There are only about three cars that can make the Plaid *look* slow. Congratulations Lucid. I hope your stock bounces back. @@STORM3SHADOW no it's not. It keeps up with a Lamborghini Huracán Técnica around a technical track, while being cheaper and doubling as a lux 5 passenger sedan. Fun fact: The bear icon in the Lucid's interior and infotainment system derives from the flag of California, which is where the spirit of the company comes from.
Where is Model S made ?
I've been waiting for the Plaid on U-drags. Love U-drags. A fair race, thank you. The numbers were pretty close actually. Elon, it's time for Plaid+!
Fair? Sapphire is 2.5x more expensive. It's like saying Miata vs C8 Vette race Fair.
@@mofayerCope.
Epic race!
Sapphire officially dubbed “Plaid Killer”
Yeah agreed but a quarter million bucks is a bit
It better be... For the price. In other news, the c8 Vette was officially dubbed the "Miata killer"
Funny how all the other testing of the track pack and sapphire show the Tesla has 0-60 times and 1/8 mile times which are faster but here somehow it's drastically slower...
@@Josh.1234 I didnt watch this video with sound, did they do the plaid with drag strip mode? Or did they use track mode? Track mode makes the car slower
I am almost more impressed by the 1.32-1.34G cornering!
Every time I see someone talk about how well the Lucid handles, I remember the benchmarks they used for tuning the handling were the BMW E39 M5 and the Alpha platform Camaro SS.
This was your best u-drags to date!. Love it!. More EV content!
5:06 Rockets off ❤
The Lucid is faster than a 765Lt, I would still have the 765Lt.
Lol how much is a 765 LT? If you can own a 765 LT you will def buy a Lucid easily
Nice video keep up the great work Edmund
Only got a few more months before ordering my Ultra Red Plaid. I enjoyed the heck out of it when I had one for a week this year. 💯💯
Hope you wont meet a Sapphire to make you feel slow.
Its wild how fast the Sapphire is. I mean, it weights significantly more than the Plaid, yet it can outrun and out corner the Plaid.
Lucid Sapphire is the king of the streets and the track
No your mom is the king of the streets
For a short time... till it runs out of charge. Can't imagine trying to take that thing into corners. You'll be switching your tires every 7-10k.
"Pascal bernatchez" a small youtube... just posted a vid on his channel of a taycan turbo gt without the weisach package running a 9.15 on the drag strip... no tesla has ever done that... taycan is faster. With the weisach pack its going to be in the 8s. It may beat the lucid saphhire air and is already ahead of them all when it comes to suspension, handling, and braking. Taycan turbo gt is the 👑
I guess u haven't seen the taycan turbo gt.
@PEACEOUTXX1 Pirelli trofeo RS tires are obviously faster on track than pilot sport 4s. Porsche uses the stickiest tires possible, yet still dont hold the overall production car records
I would never have imagined 2 months ago, that I'd be happy to see this result.
This is incredible. Also, love the Saturn hat 😂
I like how the wind speed tells the entire story and is a helluva soundtrack!
Race starts at 4:00
We know numb nuts
You are doing god’s work
😂😂😂 a man of the people
The Sapphire is my personal best looking and the best performance electric VEHICLE which i would buy if i had the money
I can't stand the wheels, but otherwise, they knocked it out of the park. I'm not mad though. Happy with my track pack 23' Plaid. Plenty fast for me.
Was waiting for this one. Good job guys
It’s crazy how the Porsche 911 is 5th on the leaderboard
Two very nice and very impressive cars. Would be nice to include more cars in this race like Porsche Taycan, Zeekr 001 FR, and so on.
I would have loved a much, MUCH longer video comparing the two of these. A full track day, repeated drags, endurance racing, and comfort/utility comparisons.
Best comparison of performance on RUclips. Acceleration, braking, U turn - the whole package.
Funny how you can hear the lines in the concrete when you don’t have ICE noises.
That white interior does nothing for me!
The Saphire is incredible!
I have a Lucid Air Sapphire and I'm running Michelin Pilot 4S tires. I wonder why or when they changed the tires to Pirelli's.
Thank you for being one of the only videos that shows the different drive modes, going over the battery needing to warm up, and how to use Launch Control. It bothers me that so many other videos skip over it.
Although I do find you get more power in Sapphire Mode than in Track/Dragstrip mode. Maybe Placebo. Wish you would have tested in both modes.
Trofeo RS is orders of magnitude more grippy than the PS4S. Of course you will give up wet performance in exchange for more dry grip.
Hi Kevin, Nick Twork here from Lucid. The Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S tire continues to be the preferred spec for most road going activities and is your best bet for most daily and spirited driving activities. Our development team have worked with Pirelli on this new Trofeo RS tire for maximum grip in the dry and on track as an accessory option.
@@12nt43 Nick! it was a pleasure meeting you and Peter at the Lucid event at the Four Seasons earlier this week! Didn't expect you to chime in here! I should have Lucid Miami order an extra set of wheels with those tires for me for when I decide to take it on the track.
Nice, I've seen the Tesla Plaid get beaten more than a few times, but usually only by a car length or 2. But I've never seen a Plaid get absolutely embarrassed like this, hats off to Lucid.
There are only about three cars that can make the Plaid *look* slow. Congratulations Lucid.
I hope your stock bounces back.
Here’s also a gentle reminder that you can now buy a used Plaid for about $50,000. It won’t be long that high school kids in my neighborhood will be ripping around in them. At least they won’t be noisy until they crash.
And if you’re considering that cheap Plaid, check your insurance rates first. Maybe get back on your parent’s plan.
I look forward to u drags every week!
The Model S has become boring and pedestrian these days. Its a decade+ old design and it shows and the interior is lightyears behind the Lucid. The Lucid looks premium, the Tesla you have seen a million times and seems like an appliance.
Amazing to have 2 full size family cars compete with supercars. What a great time to be alive.
Next Rimac Nevera ❤❤❤
Interesting race. I don't think that I've ever seen these 2 drivers so focused and dare I say, fearful, as they were with the acceleration. One of them is clearly the better driver as he did better with both vehicles when he was in them.
If the Sapphire costed $100k less, I would consider it. Its such a cheat code.
Uhhhh, at $100k less it wouldn't have the package to make it a Sapphire lol.
@@Lando_Sage it's overpriced.
@@STORM3SHADOW no it's not. It keeps up with a Lamborghini Huracán Técnica around a technical track, while being cheaper and doubling as a lux 5 passenger sedan. The Plaid can't keep up with it around the track. Another example is the Porsche Turbo S, which also costs about $250k when optioned equivalently, yet holds less people 🤷. But if all you care about is 0-60 and clout, yes, you can get a better deal with the Plaid.
@@Lando_Sage didn't mean to turn this into a debate. I was simply just saying if it were $100k less, I'd buy one. I don't buy cars for sheer performance numbers. But at that price, I'd rather get something with more flair and an internal combustion engine. I could care less if it was slower.
@@STORM3SHADOW sorry, I just find it a weird reasoning lol. 'I'd buy a RR Spectre if it was $200k cheaper'... I guess haha.
Guys this Racing format is my New Jam.......Great Job, and needed to see these two Titans Duke it OUT!!! Had a feeling the Lucid was gonna take it. 🎸♥️
The Lucid is actually lighter than the M5 BMW 😮
Yes, correct, the new 2025 G90 M5 is heavier than the Lucid and its own fully EV i5 which, is why I am keeping my '21'M5 Comp. BMW know they messed up with the PHEV setup which, is why they announced the replacement M3 will not be a PHEV.
Mercedes made a different mistake when they replaced the AMG V8 for a 4 banger on the C63.
the race I've been waiting for is Pontiac astek vs vw kombi when is it coming??
Finally a car that can handle the Plaid, but it’s going to cost you twice the money.
2.5x
Better than coffee!! I get that!! It just took my morning espresso!!! Nice !!! 🎉🎉🎉🎉
You know we are living in crazy times when a man says "tesla model s plaid did not have the punch off the line" .... during the second drag race. The car does0-60 in 1.9 seconds but it did not have that punch off the line... jesus christ
Living in crazy times when the company that fakes everything, lies forever, builds dumpsters has stock over $220/share and the competing company that *EVERY* review or contest lavishes with praise has stock at $2.80
it didnt have the punch in track mode..... is what he was saying... Track mode you lose the cheetah stance Launch.

Time for a Rimac!!!
That thing would murder anything they could bring out. It has no real competition.

Cool format.
So ... Lucid vs ZR1 next? :)
Sounds like you’re upset the Teslas got waxed. Lmao
Pretty obvious Jonathan is by far a better driver.
When Alistair was in the Plaid, the Sapphire had a lead of an Airbus A380. When Jonathan was in the Plaid, that lead was narrowed way down to about a bus.
Maybe one day the Lucid vs ZR1 🤔
Don't forget the 1258bhp McLaren W1.

Respect to the Lucid. For it to gap a Plaid like that, it’s freakin fast!!!
Saying a plaid didn’t have the kick off the line is crazyyy lol
It didn’t launch as good as the first race for some reason.
he said it doesnt in Track mode. he didnt launch it in Drag mode.
@@johnjohn3241 Cause he switched to track mode to get better cornering.... so he lost the punch on the line.
When you get out of the lucid sapphire the plaid feels slow😂
Its definitely faster in drag strip mode, probably would have been very close on the second race if it was in drag mode.
IS 500 and m340i next please! 🙏
I've always said the Lucid is closer to a luxurious McLaren sedan than the Plaid and is priced as such. No use for this power on a public road, but options are always nice!
No it's not, it's interior is literally identical to the base Air...at $70k and also has a steel roof! How is cloth, vegan leather and Alcantara "luxury"?? Because the Plaid has that as well.
@@mikepetrozelli7206 The steel roof is for chassis stiffness. Tesla interior isn't comparable to Lucid. Have you even sat in one?
I'm old enough to remember when you were the caulk of the walk (deliberate misspelling) if you had a street car that could do the 1/4 in under 12 at a drag strip. Runs in the 9s meant you were a professional. The fact that these are luxury sedans makes it all the more insane.
Tesla fanboys have left the chat
Why would they? Tesla originally had a Plaid Plus announced with higher specs for $150k est. and canceled it, stating the Plaid was fast enough. You're acting like Tesla couldn't make something to beat it. Sapphire and Lucid are selling horribly, have only one vehicle, the Air since being founded in 2007. They're selling off stock because of slow sales.
@@mikepetrozelli7206 reality is tesla will need another company's rockets to make a faster "car"

He sure is. He diluted his share holders again this morning.
I believe the company loses 700 million dollars per quarter.
Yet he made out like a bandit. 😂
Fuuuuk! That Lucid is so fast.
Lucid is nuts. Now hopefully the stock takes off. Hehehe. 💪🙂👍
Tesla got DESTROYED. On the 2nd run the driver in the Lucid hit the brakes way too early
Wow, I don't know what's more impressive, the Lucid wrecking the fastest road going 2 seater, mid engine McLarens or a 5 seater Tesla matching them at a fraction of the price.
U drags are a brilliant way to match 2 cars together.
Lucid is crazy but 3 times the price hell no lol. Plaid any day !
Respect good run
Just an observation, the track layout might need adjusting. The Top 6 cars (excluding) the 765LT are Awd. Wich shows acceleration is The main factor in these races. The u turn has very little impact
This is father and son race, not many can actually handle this amount of power. 😊😊😊
