Experiencing the Bering Sea King Crab Fisherman's Tour (Ketchikan, Alaska's BEST cruise excursion!)

In this video, I take you on board the Aleutian Ballad (the crab fishing boat that was featured on season two of the Deadliest Catch!) for the Bering Sea King Crab Fisherman's Tour - the most popular excursion in Ketchikan, Alaska! After meeting Captain Dave and the crew, we headed out on the calm, protected waters of Alaska's inside passage to learn all about the state's most-prized fishing haul. Sadly, there aren't any king crab in these waters, but we did learn all about the process of operating a crab fishing boat & what life is like aboard one of these boats as a crab fisherman.
The tour is quite interactive, featuring plenty of sea life that is brought aboard the boat for a quick show-and-tell before being released back into the ocean. On this tour, we were introduced to sharks, halibut, box crabs, sea snails, hermit crabs, and giant Pacific octopus, along with plenty of bald eagle sightings above. It was a great three hour trip along the Inside Passage. You'll also hear stories of their lives as former crab fisherman and the perils they faced in the vicious conditions on the Bering Sea.

It’s a bit far from the Bering Sea - I think they’re mainly focused on the concept of Bering Sea crab fishing, not necessarily claiming the inside passage is the Bering Sea 😊
