Dark Knight You often don’t get 5 or 4 stars unless you roll at least 50-100 times (statistically speaking). Also, YOU GOT A DOUBLE SSR MULTI, YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO COMPLAIN.
As ironic as it sounds, running all three top-tier casters together is an incredibly effective stall team. Waver can offer more buffs, and can debuff the enemy and drain NP charge, Tamamo can also drain NP charge, and reduce cooldowns, and Merlin is there to bring the cherry-on-top style of support, as well as the hard-counter you need. I ran these three against the Avenger Kingu fight, just for the hilarity. 50-turn fight where none of them ever had less than full HP at the end of every turn. It was the ultimate war of attrition.
I Did basically the same against gorgon, I took mash, merlin and tamamo together to stall her out for 15 turns instead of killing her for the lols. It got to the point where my entire team was firing NPs every turn and not taking a point of damage. I dont think I was laughing as hard as I was at the game than at that moment. I love stall teams :D
@@karenwang313 same for that one too. If not for the 15-turn limit, that fight would have lasted forever, with no victory in sight. At that point, I knew that I had a God-comp in the form of my Waver, my (new) Merlin, and my wife's Tamamo (I have my own, but hers is NP5 soooooooo yeah.)
@@isedesi7982 as boring as it is, the game will soon have a point where stalling is the only thing that you can do in some fights. Break Bars are about to be introduced. They're about to make boss fights that are specifically designed so that you can't just burst them down. NP-spamming every turn, NPs that one-shot, multiple health bars, damage resistance, evade/invincible spamming, shit gets real fun after Solomon :D

Waver is a great general buffer. But i dont use Waver for farming hands anymore because 1: Waver is bond 10. 2: i have 2 Kaleidoscopes, and merlin first skill gives 20% charge. Ez money

I'm honestly a little surprised you didn't mention Jalter, since Merlin also provides everything Jalter wants too. Plus it was like the meme team for god knows how long, even if it's never the most efficient option.
He technically did, just not in the recommended team comp section. Honestly pretty much every buster servant could go there as well. Ozy , Quetz, and even Medb benefit just as much from Merlin as they both have high star weight naturally and buster focused decks. The same goes with Tesla, Drake, Ishtar, Rama, ect.
Every time I use a servant other than Jalter with Merlin I get sad at the numbers.... my Jalter is lvl100 np5 10/10/10..... lvl100 victor of thr moon CE....puts her at 17,888 atk. Even effective servants arent out damaging her hahaha. Next up... hokusai... tho Jalter will recieve the gold fous first.

I guess the universe wanted to throw me a bone for denying me Waver and got me Merlin instead cause I've gone broke twice trying to get him and all I have to show for it is a Iskander with a NP5 Sanso NP5 and a Altera NP3 and a bunch of CE cards limit broken.

Well, it's here. Our lives will never be the same. I'm so glad, that my savings (400 SQ from about a year of gathering) paid off: I already got him to fully grailed version (100 lvl, yeah!). So, basically, what I do now: get another Merlin as support, get my Heracles, win the game.
Finally we know if Merlin is good! In all seriousness though, I love your reviews. Every time I get a new servant, one of the first things I do is check the G and A review. Thank you for doing these!
I emptied my SQ reserves on the summer banners, so I spent all my efforts on getting as much free SQ as I could since then. I rushed through Babylonia, Solomon and the pseudo-singularities in a few days. I used the 1/2 Free Quest AP event to do ALL of them for the completion SQs. I did about twenty interludes. I grinded bond-points for all the servants relatively close to a bond-level-up for the bonus SQ. I grinded 130 boxes out of Nerofest, with extra focus on whatever resources Merlin would need. I prepared myself to open my wallet if all of those failed. I got him in just 90 SQs, along with NP2 Lalter and Salter. I raised my Merlin to Lv90, 10/10/10 on the spot... and I have yet to even put him on a team, because all I have been doing is 3T farming Clerkenwell for gears and bones. FGO is one helluva drug...
Merlin really is the ultimate support. But there are actually some situations where he actually isn’t much of a help. Usually in gimmicky quests with enemies that have buff removal, and/or stacking loads of debuffs on your team. Other notable quests that come to my mind are the Abigail fight, some parts of Lost Belt such as Ivan. You really need to bring a debuff clear such as Martha to the demon pillar, because it stacks so much burn on your party that Merlin will often struggle to keep up with heals. Maybe double Merlin is an exception. IDK All Merlin killed Waver memes aside, Waver is still better at farming and keeping the enemy in disadvantage. Specifically lowering defense, stunning, and lowering their NP charge. Of course you could use both meme lords. Lol
I'm guessing this is partially the reason for all the Buff-heavy and/or Debuff-heavy fights in more recent JP content. A bit of an indirect nerf to Merlin since there is a lot more stuff around which he isn't equipped to deal with.
I pulled this guy on a single a LONG time ago. Even knowing nothing about the game at the time, I could see how OP he is and he had been on my team ever since.
"waver killer" i mean, waver is still the god support that goes with literally any comp and in fact, a waver/merlin/x comp works better than merlin/merlin/x later once we start getting gimmicks with each break bar. So dont worry boys, having a waver is far more important than having memelin.
Before I watched this, I sent the link to my IRL friend group's discord saying, "Finally, someone to tell me how good Merlin is even though everyone already knows how good Merlin is". Doesn't mean I didn't want to hear it, though. I am so lucky. I had $200 of xmas gift cards to go through and ended up getting him with the quartz I had before I touched the quartz I bought. I went back and got Avenger Snek x2, Casgil, Enkidu, and Quetz. I'm saving 200 quartz to try for Gramps.
I downloaded this game about two-three weeks ago, just fixed the first singularity, and just got him this morning. I never have gotten so happy for getting something on an app.
This is a reminder that Merlin was *ACTUALLY NERFED* from how he was in Babylonia. This is Merlin when he's not even TRYING. Merlin's so OP that he personally trained the second most OP character in FGO just because he wanted to define the meta twice. Dude just straight up memed on game balance.
I got him an hour before his banner went away! Got those 10 tickets from the shop, after pulling Arjuna from the Musashi banner i halfheartedly threw 5 tickets at Merlin.. And i got him! He's my first limited servant in the game so i'm very happy to have him. The fact that he's insanely good is just a bonus. All my lores are for this guy.
I love Ozymandias and Gilgamesh but both of them always die in presence of np unless I put some external help to Merlin would be a huge game changer with his team wide invincibility

I agree with everything that you have said except the waver killer part. 50% np charge for a 3-4 turn farming can never be replaced. Like you said in your Nitocris review, almost 90% percent of the game is farming and most good craft essence comes with 50% np charge (except kaleidoscope of course but it does not have np strength). I really dont wanna waste another turn or 2 before I can fire off my np. Another case in point, before merlin, my waver pulls around 1000++ fp everyday but after merlin, it only drops down to 900 to 800 fp daily so I am not alone with this sentiment. Merlin does fully deserve that EX ranking but in farming, which is most of this game, Waver still holds that EX rank and Merlin is not even close to that.

Even though Memelin burns all my Quartz in my possession, im not regretting getting him. He really helps me alot especially charging my NP gauge and that party invisibility buff 😉😉😉 But i wish Memelin is a waifu 😔😔😔

I dropped 200 Quartz on gramps, didn't get him I get struck by a bolt in the dead of night to drop a single 10 roll on Merlin, and I pull him I was happy, but I didn't know how lucky I was until after the fact.
Got Merlin on my last roll for him during the final singularity, got no new servants during the paid gacha and musashi campaign, but definitely have a roll saved for gramps.
*Pats self on back* I had some insane luck on his banner. Took 9 tickets and 360 quartz to get him, but I also got 3 other SSRs and SRs in the process. That was part of why I was so convinced I wouldn't get Musashi until Shimosa. With a MLB Prisma cosmos, his NP spam just becomes this insane cycle that gets faster and faster and makes everybody else spam too.

Honestly, he's kinda fun to use with Cu Alter and Mash because bersekers are somewhat hard to keep alive for long battles. Not to say Cu Alter doesn't have that issue persay, but still, fun comp.
Rolled him, no regrets and he came with Tamamo so now I feel tempted to roll for Skadi so I have all the ultimate supports for each card lol. I love running Double Merlin and Ozy, Ozy becomes a superman who can hit like the hardest Berserker and tank hits like the toughest Ruler.
11:51 Okay *pats self on back* But seriously, I think I had fairly decent luck on his banner. Summoned as soon as the banner dropped (and the servers stopped dying) and did eventually get him. Took a couple tickets and about 340 SQ, but I did get both Nightingale and Altera (two of my personal favorite 5* servants) to NP2 in the process along with getting my 2nd copy of 2030 (my account's meme potential is growing), plus I never got spooked by any other casters so my sanity didn't take much of a hit either. Overall pretty happy with the results (also he was the first servant I managed to get to 10/10/10 within an hour of getting him since I needed 1 more heart to max him, so I'm happy with that too).
Imagine putting Merlin with a Hans that's already done with his strengthening quest, then popping Hans' s3 on your DPS along with Merlin's buffs given by garden of avalon
The first day I got Merlín I wanted to see what the hype was about, so I got a double Merlín set-up with a 100/100 Jalter and did an event. Needless to say after NP’ing Merlíns 6 times before round 3 Jalter started to CRIT like 80,000k each combat And after the quest was done the entire party lost like 460hp But probably won’t be doing that soo much, since I have better things to do than seeing Merlin sniff the sky every time he NP’s

Well, it's here. Our lives will never be the same. I'm so glad, that my savings (400 SQ from about a year of gathering) paid off: I already got him to fully grailed version (100 lvl, yeah!). So, basically, what I do now: get another Merlin as support, get my Heracles, win the game.
Finally we know if Merlin is good! In all seriousness though, I love your reviews. Every time I get a new servant, one of the first things I do is check the G and A review. Thank you for doing these!

I emptied my SQ reserves on the summer banners, so I spent all my efforts on getting as much free SQ as I could since then. I rushed through Babylonia, Solomon and the pseudo-singularities in a few days. I used the 1/2 Free Quest AP event to do ALL of them for the completion SQs. I did about twenty interludes. I grinded bond-points for all the servants relatively close to a bond-level-up for the bonus SQ. I grinded 130 boxes out of Nerofest, with extra focus on whatever resources Merlin would need. I prepared myself to open my wallet if all of those failed.
I got him in just 90 SQs, along with NP2 Lalter and Salter. I raised my Merlin to Lv90, 10/10/10 on the spot... and I have yet to even put him on a team, because all I have been doing is 3T farming Clerkenwell for gears and bones. FGO is one helluva drug...
Merlin really is the ultimate support. But there are actually some situations where he actually isn’t much of a help.
Usually in gimmicky quests with enemies that have buff removal, and/or stacking loads of debuffs on your team. Other notable quests that come to my mind are the Abigail fight, some parts of Lost Belt such as Ivan. You really need to bring a debuff clear such as Martha to the demon pillar, because it stacks so much burn on your party that Merlin will often struggle to keep up with heals. Maybe double Merlin is an exception. IDK
All Merlin killed Waver memes aside, Waver is still better at farming and keeping the enemy in disadvantage. Specifically lowering defense, stunning, and lowering their NP charge. Of course you could use both meme lords. Lol
I'm guessing this is partially the reason for all the Buff-heavy and/or Debuff-heavy fights in more recent JP content. A bit of an indirect nerf to Merlin since there is a lot more stuff around which he isn't equipped to deal with.
I pulled this guy on a single a LONG time ago. Even knowing nothing about the game at the time, I could see how OP he is and he had been on my team ever since.
I got Jeanne in the GSSR, so now I can make the ultimate stall team of Jeanne, and double Merlin.

"waver killer" i mean, waver is still the god support that goes with literally any comp and in fact, a waver/merlin/x comp works better than merlin/merlin/x later once we start getting gimmicks with each break bar. So dont worry boys, having a waver is far more important than having memelin.

I am so lucky. I had $200 of xmas gift cards to go through and ended up getting him with the quartz I had before I touched the quartz I bought. I went back and got Avenger Snek x2, Casgil, Enkidu, and Quetz. I'm saving 200 quartz to try for Gramps.

I agree with everything that you have said except the waver killer part. 50% np charge for a 3-4 turn farming can never be replaced. Like you said in your Nitocris review, almost 90% percent of the game is farming and most good craft essence comes with 50% np charge (except kaleidoscope of course but it does not have np strength). I really dont wanna waste another turn or 2 before I can fire off my np. Another case in point, before merlin, my waver pulls around 1000++ fp everyday but after merlin, it only drops down to 900 to 800 fp daily so I am not alone with this sentiment. Merlin does fully deserve that EX ranking but in farming, which is most of this game, Waver still holds that EX rank and Merlin is not even close to that.

Got Merlin on my last roll for him during the final singularity, got no new servants during the paid gacha and musashi campaign, but definitely have a roll saved for gramps.
When I got merlin I leveled him up to 90 in one night.
*Pats self on back* I had some insane luck on his banner. Took 9 tickets and 360 quartz to get him, but I also got 3 other SSRs and SRs in the process. That was part of why I was so convinced I wouldn't get Musashi until Shimosa. With a MLB Prisma cosmos, his NP spam just becomes this insane cycle that gets faster and faster and makes everybody else spam too.

Jokes aside, it was nice to get Merlin on Christmas, was an instant 10/10/10 for me, makes my Jalter happy and with the inclusion of Nightingale from the GSSR, I'm enjoying the team for the time being. That being said, I'm avoiding the double Merlin comps and would want to experiment with others. Perhaps I'll give Beowulf some love.

I play FGO for fun and to enjoy myself because Fate is my Favorite Franchise, and I wanna have some challenge when it comes to a Franchise I love as much as I do; just going Easy Mode all the time will suck the Fun out of this game, which is the LAST THING I want. An example of when I Will use Merlin alot though will be the Fate CCC Event because of what I heard about it: IT'S GOING TO BE HARD AS HELL!!! Honestly, he's kinda fun to use with Cu Alter and Mash because bersekers are somewhat hard to keep alive for long battles. Not to say Cu Alter doesn't have that issue persay, but still, fun comp.
Rolled him, no regrets and he came with Tamamo so now I feel tempted to roll for Skadi so I have all the ultimate supports for each card lol. I love running Double Merlin and Ozy, Ozy becomes a superman who can hit like the hardest Berserker and tank hits like the toughest Ruler.
I just got Merlin on summer 4 banner so I'm re visiting this video for some good tips.

But seriously, I think I had fairly decent luck on his banner. Summoned as soon as the banner dropped (and the servers stopped dying) and did eventually get him. Took a couple tickets and about 340 SQ, but I did get both Nightingale and Altera (two of my personal favorite 5* servants) to NP2 in the process along with getting my 2nd copy of 2030 (my account's meme potential is growing), plus I never got spooked by any other casters so my sanity didn't take much of a hit either. Overall pretty happy with the results (also he was the first servant I managed to get to 10/10/10 within an hour of getting him since I needed 1 more heart to max him, so I'm happy with that too).

Imagine putting Merlin with a Hans that's already done with his strengthening quest, then popping Hans' s3 on your DPS along with Merlin's buffs given by garden of avalon
The first day I got Merlín I wanted to see what the hype was about, so I got a double Merlín set-up with a 100/100 Jalter and did an event.
Needless to say after NP’ing Merlíns 6 times before round 3 Jalter started to CRIT like 80,000k each combat
And after the quest was done the entire party lost like 460hp
But probably won’t be doing that soo much, since I have better things to do than seeing Merlin sniff the sky every time he NP’s
