When pressing bearings, it's a good idea to freeze the part that's receiving the bears. Makes pressing them on so much easier. On Hondaru, you should check the pilot bearing/bushing and make sure its not grabbing or causing the input shaft to stick at all. If its sticking or the bearing isn't smooth the engine keeps adding input even when you disengage the clutch, makes it a lot harder to shift at high RPM. Hope you see this before you mate the trans back to the engine :D

That was super awesome sounding. Would recommend One not so fun thing we had was centripetal clutch (like lawnmower lol) would not recommend that it was sketchy at times (secondary clutch for launches), like it wouldn't move below certain rpm so if you left in gear and revvved it would start moving. Stick with real clutch.

Good job man, I think you did a good job in it's gonna work just fine. Can't wait to see what it's finished. I think you should take the exhaust out the middle of the tell lights in the center
Making some very nice progress - y'all have made so much progress in the last year or so, since getting the new shop! When tightening the end nuts, it is MUCH easier to use a 'strong bar/breaker bar on the one being held and have the torque wrench almost above it - that way you can apply the torque with one hand and brace with the other on the breaker - you are pulling them towards each other. No worries about the 'box moving, or whatever, and if it does it is MUCH easier for an assistant to hold steady. Some lubrication on the parts before final assembly would also be good - might have done it, though, as it is hard to tell from the video.
He been teaching people since 2016 when he was pulling apart Accord transmissions and swapping gear sets in his home garage. :D Also the first video on this channel is about how to fix a crank no start issue on a Civic. This video is totally awesome though. I've always wanted to see how a sequential works.
Thank for showing and explaining the build instead of timelapse with alvin and the chipmunks greatest hits in the background! I Appreciate the hard work.
Personally I liked this video you showed a lot of cool information about the sequential transmission. Just a FYI from someone who used to overhaul transmissions and turn wrenches for living you might want to consider building a nice steel top work bench with holes drilled in it to match the bolt pattern of the bell housing so you can bolt the case to it when you are serving the trans and need to torque bolts etc you won’t have do gymnastics holding the transmission with it on that plastic table. A good super strong steel topped work bench and a 5 to 8 inch shop vice are often overlooked but essential tools for working on cars. Additionally if possible you should try and have a separate shop workbenches one for fabrication work and one for mechanical work on opposite sides of the shop to help avoid keeping metal filings and MiG balls out of your engine and transmission parts because they really don’t mix well together (don’t ask me how I know).
Awesome trans man.. make sure you shove it into gear with a purpose it doesn't like to be babied , otherwise your gunna be tearing it apart every few months or less, I cannot wait until the MR2 hits the track
Amazing to see you working on a bench setup. Looked almost professional! I did have to pause the video to load Quaife’s catalogue. I fitted an ATB diff in my G40 box recently and their stuff is sweet.
You better put in some shift redundancy so that when you downshift too early, and you will, you won't just die because the rear wheels locked up throwing you into a spin.
Can you explain what this means? I googled shift redundancy and got results for UK employment practices. I've downshifted when I meant to upshift when learning to ride a motorcycle and locked up. The clutch solved the problem but my heart was beating like crazy.
@@HerbertHopkins799 modern cars with sequential gears won't let you downshift if rpm are too high as a safety feature. I have no idea if they can rig something up between their computer and the transmission with the setup they have. Having it happen on a bike would be really scary.

One reason I started following your channel was the detail in rebuilds. I’m mostly into J-Series (checkout my channel and 600hp J32 Accord) but like to see how other motors and trans operate. All are pretty much the same in the internal combustion world, but things do differ slightly
use a high temp heat gun to heat the shit out of the bearings and then work them off what ever part. i used this method to replace the input shaft in a tr6060 (camaro 6speed manual) which you literally have to pull everything apart. the heat gun method takes a bit of time but it works amazing!! when you want to reinstall thee bearing that is really tight. stick the part in the freezer for an hour and then heat the bearing with the heat gun and gently tap it on with either a rubber hammer or a socket that fits the inner race!!
I love how much progression that has been going on lately

Like the build content. Good to see MR coming together.
The SD cards and the 10mm sockets, the very last items on plenet earth to be discovered by space travellers in the fourth millenium.
Great video mate really enjoyed seeing how the box went together. Keep doing what your doing
Finally! Time for a strain gauge!
Why do you need a strain gauge on a sequential box??
@@bugsyrobinson3435 ruclips.net/video/2qcnW6qbyI0/видео.html
Sir strain gauge are for h pattern trans so you can flat foot shift without a clutch...a sequential box don't need that because you don't need to use the clutch to shift already
You would still need a strain gauge to cut ignition during a shift
Good shit bruh super pumped to see this thing rip !!!!!!!!!! 1k hp sequential shifting K swapped MR2
Shift cam just like an ATV or dirt bike.
Very interesting watching that gearbox go together, the commentary was excellent. Thanks :)
Lost the footage?? Damn. Bet Emilio is pretty annoyed. Deffo prefer these tutorial/getting stuff done videos. PFI channel has lots of all the other stuff already.
Bloodline2009 yup I bet
This little mr.2 really is coming along i just on edge my seat waiting for the next video, this thing is going to be an animal
Anyone else want a built transmission for their project car?
No, it’s makes 100hp
Billy Rudd imagine a sequential with that little power.... it would be hilarious
That thing is badass! Great tutorial going through how it all works.
would you go awd with the hatch to try for 8s?
I think he should tbh, getting into the 8's with a FWD takes a lot of time and money, but it sure would be badass
So satisfying watching the box assembly!!
Will the Quaife hold 1000hp?
MishMash seen them on drag cars in the UK with over 1200hp at Santapod seen a Honda specific one at 980hp
1000% the quaife will hold that and then some!!!
these type of vdeos are some of my fav!
Oreilys bearings? Should’ve gotten better lol
They're National Bearing Co. bearings...Pretty much the industry standard. Do some comparison reading on them
Dustin Pfalzgraf good to know man, can’t cheap out on components you know.
@@dustinpfalzgraf138 How are they compared to SKF, FAG or Schäffler bearings.
I use them on a regular basis side by side with FAG. No issues that weren't installer related. I.E over torqueing.
Damn Kyle, you really broke that down well. These transmissions are works of art. The amount of engineering in the shifting shaft is mind blowing.
Spends thousands on a sequential transmission “still misses gears” 🤣🤣🤣
Sorry I had to be that guy 🤷🏽♂️
3rd
3:50 sooooo satisfying
U put it together wrong bud.... Missed cple shims and u gnna eat those gears alive within 2blocks
What shims?
@@patrickekstrom exactly🤣
Thank you for explaining how the gear box works Kyle, you are saving lives by doing this.
$100 Kyles doing twins for the mr2
Glad to hear that all of the project cars are coming along well. But I am dying to see the “boosting the cart” project.
Hope you fill it with fluid...haven't mentioned it yet
CALISTYLE4LIFEOG yeah he did. He said he needs a speed sensor and drain plug for the case still.
Why would you fill it before it's in the car? Lol
poopfart247 because it’s easier. Manuals only use a few quarts of fluid; doesn’t add much weight.
@@JAM4382 True true , guess the fill was suppose to be assumed
I love videos like these the most. Very informative plus getting to know how something works and gaining knowledge is always best. Can't wait until the MR2 is out and about lettin er rip tater chip.
Its actually a good thing u lost the footage, because you take up 90% video explaining what you are going to do, and 10% of the time actually working on car
I don't know much about working on cars so personally I like the explanations, plus..let our Boi get some as revenue
i like the videos regardless but if kyle explained it as he did it, then kyle would only need to explain it once
Twin Turbo the MR2 since you have room for days back there and a friend/ roommate who could build the sickest twin turbo, twin wastegate K series manifold on planet earth. You could be a Legend with a set up like that.
He's planning on it
Should hook up a large digital display showing the gear you are in. Like in the wrc rally cars. MR2 is going to be sick! Great work guys!
It’s looking like it’s gonna be a ripper man. Everything coming together looks great.
Your channel has inspired me to do my own k-series engine build/swap.
Loving all the content. Keep up the hard work.
So glad to see the MR2 getting built. can't wait to see you take that thing down the track the first time. it's going to be a monster and the fastest car you guys have.👍
One reason I started following your channel was the detail in rebuilds. I’m mostly into J-Series (checkout my channel and 600hp J32 Accord) but like to see how other motors and trans operate. All are pretty much the same in the internal combustion world, but things do differ slightly
Been waiting to see you get it put together. Glad to see the mr is finally getting closer to running
hey kyle im using internet explorer but i think you didnt torque that bolt down enough maybe a gear will break or somethin'
Great job explaining it. Keep on going man, I enjoy the updates. Hope to see you at the next cleetus and cars in Florida!
use a high temp heat gun to heat the shit out of the bearings and then work them off what ever part. i used this method to replace the input shaft in a tr6060 (camaro 6speed manual) which you literally have to pull everything apart. the heat gun method takes a bit of time but it works amazing!! when you want to reinstall thee bearing that is really tight. stick the part in the freezer for an hour and then heat the bearing with the heat gun and gently tap it on with either a rubber hammer or a socket that fits the inner race!!
18:43 that might be the problem. You said in the 100+ ft/lbs in the damage assessment video.
I really appreciate the amount of content you’re putting out the mr2 progress is awesome asf lovin’ it
