Hi Holly! I know speed work is essential, but the workouts are so boring to me. I don't like them. I tried them for a while, but I cut them short because they get boring and also annoying to have to remember the details of what reps how fast etc. I only run 10K races. My speedwork is that I do 5K or 10K time trial every other week and long tempos.

That's interesting, because I find steady runs so boring! haha. I love intervals because something is always changing and the time flies by for me. The speed work will definitely help increase top-end speed...for instance your time trials will likely get faster in less time if you're pushing your limits with short intervals.... but if you aren't super competitive and not trying to win races and you hate intervals, then you don't HAVE to do them. Just a thought....if you're doing TRUE time trials every other week, that can be really hard on tje body. That's like racing every other weekend. You could even do 3 miles, but break up each mile into intervals. But I'm not a running coach, so it's really up to what you feel works best for you.

@@RenewalFitCoach You're right. When I think about it I don't feel I do real time trials since I don't get that much crushed in the end and the next day I'm ok to do my usual run. I'm kinda scared to go all out, even in races... There is one 10K race in the end of May, it's very casual people jog it to be honest. I have, maybe unreasonable, goal to podium it. 3rd place finishes in around 40 min, and my best time is high 45 😂 Doing what I do I don't think I have chances to lower my time in that timeframe. But at least I will be more brave in the time trials! Thanks for the reply, Holly!

@@kylestephens9593 you could definitely improve your times by May! but you might have to do intervals, haha. I still wouldn't recommend such frequent time trials if you do actually get brave enough to truly give it the full effort. Otherwise it sounds like you're doing tempo runs, which are important. You might also look into strides - they're like shorter sprint-like efforts and you can mix them into your harder runs for speed. they can be super short so it may not be as boring for you.
