell is Astarion's Thirst in this deck anything to beef up that commander! Also, I love killing elenda but do not like commander tax campfire and netherborn alter helps. My favorite combo is elenda and blade of selves it has a myriad effect but you have to sac due to the legendary rule but it triggers so much on your side!
I Think "Gift Of Immortality" is great here, decent protection for your commander. If you have a sac outlet you're at a minimum getting a 1/1 each players end step.
I may have missed it, but Animation Module with Elenda and Ashnod's Altar makes infinite sac triggers, colorless mana, and +1/+1 counters for Elenda, which can turn into infinite tokens if you want.
Thanks I hadn't seen that. Its cool because it goes infinite with phyrexian alter too, but less so. Mostly cool because its just a super synergistic card without them. I got to get one thanks.
I just made a deck with her. When I bought her, the guy at the store was like... are you sure she is worth it?... I'm like.. JUST SELL HER TO ME! she will be great once they make the right set. Well guess what? They did.
@@NitpickingNerds I just played a draft of this deck yesterday and it was great! Waiting on a few upgrades I ordered, but I found a couple awesome replacements in the meantime. Massacre girl is a sweet one-sided boardwipe that keeps elenda on the board if she has 1 counter to begin with. Divine visitation was also awesome and nightmare shepherd and reassembling skeleton did some work. Totally loving the deck!
I usually never struggle to make my deck higher power, but I always enjoy watching people make decks better through means that aren't making the land base more consistent or adding stuff like mana vault and crypt
My favorite finds for this deck were Lifeline and Tombstone Stairwell. Getting Elenda back every player's turn and forcing dozens of deaths per turn cycle can get out of hand almost immediately.
Life line is one of my personal favorites in the deck, gift of Immortality can have similar results. Both should synergies well with other parts of the deck too. You go a round the table sacrificing solumn simulacrum every turn your going to be in a good position.
Tombstone stairwell is so dang cool. Just fill up the graveyard and have fun combing on every players turn. Throw in corpse knight for the finishing touch!
So for splitting your basics and making some snow, I've found that having just one snow of each type is optimal IF you have the critical mass of fetches. Your fetch just becomes whichever you need. If you can't afford all the fetches then yeah 50/50 is better.
I have a dumb mono white combo that when someone swings for lethal I flash in selfless squire. On my turn I swing with it and entrapment maneuver on my giant selfless squire
When teysa came out I deconstructed elenda an put teysa at the helm. Its a fun deck but after about 2 months I switched back. I find elenda more fun. I won last week by distributing 2700ish damage. Timmy likey. And did it by assembling blade of the blood chief, teysa, dark privilege, gift of Immortality, Johnny likey too.
One of the best decks I ever had. You know what? try Species Specialist for card draw, each vampire dying giving you cards at your hand, I also use Smothering Abomination
Another good carddraw card for this deck is Species Specialist. Either name Vampire and watch all your token draw you a new hand or you could name another tribal that an opponent are playing. A really good boardwipe is also Tragic Arrogance. You choose what your opponents can keep and everything else is sacced. Also really good finisher for this deck is: - Hatred. Attack an opponent who has no blocks or that you suspect will not block, then play hatred and pay as much life you want. Finish of the opponent and then you get your life back, and also may sac your Elenda to swarm out with tokens ;) - Ashnod's altar + Nim Deathmantle. With Elenda on the board you can get infinity token and colorless mana (since it will be equiped on Elenda when she dies and give her +2/+2). - Divine Visitation. Really great finisher like Cathars' crusade, just sac Big Elenda in end phase and smash with the angels on your turn.
One of my most beloved commanders ever. I originally built the deck however back when her ability wouldn't trigger if u chose to put her in the command zone instead of gy because i thought it was cool to have this sort of restriction that i had to build around by including several reanimation spells. I was actually kinda disappointed that wotc changed the rules cause i felt that it made the deck strategy too easy but i i guess to each their own.
Elenda is expensive now. My friends gave me a foil one for my Edgar deck and at the time it was like $13 foil. Then they changed the commander death rule and it now it’s like $40.
I've been running elenda as my main deck for years. Some suggestions Coat of arms over Cathod's crusade Dark privilege over carrion feeder Bastion of Remembrance over blood artist Gift of Immortality and lifeline are pretty epic Blade of the blood chief, and teysa And my personal favorite over performer Hatred
Also increasing devotion and conquerors pledge end up better then the small afterlife creatures, turn 4 is when you want your board to have some sacrifice creatures and both of these hit that curve just right. Sucks to draw a doomed traveler late game
I have an Edgar Markov deck that has evolved into an aristocratic deck centered around the dusk 🌹. Red gives me access to impact tremors, Purphoros, and goblin bombardment.
Nice decklist, I was joking about the grave titan. I sometimes play casual edh and this would be a deck I would enjoy playing in that sort of pod. Great review, you did not mention teferi’s protection perhaps it was too costly. I would add it.
Elenda, Pitiless Plunderer, anointed procession and spawning pit on the field. Sac Elenda to spawning pit get 2 vampires and 2 treasures Sac the vampires to spawning pit to get 4 treasures and spawning pit has 3 charge counters on it Use one treasure to make 2 spawn tokens which you then sac back to spawning pit to get 4 more treasures leaving you with 7 treasures and 3 counters on spawning pit Repeat for infinite treasures which you can use to infinitely cast and sac elenda for infinite vampires etc
I like playing Orzhov a lot and a ramp card that I feel it's underappeciated, but constantly overperforms on my decks, especially if I have a lot of cheap dummies early on, is Explorer's Scope. It's cheap to play and equip, it is budget friendly, the floor is: gives you information on the upcoming card, while the ceiling is massive. When decks are roughly 1/3 lands, the chances of ramping are quite decent.
Coat of Arms hands down can give me the win with the right board state. I believe I just need better draw for my Elenda, I have no issue with anything else.
Pitiless Plunderer is legit just a non sac outlet phyrexian altar, but your mana even stays. If you're in black sac decks and need phyrexian altar but don't have a small fortune, try it instead
I just found an infinite combo for colored mana building my own elenda deck. Spawning pit+anointed procession+pitiless plunderer. Sac 10 creatures to pit, get 20 treasure tokens, use 5 to get 10 tokens off spawning pit, rinse and repeat. If you have artist, celebrant, zulaport or elenda its a win on the spot. It nets 15 treasures each time and I can't find it on any mtg reddit boards or commanders spellbook so if anybody is reading this I give full permission for you to run this combo and tell your buddies you came up with it.
I disagree that deadly tempest was the worst. Sure, without the life gain, but the original person had life gain so the goal was originally to use it as a win con. Therefore it WAS an acceptable card pre-tuneup.
Can you share your thoughts on Blade of the Bloodchief? You were mentioning how Pitiless Plunderer and a few sac outlets were close to breaking the deck and I feel like it is something that this card really pushes in ridiculous directions.
I am converting my Orah deck over to Elenda. I run a lot of these cards in Orah already, but clerics are just.... clerics. Its a fun deck if you can get an engine going but I find it to be pretty inconsistent.
Noob question about mdfc's. In the decklist, it says 32 lands, 36 with mdfc. Does that mean i can flip the card to the side I want when I'm playing it? Like it's in my hand in a sleeve, socery side to the front. And if I need a land can i just play it as a land instead? Sorry if it's obvious. I really don't know the answer.
In your hand/library/grave it will always show the front face (single triangle). But when you have the card in hand, you can choose whether to play the one face (spell) or the other face (land).
Great deck tech guys. I looked at building her at launch but never got around to it. With the rules change it looks less fun to play as im concerned games will turn into solitaire? Fantastic card recommendations tho. Keep it up
Why don't make room for Open the Armory? Is dirty cheap and tutor skullclamp, sword of the animist, by the way also why don't play animate dead (dance of the dead/necromancy) and Leonin Relic-Warder, great cards by itself and easily combo with a zulaport effect
Wasn’t Elenda somewhat of a good guy in the lore? Like I think I remember she was disgusted at what the dusk rose had become since her death when she was resurrected
