- When Liz Meriwether launched “New Girl” on Fox in 2011, she didn’t think anyone would still be talking about the show a decade later. But 10 years after “New Girl” premiered and only three years after it concluded its run, it is seeing a lucrative second life thanks to streaming deals. The renewed interest in the show, coupled with its special anniversary, resulted in a reunion panel during Variety’s Virtual TV Fest.

New Girl is my comfort show. Whenever I'm stressed out or really down I put New Girl on. It never fails to immediately ease my stress and brighten my mood.

It was so obvious that they had no clue what to do with Winston as a Coach last minute replacement and they just tried to make him Coach 2.0 which didn't work. Hard to believe he went from that to in my opinion the funniest character in the final 3 seasons.

True. His character was kinda bland in the first season but he easily became the funniest character line for line afterwards.
Jake Johnson is Nick Miller 🤣 his philosophy of not buying new clothes was so on brand

I would love a New Girl spin-off in like 15 years about these characters as empty nesters called "Old Girl." It would be fun to see these characters deal with actual aging. Nick was always an old soul anyways. Maybe he enters a new kind of prime. Schmidt was always worried about getting old so his neuroticism would be hysterical. If Jess and Nick had kids it would be fun to see the disfunction of having a Mom who can't let go of her babies and CeCe would be talking her down and being the voice of reason. Winston could be an uber successful host of a prank TV show... like he actually became a famous prank master.
I would watch the heck out of that.

I was 23 going thru a break up with my ex when the show 1st premiered 10 years ago, i always saw myself as Nick Miller & my best friend at the time (now fiancée) was & is still my Jess lol… ever since the show ended i still binge watch it faithfully every year & still get the same joy out of it

New Girl episode during the Pandemic:
Schmitt leading the charge for cleaning but also doing all the baking, Winston doing all the puzzles, Nick has his whole room filled with paper towels thinking he did well by buying all the toilet paper. Coach yelling at people to work out on Zoom. Meanwhile Jess is in the trying to teach with all this in the background. One night the CDC calls a press conference and announces that Winston Bishop was wanted for pranking the world with COVID.

I like the fact that in this reunite, the mediator leaves everyone to express themselves, that's really appreciable. Usually, the actors can't say whatever they want because the mediator doesn't leave them to. So that's nice!

how special it is that this show on camera had that warmth liz talked about, but also off camera they all have these amazing memories and these great relationships they still maintain today??? i just love this show so much, it really is one of the funniest ones i've ever seen
when she said people thank her i legit do. my uncle died in a tragic murder and the periods where we weren’t planning the funeral i was binging new girl and those moments where i was laughing and watching the love amongst friends was very nice to see. so i really appreciate all of them and the crew for making a fantastic heart felt bingeable show :)

New Girl is the second show I streamed during stay at home orders. I started with Community. I remember handsewing masks during Community, and bingeing on Skittles during New Girl. I can't stand Skittles anymore because they remind me of early terror (my fellow teacher and her husband got the virus early on, and her husband died). Community and New Girl, however, will also be precious for giving me joy and laughter during a terrible time.

Jake and Max look so genuine even in real life. They are real life friends, the kind that you probably look for whether you are in showbiz or outside of it. And hats off to Jake aka Nick, amazing actor. Same goes for the entire cast but Nick, Jess and Schmidt are a cut above the rest IMHO. One of my all time fav shows. Have already binge watched 3 times in past one year 😀

I'm "old." Ya know, original Friends viewer and even liked Mad About You; New Girl tops it all. Fast-paced irreverent, witty in your face humor that truly makes one laugh. Proud to say I was one of the viewers who petitioned for the last season to "tie things up". Best show in 15 years hands down!

I think for new Girl the best approach would be to do it like Psych. Do a TV movie every few years so we can catch up on our favorites and they can have a good time (if they still love it).

It’s amazing to see how the shows that were really good and funny had a foundation of real respect camaraderie and humor behind the scenes, from the top down. Shows like the office parks and rec new girl warehouse 13 all talk about how their experience on the show is so different from other shows

New Girl is literally my show man. It is SO relatable about just trying to figure out life and going with the flow and trusting your own growth process. I have watched New Girl over 30 times. Especially once it was put on Netflix, I would end it and restart it all over again. There are not very many shows I will watch more than once and New Girl is beyond awesome. The cast, the writing, the improv, genius. Thank you~
