We currently have somewhere along the lines of $130 billion dollars invested in China with much of it also coming from public dollars and from university related funds. Last year they committed a genocide against the uighyers simply for being Muslim.
If innocent lives matter to you, please explain to me why you want to divest from 1. A strategically important ally who contributes to the safety of America. 2 An ally who uses a significant portion of the money to protect its nearly ten million citizens from incoming rocket fire 3. An ally who's actions were geared toward protecting its people is response to a threat even if you feel the response has been disproportionate and 4. An ally who's efforts to defend itself from Hamas indirectly resulted in the deaths of 35,000. AND NOT CHINA where 1. An enemy state 2 willfully tortured and killed people 3. The enemy state attacked these people despite the fact that they posed no threat to the Chinese and 4. The community this enemy state tortured and killed consists of 1 million people.
Please tell me the rationale for divesting from Israel while we continue to invest in China and at what point does divesting from the so called evil places of the world include everyone.

I love statistics according to a 2020 CDC study black newborns have 3x mortality rate vs white newborns when both are treated by white doctors. The problem with the protests is the protesters haven’t taken the time to learn about it the current situation or the history. They just sound off vocabulary words without actually knowing what they mean or what examples in Israel would demonstrate that. You say ethnic cleansing, but that was done to the Jews by Arabs. Where are the Jews in North Africa and the Middle East?
You say apartheid, yet these areas aren’t Israel. They have borders with Egypt and Jordan. As a matter of fact these areas used to be controlled by those two countries.

I hate to say this, but not all people are smart enough or intellectual enough to be able to really understand these issues and discuss them. I'm so tired of mediocre mind screaming about things. The young aren't getting educated the way they were years ago. They have inferior educations taught by professors who indoctrinate, and that's why we're in this mess. Not everyone should have a platform.

The only comparable protest you listed was Vietnam, and that was due to the fact the draft was instituted. This isn’t some cyclical occurrence
Robbie just refuses to understand historical context for something that’s happened within our parent’s life time. He thinks it has no affect on the present and everyone in power in the 60’S were going to get everything right. You can’t get rid of everyone’s biases in one or two generations. You don't understand it because it's part of a much larger segment.
This bit was part of a debate about a proposal to install an antisemitism board on some of these schools to prevent some of the problems we are beginning to see on campuses. (which in my opinion isn't organic anti-semitism but rather the by product of the much larger problem of left wing teachers indoctrinating the students in to hating anything aligned with the west including Israelis and therefore Jews)
Both Bri and Robby oppose the idea. Bri opposes it because she obviously supports the protests while Robby essentially opposes it for the same reason he objects to the rest of the DEI nonsense being pushed these days-he sees it as a effort motivated by noble goals that will nevertheless spur layer upon layer of bureaucracy that can then be used to silence and disenfranchise others.
Bri became unhinged at that suggestion and started to lecture Robby on how this was nothing like DEI, suggesting that DEI stem from an organic need for such programming. She then "restated" his position by claiming that he didn't "see the difference between helping black people and women" vs silencing critics of Israel and she therefore had no desire to debate it further with him, waving him off in that condescending manner she has when she has decided that their debate is over. (Never mind that the proponents of this anti semitism board would never characterize it as "an effort to silence the critics of israel" but as an effort to quell incidents of violence against Jewish Americans and to shield their community from a growing wave of antisemitism on campuses)
To his credit, Robby then CALMLY reminded bri that DEI had actually been foisted upon schools through title 9 and title 6, arguing that just as DEI had been a product of good intentions, well meaning leaders were now trying to remedy anti-semitism through the same flawed approach.
Bri by this point was seething and instead of responding to the substance of his argument, she resorted to an attack on his character. Doubling down on her prior accusation, she shifted the goal posts by going in to a diatribe about her people once being in chains and living in an apartheid society, disgustingly implying that Robby was at best tolerant of segregation and unfazed by the prospect of black Americans remaining disadvantaged.
THAT WAS WHEN HE RIGHTFULLY TOLD HER HOW F*CKING OFFENSIVE HE FOUND HER BEHAVIOR. If you think racism is abhorrent, IMNSHO this is EXACTLY how one should respond to being unfairly accused of it.
