Fuck yeah they're killing it extra hard recently. I'm so stoked on the mr2, this has been my favorite car of theirs for a minute. Can't wait to hear this thing rollin down the road with that dogbox.
When pressing bearings, it's a good idea to freeze the part that's receiving the bears. Makes pressing them on so much easier. Also, if you're pressing just a bearing race and it dosen't have grease or seals that can be damaged by heat. Putting the bearing in the oven for a bit will also help press them on with ease.

On Hondaru, you should check the pilot bearing/bushing and make sure its not grabbing or causing the input shaft to stick at all. If its sticking or the bearing isn't smooth the engine keeps adding input even when you disengage the clutch, makes it a lot harder to shift at high RPM. Most people do not understand bearings and how to work with them. THose washers are there for a reason and that is to take up clearance. With a new gearset id say I would want to measure everything and shim accordingly. Paul Cangialosi is a world class gearbox builder and has a channel "Gear Box Video". He explains how bearings in general (for any application) and gearboxes realy well.
When I was in FSAE we used a one cylinder Kawasaki dirt bike motor with a sequential. One fun thing we did was hook up paddle shifters that opened valves compressed air tank. That was super awesome sounding. Would recommend One not so fun thing we had was centripetal clutch (like lawnmower lol) would not recommend that it was sketchy at times (secondary clutch for launches), like it wouldn't move below certain rpm so if you left in gear and revvved it would start moving. Stick with real clutch.
Been a sub for years. Haven't missed a video. So good to see the man you have become. Literally watched you start as a kid and now your a man and business owner congrats my guy! Most underrated car channel on RUclips !
FYI, The CG transmission from an 86-89 integra used a transmission with 5th gear on the outside of the case. It is what I used on my 10 second street civic 10 years ago. I was the first one to get one to work on a d16z6.
Personally I liked this video you showed a lot of cool information about the sequential transmission. Just a FYI from someone who used to overhaul transmissions and turn wrenches for living you might want to consider building a nice steel top work bench with holes drilled in it to match the bolt pattern of the bell housing so you can bolt the case to it when you are serving the trans and need to torque bolts etc you won’t have do gymnastics holding the transmission with it on that plastic table. A good super strong steel topped work bench and a 5 to 8 inch shop vice are often overlooked but essential tools for working on cars. Additionally if possible you should try and have a separate shop workbenches one for fabrication work and one for mechanical work on opposite sides of the shop to help avoid keeping metal filings and MiG balls out of your engine and transmission parts because they really don’t mix well together (don’t ask me how I know).
Making some very nice progress - y'all have made so much progress in the last year or so, since getting the new shop! When tightening the end nuts, it is MUCH easier to use a 'strong bar/breaker bar on the one being held and have the torque wrench almost above it - that way you can apply the torque with one hand and brace with the other on the breaker - you are pulling them towards each other. No worries about the 'box moving, or whatever, and if it does it is MUCH easier for an assistant to hold steady. Some lubrication on the parts before final assembly would also be good - might have done it, though, as it is hard to tell from the video.
chris carter plus the reason why I like mr2’s is the weight distribution. When he takes off that weight is already little infront of the drive axel. So he’s gonna take off like a rocket and hold it there. He might be in the low 8’s if he runs a solid pass.
Surprised alot of people don't have more problems with these mr2s when new with the spoiler the front ends would lift causing the steering to go very light and that was with the 2 litre turbo in them let alone anything heavier or faster

He'll definitely need more tuning and tweaking with coilovers and suspension than anything that's been on the channel so far. The tune and how steep the boost curve is makes A huge difference as well. A proper suspension setup in the rear, adequate track tuning, a little aero work and worst case scenario a quick lift of the throttle will easily straighten out any issues he will have going in a straight line. If he was running big tires and double the power it might be more of an issue. On a road course, yeah this thing would be borderline useless

Weird that fork rod that hold the shift forks just floats in there? Those flat spots seem like they are machined on it to put a wrench on to hold it still while it gets bolted down from underneath. I have no idea about transmissions but having flat spots machined on a rod like that is usually for a wrench or some sort of fitment for anti rotation

RUclips does not have a cd009 rebuild video awesomely explained like this 😎 but who ever make one will have tons of views over all I love this Chanel I learn so much here thanks to 🐐Kyle ..big respects from Long Island ny ⛽️🔥🚀
Prolly have to extend the shift fork to make up the thickness of the adapter plate. The master prly dont have enough force.
Awesome trans man.. make sure you shove it into gear with a purpose it doesn't like to be babied , otherwise your gunna be tearing it apart every few months or less, I cannot wait until the MR2 hits the track
Kyle and Emilio are the perfect gear head duo.
Bout to break some hearts with that MR2!!
That what u think 😂
Kyle good stuff bro. Btw the stock subaru power band is approx between 5 to 6k rpm, there was never a subaru tranny built to take 10 k or 12k rpms!! Hondaru will eventually need one of these kits!
You should look into doing a plexiglass window for the engine bay cover.
One of my favorite videos so far. Just calm lots of information cool content. Felt a little old-school
Kyle lost the SD card because Emilio gets more views. 🤣😂
Just kidding Kyle, hope you saw the MotiveVideo drag battle footage where a pair of K-Swapped MR2's dominated everything. 👍
I was thinking about Kyle so much watching Motive DVDs video. Dam a need a sequential in my life.
MafiaboysWorld soon Kyle will be dominating mate !!! The MR2 is going to rip 😜👍🇦🇺
I would love to know how much that gearbox is worth mate ?! I need a dogbox gear set for my starlet build 😜👍🇦🇺
@@gemini3558 Our money? Looking at 20K. 👍 Just check out Samsonis anyway, used on 1000hp+ GTR's. 😎
@Jaycee 925 That's Aussie dollars bro and retail price for it because Gemini is from Shitsville like I am. 😁 Keep in mind, Kyle said they gave him a really good deal and it was someone connected with Quaife in the UK that hooked him up so expect under $10K in USD or around that range. 👍
I honestly like it when u just knock shit out . Everyone loves progress
would you go awd with the hatch to try for 8s?
I think he should tbh, getting into the 8's with a FWD takes a lot of time and money, but it sure would be badass
When I rev match or heel toe I tend to sequentially row through the gears. Helps me get rpms right. Tap tap to third as I go 5-4-3
Finally! Time for a strain gauge!
Why do you need a strain gauge on a sequential box??
@@bugsyrobinson3435 ruclips.net/video/2qcnW6qbyI0/видео.html
Sir strain gauge are for h pattern trans so you can flat foot shift without a clutch...a sequential box don't need that because you don't need to use the clutch to shift already
You would still need a strain gauge to cut ignition during a shift
Twin Turbo the MR2 since you have room for days back there and a friend/ roommate who could build the sickest twin turbo, twin wastegate K series manifold on planet earth. You could be a Legend with a set up like that.
He's planning on it
Sequential 360p squad! 💪
So glad to see the MR2 getting built. can't wait to see you take that thing down the track the first time. it's going to be a monster and the fastest car you guys have.👍
Oreilys bearings? Should’ve gotten better lol
They're National Bearing Co. bearings...Pretty much the industry standard. Do some comparison reading on them
Dustin Pfalzgraf good to know man, can’t cheap out on components you know.
@@dustinpfalzgraf138 How are they compared to SKF, FAG or Schäffler bearings.
I use them on a regular basis side by side with FAG. No issues that weren't installer related. I.E over torqueing.
Hey won’t the direction of shifting change because the engine and transmission will be behind you in the mr2???
Will the Quaife hold 1000hp?
MishMash seen them on drag cars in the UK with over 1200hp at Santapod seen a Honda specific one at 980hp
1000% the quaife will hold that and then some!!!
air in the clutch on the hondaru ?? had that problem with my bmw. would shift normally when i was taking it easy
Anyone else want a built transmission for their project car?
No, it’s makes 100hp
Billy Rudd imagine a sequential with that little power.... it would be hilarious
Boostedboiz content is legit the best, I really hope you can find Emilio’s footage. I’m sure I’m not the only one thinking so lol
Shift cam just like an ATV or dirt bike.
Nice video , were did you get the blue prints and torque settings for the gearbox from. I'm in the uk and have the same box but I've got to strip it and put the speed sensor drive back on the lsd . Quaife treat the blue prints and torque settings as a trade secret saying if you can't build it you shouldn't , great info on gearbox
Lost the footage?? Damn. Bet Emilio is pretty annoyed. Deffo prefer these tutorial/getting stuff done videos. PFI channel has lots of all the other stuff already.
Bloodline2009 yup I bet
its gonna be a lambo killer, super stoked to see you finish this build
$100 Kyles doing twins for the mr2
How big of a tire can a MR-2 fit in the rear? Do they make arms and axles to narrow the rear or do you have to cut the fenders and run overs?
Hope you fill it with fluid...haven't mentioned it yet
CALISTYLE4LIFEOG yeah he did. He said he needs a speed sensor and drain plug for the case still.
Why would you fill it before it's in the car? Lol
poopfart247 because it’s easier. Manuals only use a few quarts of fluid; doesn’t add much weight.
@@JAM4382 True true , guess the fill was suppose to be assumed
You need to write down everything u need like bolts and gaskets & whatever to put the MR2 together and order it so you don't have to stop progress every other day when u need something.. but can't wait to see it done.
U put it together wrong bud.... Missed cple shims and u gnna eat those gears alive within 2blocks
What shims?
@@patrickekstrom exactly🤣
Do you still have to use the clutch when you're racing when you have a sequential gearbox
Spends thousands on a sequential transmission “still misses gears” 🤣🤣🤣
Sorry I had to be that guy 🤷🏽♂️
3rd
That gearbox is identical to a motorcycle transmision, ust bigger. Funny to see that :) What is happening with the go-kart? is the turbo and tuning coming up soon?
Its actually a good thing u lost the footage, because you take up 90% video explaining what you are going to do, and 10% of the time actually working on car
I don't know much about working on cars so personally I like the explanations, plus..let our Boi get some as revenue
i like the videos regardless but if kyle explained it as he did it, then kyle would only need to explain it once
Where did you get the diagram showing how its supposed to be assembled? I have the same trans and im about to put it together myself. Thanks!
Does it have some sort of sensor that you can attach for a digital readout of what gear your in?
Liking the build videos more then the track day videos keep it up boiz!
Hell yeah brother!
This little mr.2 really is coming along i just on edge my seat waiting for the next video, this thing is going to be an animal
Iuse a penny between the 5th gear assembly for final torque. It will lock the gears inplace and wont damage anything.
