I'm a Lions fan, and the day Dan Campbell was hired and gave his "biting kneecaps" speech, my Steelers fan friend told me that the Lions just got their version of Bill Cowher. I'm amazed that my friend called it within an hour of that initial press conference ending.

Bill Cowher lost for a long time before he won his only SuperBowl. It took him 13 years to win a Superbowl after losing to the Cowboys in his first. So Lions fans I guess you can wait 13 years because the 49ers are going to kick your ass.

I don't think it's hard to replicate the Lions' "fit" with Detroit. Trying to mirror a city is basically the same everywhere. Put the Lions in Miami, Dallas, New York or LA and it still works. Is it flashy like people want for stereotypes? No. What always gets attention is winning. Every city has some "tough" aspect to it. LA had the black hole. Dallas has its rugged Cowboys. New York will grind you up and spit you out. Just put the right label on toughness and it'll sell.

Just about everything about the Lions organization we are witnessing this year are things Fans over the last thirty forty fifty years have dreamed about watching the Lions do.
Two home playoff games where the Lions had the lead and the ball and took knees to end the game?
I'm not dreaming this, This really happened.

@@Werdnasemajjamesandrew I really don’t think you guys are reading what I wrote. Dan is a former player turned coach who is a leader of men. I would pick a Dan Campbell type before I would pick the latest Offensive Wiz who may know how to run a winning Offense but who don’t know how to lead a team. I think it’s easier for a former plan to make the transition than just an X&O candidate who is probably at their best being an Offensive Coordinator rather than a HC.
