Sylar was stupid. He died at the end of season 1 and was only brought back by direct orders of the studio executives due to his popularity. They fucked up his writing for 3 entire seasons, going from one cringefest to the next.
My understanding is there was a writers strike in the mid 2000s, which is why TV went from being good (like Heroes) to being mostly reality shows- because you don't need writers for reality shows.
Season 4 at least felt cohesive, unlike seasons 2 and 3. It wasn't the same but it wasn't random twists with no real plot and the ending was ok, relative to the endings a lot of shows get, anyway.

The only ones that really had multiple powers was sylar because he stole most of them after killing them and Peter that had the ability to absorb others powers when being near them. Well I guess Arthur too since he could completly steal peoples powers by touching them.

I hated how they went back and made Sylar not a brother to Peter and Nathan. I felt it would have opened up more for their relationships. Having Sylar as a Petrelli made so much sense with his similar powers to Peter, Arthur, and later, Claire's son.

At any rate, I've never seen this series (I am not even sure whether it's available here in Germany) but I know Zachary Quinto from the Star Trek movies...He's a terrific actor, I think, even judging from this brief scene. They should give him a role as a villain in the next Bond movie!

Good Writing.. he wanted Claires power so he could never die, but Claire had an off switch, that only she and two other people knew about.. so by stealing her powers she made him the perfect villain, but he made her the perfect foil... Yep.. they don't make them like this anymore!
then suddenly he got worried about dying alone? then didnt want the powers anymore. its all fuzzy to me. they tried to give him humanity but he still killed that blonde lady then seemed a bit regretful. he even was trying to romance claire and talking about building bridges but in the next ep killed her father. he insisted no one changes but then they made him want to give up his powers. it did seem he was normal before the powers? not sure, just far too much to go through again.

Like when Peter lost his powers he told him not to worry he doesn't want to kill him because there's nothing to gain from it. @Radikus Before that point, Sylar COULDN'T have killed Peter anyway. The funny thing was that Sylar DID have Peter's power all along. Buy by getting powers that way, he had to emphasize with the person and learn to use their power. He didn't have the patience for that and found it MUCH more convenient just to open their skulls and examine their brains.
This show had so much potential. The writers strike, the way too long seasons, the delay in story telling - dragging out character building. Too many people to include. To many confusing plotlines, but I love it. It was everything at the time. Waiting each week to watch it, waiting through seasons. But the writing became convoluted, and story telling becauame cumbersome. It should be relaunched with an entirely new case, writers and commitment.
Only if they could give claire like telekinesis or that lightning powers she would be unstoppable! She wanted to help most of the time and she cant be hurt so that's for defense she only need offense powers so telekinesis would be so great.
she can be hurt, she just heals. might seem like splitting hairs but it's not. she's not invulnerable, she can be hurt, she can be tortured, she can be incapacitated as easily as anyone else, she is as vulnerable as anyone else, she just doesn't die.

She's like Jack Harkness from Doctor Who ... He can't be killed but he 'can die'... she experiences pain 100%... just she heals whatever is damaged faster than the pain can probably bother her for long... but she WOULD feel getting hit by a Train .... just it'd take her a minute to 'reconstitute'.

Hayden Panettiere was still working on Nashville at the time. They shouldn't have killed her off screen though. That probably killed the spin off more then anything!
Considering what Sylar put her through at that point she was well beyond utterly cold to his desires or feelings The show kind implied that given enough time for her ability to grow deeprr she would just feel nothing at all, no pain and no emotion. Just a cold emotionless killer even worse than Sylar, who at least initially only killed as a side effect of feeding his hunger to 'know' more abilities.
Metal or glass doesn't matter. What matters is severing the brain stem and removing his head - which as shown in Angela's vision would be enough to kill even Claire (and by extension her likely ancesotr Adam).

They ALL had that weak spot. Later, once Sylar became a shape changer, he MOVED his spot so it wasn't at the base of his skull anymore.
