Brian Sherrill bought his mint 'used' GIBSON USA Les Paul Studio Faded Worn Cherry guitar about 8 or 9 years ago at a Nashville Guitar Center for $200 USD (about $275 CDN) Now in 2024, that same guitar on Reverb goes for $1600+ CDN. Wow! In 8 or 9 years a stock guitar increases by 5-6 times. Thanks Brian for sharing what was a great and common-place deal back then, as well as a superb, 8-bar blues guitar lesson! ❤
I play Ragtime and Blue,s and found your lesson EP208 very helpful.Iam self taught and having dislexia and cannot understand the reading of music.Thankyou for your easy to understand lessons.Ps Iam 72yrs young and play every day.
Very well constructed guitar blues solo lesson! You are an excellent guitar teacher. I am sixty eight years old and have been playing the guitar for only a year and a half. However, employing what I have learned from Papastache and you, I have come a long way in a short period of time. Finally, I am playing a Michael Tuttle Guitar, are you familiar with that name. Thanks, again! Party on, Garth!
Thanks for this great lesson...well worth a subscription!! Love the "bargain" Gibson too..way to go man!! Im always on the look out for such deals myself...it's fun and you never know what you might find, and hey come one, we could never have too many guitars!!!! Rockin' regards from the UK :)
Alot of good stuff here brian thanks most appreachiated the lesson do you play in a band and what are some of your favourite players i know you mention clapton in one of your vids.
When you jam with your friends.....how hard is it to pull these riffs out of your mind? I mean, do you prefer a certain key because you learned the riff in that key....or do you transpose along the way? I'm sure rehearsal would solve some issues, but many good guitarists, like you, seem to jump up on stage and it looks like you've done this a million times....Please elaborate...Is there a plan?
+brpbrpbrpbrp The only plan is to figure out what key the song is in as quickly as possible. It's really like learning a 2nd language - scales = alphabet, licks = works, solos = sentences. You learn a 2nd language by doing, by speaking to others, over and over again. So learn as many licks as you can - and learn where they are in reference to the chords, so that you can easily transpose them.
Excuse me, but "Key to the Highway" is not a Muddy Waters song. Blues pianist Carlie Segar first recorded the song in 1940. Big Bill Broonzy made it popular with recordings during 1940-41.
Who cares who "first recorded" it? I never said Muddy wrote it or was the first to record it. That said, Muddy recorded Key To The Highway in the London Muddy Waters Sessions album and he usually always played it in his live shows. Here's a recording of him playing it live - ruclips.net/video/INj3_2ncb7M/видео.html
*I* care who first recorded it. also, I can think of quite a number of blues masters who would be considered to be more associated with this tune than MW... Furthermore, the song is not considered to particularly represent Chicago styles of blues.
Too much gabbing on about everything around apart from learning the licks .. I know you have to have knowledge but too much about other things apart from learning the main riffs ..just got board and switched off after so much waffle .. not for beginners
I love and have become fascinated by Clapton's shuffle on this tune...he turns it inside out.

Nice Les Paul Bryan, you did well!
You got a fantastic deal. I paid $850 for mine new in 2011.
classy funky licks... super good lesson... love the lead parts and how they fit the tone centers of the 1 5 4 sequence... very good my man.
Hey bryan this was very helpful and educational . I'm a beginner guitarist and I'm into blues music.
Nice. Love this song. I learned Claptons version in E. Look forward to this lesson.
No need to mention broonzy as his version is in E..this is a superb lesson by the way
Beautiful, man!!! You got it!!!
You were lucky to get that for $299.00. I'd have grabbed it too... I've always wanted one of those. I like P-90's though.
Fantastic
Again: this is your best sounding guitar.
thank you so much for posting all these helpful videos!!
That is one nice looking guitar! Thank you for the lesson
you are the man
1-5-4 is a great but largely underutilized pattern in most modern music today... Love the lesson, great licks!
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe this is the only 8-bar blues Clapton ever recorded. I love this.
+Jack D. Ripper It Hurts Me Too is another 8 bar, but it has a different chord structure to this one.
Well worried life blues is 8 bars. I’m sure there are others
Thanks for this. I have always loved this song to jam on. I love the lick coming out of the high E7th chord. Awesome.
awesome lesson
Gran maestro donde los halla.
Saludos
