Curtis you are now seeing why Vegeta is loved by so many. His character development has been absolutely amazing throughout the series. And yes that is all there is to his speech :)
I wish Piccolo had gotten similar treatment. He STARTED a character arc with training Gohan, but it just sort of fizzled out by Namek because there was more important stuff going on. They just slapped on a hasty conclusion in the Android Saga and called it that.
In Dragon Ball Super, Vegeta said he recognizes Goku as number 1, but he won't be content with being number 2 and will become the strongest in the universe.

in dragon ball super episode 2 vegeta said while training, " I may have accepted that you are the best kakarot! But I don't want to be on second place ! "
This scene right here made vegeta my favorite character from Dragon ball. He was always one of my favorites but this solidified it for me. And yes he really left it at that.
Not only was There no 'But', but vegeta actually went on giving everything he had to give goku the one final Shot at buu. It 's such a Great Moment and fight and so satisfying to watch, because even though it ultimately really is goku's viktory, to me it feels as if it's actually only thanks to vegeta.
Dragonball Z really doesn't get enough credit for its writing and character development. Scenes like this are amazing. Also yes Curtis he really did end it with that realization.
It's because of how long the Majin Buu saga played out. Akira Toriyama did an amazing job with every Saga but he didn't know how to end the Buu Saga and it kind of dragged on... That being said the character development in Dragon Ball and Z was incredible from characters like Vegeta, Teen Gohan, Piccolo and what not A great show overall
Vegeta continues with his ego and his strive to be stronger than Goku on into Dragonball Super (which follows directly after the Buu saga in the timeline.) So no, there was nothing more to the speech, but you are right that Vegeta's attitude towards Goku doesn't actually change.
Maybe not in the same way, but they are like rivals and "best buddies" lol They both think like Goku, be stronger and surpass themselves, but are in some competition
His “but” will forever be the fact that neither will give up on becoming stronger. Vegeta will still try to get better than Kakarot, and at times he will succeed. But his bloodthirsty rage to want to take down Kakarot has disappeared. This speech was meant to showcase that Vegeta might want to be better than Goku, but he has truly gained his respect. Something that I actually think is realistic for someone like Vegeta to take so long to admit.
About the Goku vs. Everyone reaction. You were talking about supporting the creator and such but what you didn't realize was that he passed away a couple years ago.
The characters development is what helped nurture me from childhood to adulthood... you put the fighting a side for a minute and actually take in change displayed through out each character.. it gives you a whole different perspective, not just on dbz but also of reality, brilliantly written if done so purposely. Its just a shame most will overlook the character development just to see some fighting.. Some many hidden lessons throughout dragonball, thats why i love it so much.. the subliminal messages are everywhere
Oh and the primary reason Vegeta developed so well is because literally no one else developed at all in DBZ, in OG Dragonball yeah but primarily Vegeta in DBZ
After this Vegeta fought Kid Buu (strongest version of Buu) in his normal saiyan form for 1 minute, and remember even Goku in SS3 was having trouble, to give Goku time to power the spirit bomb.
Vegeta 100% meant it... When he started realizing it was after their 5 episode fight "majin vegeta vs goku" Where Vegeta purposefully got mind controlled by Babibi, just so that Babidi's magic could boost his power up to the level Vegeta glimpsed Goku release earlier. Only for Vegeta to realize (after he had killed him self) that Goku fought him in Supersayan 2 during their fight but could have already transformed to Supersayan 3. That's where he realized how outmatched he was.
so this is kid buu. in buu absorbed gotenks (goten and trunks fusion) then absorbed mystic (more powerful than ssj 3) and was at his most powerful state. He then went under a transformation and made him into his pure form kid buu which was his original form. He is less powerful than before, but he just does what he wants, he is more ruthless and doesn't really think. So supreme kai called him more dangerous
Hey Curtis!!!Vegeta becomes stronger when he has to defend his family in DBZ Super, proving that he too has Goku's ability of becoming exceedingly stronger for his love ones. In this part he still believes that he can not achieve this strength through love and the urge of protecting but in this new saga he has become just that😍
This speech made me realize that Vegeta was the main character of DBZ the entire time, and it was his character arc and character growth that the show was focusing on...not Goku or Gohan. And there was no addendum, he was being sincere.
Yes this part was amazing, but the most funny was that just after this Goku fail and Vegeta was the one who create the final plan to defeating Majin Buu. And btw, this is not Super Buu, this little bubblegum form is the pure original Majin Buu
hey I'm a life long db,dbz, dbgt, dbs fan and I love watching your reaction videos. reminds me of better days watching it on toonami growing up. keep up the great work and try to watch it all including db and dbgt. I know GT isn't really cannon but there was some interesting lore and fights in it, plus ss4 gogeta.
yes that was all that Vegeta said he did not continue on from that ending. the other speech I linked you is very good as well I await your reaction to that one.
there's still the Vegeta vid explaining why he got the "M" mark when fighting one another. hope you'll check that out too, since the one you reacted to just now is later on. take your time, enjoying these :)
there was no need for Vegeta to go, "but". The entire Buu saga was his journey to that one moment. Unlike the Cell saga he had no buried anger or resentment. That's part of the reason why I think he became stronger than Goku in the new dragon ball series, Dragon Ball Super.
While Goku generally progresses faster Vegeta never lets the gap get to large. Even surpassing Goku at certain times, but yes generally Goku is better in pure strength.
First off, it was Kid Buu, Buu's final form, that Goku was fighting, not Super Buu. And yes, that was pretty much it. The rest after that is quite a development, too. Even Goku is surprised at his total change in attitude. What really blew me away was what happened later after Vegeta had Dende use the Namekian dragon balls to wish Earth back and wish everyone killed since Babadi arrived back to life except for the most evil ones, was that Goku noticed Vegeta's halo was gone. Vegeta had been brought back to life, and since the really evil people weren't wished back, he was a good guy now. I bet that very speech was what caused that. Not so much the speech itself, but his new mindset. Just like that, he no longer had the desire to be the most powerful fighter because Goku would just surpass him again. Vegeta had always had evil desires for power and domination, but had to put them off to team up with Goku and beat Frieza, and then Cell, but Goku died fighting Cell anyway and he got distracted by having a family, so those desires were just dormant and bottled up. Babadi was able to take control of him later because technically he was still evil. But with his new mindset after that speech, I think he had given up his bloated ego and evil desires, so Porunga saw fit to bring him back with the others.
When everything is on the line, Vegeta shows who he truly is. That tough persona is all surface level, yes he is amazingly proud and a bit arrogant, but at his core, he is not a bad man, not anymore. and he will give everything to defend his Family and friends.
I'd like to see a reaction video of "Ip Man Vs. 10 black belts". It's a clip from the movie Ip Man who was Bruce Lee's master. It's a very short scene, but what happens just before the fight is that one of Ip Man's close friends is fighting in an underground dojo against Japanese soldiers who occupy China. The friend beats one soldier and gets a bag of rice (food and work are hard to find at this time). He sees Ip Man and decides to fight three soldiers at once. He gets his shit tossed, but tries to leave with the one bag he previously won. He is shot in the head in front of Ip Man who wants revenge and requests to fight 10 soldiers at once. You'd very much enjoy what happens.
The funny thing is Goku never actually defeated vegeta do one-on-one. The first time they fought if it wasn't for a yajorobe Krillin and Gohan, Vegeta would have killed Goku all by himself. In Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball Super Vegeta has actually surpassed Goku a few times but remember Goku is the main character so of course he is going to be the strongest.
you want to know how deep and regal vegeta is? do a reaction video on vegata speech after he defeats cabba in the exhibition match of the tournament of power. After that match you see how noble and honorable he is in regards to pride in his saijan race.
Nope, no "but" to it. He left it at that. He honestly came to the realization that Goku was simply better than him. That's what makes this so significant. If Pride was a physical substance Vegeta would explode. And in spite of his pride he was willing to admit, even if only ever to himself, that Goku was simply the better warrior. The better Saiyan. This is why people love Vegeta. His character development throughout the series is one of the best that I have personally ever seen.
Sad thing is, even if he had surpassed Goku, Goku wouldn't have much of a reaction. He'd be like, "Neat!" He wouldn't even have the satisfaction of rubbing it in his face 'cause Goku doesn't really care.
Sean Schemmel and Chris Sabat The voices Of my favorite saiyans Vegeta and Goku Dragon Ball Z/Super fans including yours truly Goku and Vegeta had a long history together and they really had a lot Of adventures and a huge rivalry in The entire Dragon Ball Z/Super series my God this was an incredible respect speech what Vegeta just did he gave his respect for Goku All Right!
honestly, vegeta is the character that makes the series dbz. dont get me wrong, i love goku so much and he is one of my favorite characters from anything ive ever watched, but vegetas developement is just so god damn interesting. he is more human than any other character in the series, and this moment was just so god damn beautiful. i love this show so much
It's funny that you mention you didn't expect Vegeta to have character depth like this. In the Saiyan, Frieza, and Cell sagas, Vegeta is very selfish, and it doesn't seem like he will change. The Buu saga is essentially Vegeta's character development arc. He begins to realize these things himself, when he discovers that he actually cares for Earth and the people living on it, to deciding to fuse with his lifelong rival, who he may not separate from again, to this part, where he actually admits that Goku is stronger than him and that he respects him. It was a very different take on him from the previous arcs.
What he really said @ the end of he's testimony was, that it was maddening that their is a saiya -Jin who loves to fight yet is kind. Hang N there kakalotto U R the #1...
Watch Vegeta crying during the freeza saga. Just search Vegeta crying KAI dub. Reason why i say to watch kai version is because the dub is much more accurate and hits you where it hurts. The struggle that vegeta went through and reason he cries really gives him a huge character development.
To be fair this was at the end of the series, nothing after that was planned by Toriyama, so it made sense to have Vegeta come to this conclussion at THE FINAL BATTLE.

oh the irony, I've requested this so much and now I can't watch the rest of the video because I'm leaving for 2 days
Anonymous going to eat poo, totally understand
Sebastian Kroela well I'm back, time to finish the video of
When Vegeta said that Goku never fought for revenge he's never seen what Goku did after Krillin died the TWO times
of course he would never tell goku that
Every story has two type of characters hero and villain but dbz has Vegeta💙
yes that was all that Vegeta said he did not continue on from that ending. the other speech I linked you is very good as well I await your reaction to that one.
Yes he left it at that and having true respect for Goku
there's still the Vegeta vid explaining why he got the "M" mark when fighting one another. hope you'll check that out too, since the one you reacted to just now is later on. take your time, enjoying these :)
You gotta great the speech in the majin vegeta fight!! That one have me chills!!
Since you liked Broly I wanted you to watch "Broly vs Family Kamehameha"
there was no need for Vegeta to go, "but". The entire Buu saga was his journey to that one moment. Unlike the Cell saga he had no buried anger or resentment. That's part of the reason why I think he became stronger than Goku in the new dragon ball series, Dragon Ball Super.
That's suspense at the end with the music
Vegeta is my fav DBZ character of all! you should see him in Dragonball super killing freiza
No the only addendum would be Vegeta getting his ass kicked by Buu for about 5 minutes to defend Goku
I remember when Dragon Ball Z was on cartoon network back 16 years ago in 2003 in the 2000's
God dayuuum time flies 😮
No apologies needed, we love you!
When everything is on the line, Vegeta shows who he truly is. That tough persona is all surface level, yes he is amazingly proud and a bit arrogant, but at his core, he is not a bad man, not anymore. and he will give everything to defend his Family and friends.
master roshi vs the red ribbon army it's hilarious
I love hearing you fanboy over Vegeta's character development😂 so genuine lol
he finally realize that out of the two goku is the best
finally thanks it means a lot
Sean Schemmel and Chris Sabat The voices Of my favorite saiyans Vegeta and Goku Dragon Ball Z/Super fans including yours truly Goku and Vegeta had a long history together and they really had a lot Of adventures and a huge rivalry in The entire Dragon Ball Z/Super series my God this was an incredible respect speech what Vegeta just did he gave his respect for Goku All Right!
You should watch buu heals blind boy
In dragon Ball super in the tournament of power there's a fight between hit and jiren same tournament of power kefla versus Goku
I really want to see you watch either Goku vs Chichi or Goten and Trunks vs Mr. Popo. I believe you would enjoy them both XD
what you really need to watch is vegeta vs super buu that is amazing!!!
no sry meant kid buu
honestly, vegeta is the character that makes the series dbz. dont get me wrong, i love goku so much and he is one of my favorite characters from anything ive ever watched, but vegetas developement is just so god damn interesting. he is more human than any other character in the series, and this moment was just so god damn beautiful. i love this show so much
Great Reaction video when u have the time you should see Goku's Sacrifice Now that's a tear dropper!
I like how he admits this and then db super comes and the writers are like. Yeah ok "IM STRONGER THAN U KAKAROT LOL ITS LIKE I NEVER SAID THESE WORDS"
I know its 6 years ago but he still admits gokus the best he just wants to surpass him so he can help earth more
you should do gohans first super saiyan 2 transformation its
absolutley epic
Watch Gohan go super Saiyan 2 for the first time. Very moving
You're awesome dude. New sub 💪🏽
Yes that was the end of the speech. It surprised me aswell
Watch Vegeta crying during the freeza saga. Just search Vegeta crying KAI dub. Reason why i say to watch kai version is because the dub is much more accurate and hits you where it hurts. The struggle that vegeta went through and reason he cries really gives him a huge character development.
Best speech ever
