Heard this for 1st time on of all places Lisa Tarbuck's Sunday afternoon programme on radio 2 on way back from an excellent days drag racing Santa Pod raceway a few months ago of all places and cant get it out of my head (don't want to either), top tune.
I can't believe no one has mentioned that this sounds a lot like that song "Tradition" in that play The Fiddler On The Roof I wonder which song came first
It's a straight cover of Tradition, and the musical came first. After it came out it quickly became a jazz standard of sorts, and then bled into other adjacent genres like we see here. Makes sense cause it's a catchy and easily adaptable tune. Looked it up- Fiddler on the Roof Premiered on Broadway in '64, only 3 years before this cover came out, so it was very well known and popular at the time.
That, I can tell you in one word... TRADITION!
Quite simply one of the greatest rock steady riddims ever made. Wicked!

Jamaicans can turn nearly any tune into reggae.
