Let me explain why they did this. Short answer: The Baylor coach thought there was a chance these three points could affect the standings and who goes to the Big 12 championship. It's actually not possible for it to make a difference, but the explanation for why it's not possible is complicated enough that it's understandable that he didn't figure this out. Long answer: There's a chance that Baylor, Oklahoma, and Oklahoma St could end up in a three-way tie with two losses each. If they do, only two of them can play in the Big 12 title game. The third tie breaker for the Big-12 is score differential. If it came to this, the two teams with the best score differential in the two games against the other tied teams will play in the Big 12 championship game. Since Oklahoma St beat Baylor by 10, Baylor beating Oklahoma by 13 guarantees that they will be in the top two of this tie-breaker regardless of the differential in the Oklahoma St-Oklahoma game. However, it's not possible that this tie-breaker will be necessary. Here's why. The first tie-breaker is head-to-head. If Oklahoma St beats Oklahoma, Oklahoma will be 0-2 against Oklahoma St and Baylor, so they would be the team left out. The only way we would have to move on to the next tiebreaker would be if Oklahoma beat Oklahoma St, and their second loss would have to be to Iowa St. The next tie-breaker would be each team's results against each other Big 12 team from the top of the standings to the bottom. Baylor's other loss was to TCU, Oklahoma St's other loss was to Iowa St, and in this scenario, Oklahoma's other loss would also be to Iowa St. Assuming Iowa St finishes ahead of TCU, it would come down to their results against Iowa St, and Baylor would win because they beat Iowa St while Oklahoma and Oklahoma St both lost to Iowa St. The only way that this tie-breaker would fail would be if TCU caught up to Iowa St, which could happen, but only if Iowa St loses to Oklahoma, and I've already explained why this scenario requires that not to happen. The only other way TCU could've caught up to Iowa St would've been if they had beaten Oklahoma St today, which they didn't, but even if they did, that would've given Oklahoma St their second loss, and the only way the three-way tie would happen would be if they beat Oklahoma, which would result in the first tie-breaker succeeding. Therefore, it is technically impossible for it to come to the third tie-breaker, but it's confusing enough that I don't blame the coach for not realizing it.
OU should’ve lost so many games this season anyway. As a Sooners fan, Lincoln Riley is an incredibly overrated head coach. Beats up on weak opponents and gets his brains beat in against decent to great competition. OU won’t win anything as long as he’s the head coach. Sad, but true. I also have no problem with Baylor kicking the FG. Game was already over. 24-14, 27-14 means the exact same thing for OU. Season is over
Hear me out, OU should have lost to Tulane (2-8) Kansas (2-8) West Virginia (3-7) and KSU(4-6). As you can tell they should have lost many games and EASLY, could have been (6-4) Before this game I still die in laughter when OU and Texas wanna go to the SEC when Texas lost to Kansas last night, and OU can't beat average big 12 teams lol.
Ya they literally lost to Florida last year… and lost twice in a back to back with Tennessee… and lost to Auburn and Alabama in a sugar bowl in the last decade. And lost to Ohio State on the road a few years back. Oh wait…
From an outsiders perspective (couldn't care less about either of these teams), this is a perfect example that sometimes you have to let things go, even though you're technically correct. lol.
@@vamosandiamo I was in Lubbock at an apartment close enough to the stadium that i could hear the crowd when i stepped outside. The place went crazy after the game.

Great job
This was an amazing response. And explained perfectly.
Thank you
Lol Riley realizing his luck ran out… he was probably arguing, saying they should have forfeited .
Thanks for posting this!!
There was a radio call video on this on RUclips, but the video got taken down.
Listening to the announcers cry for OU is too good.

Baylor isn't average but aight.

Riley should be sanctioned for his behavior!
I fucking love it! Fuck Oklahoma Football!
That field goal was for one reason and one reason only and that was to rub Riley’s nose in it after his little 10-year old girl tantrum that he threw.
Texas vs Texas tech vibes in 07
What happened on 07? 08 was Crabteee
He meant that prob

That was very BS to kick that field goal at the end. Karma is real
