I really think it would've been nice to see Aly and Simone both hug Amy Tinkler on the podium. They were too in their own world to care. I love Simone and even more so Aly who's my 2nd fave gymnast of all time. But aren't you supposed to congratulate and at least shake the hand of the person under you on the podium. that bothered me.
Brian ... They didn't hug during the medal ceremony for vault either. I didn't hunt down the parallel bar presentation or beam though. Maybe they changed that procedure for the gals because of the virus, although they do their hugging on the sidelines, depending on what side of the apparatus they are located. .
Its not a procedure...no one is obligated to hug or kiss anyone. They did hug Amy after the routines when everyone was congratulating everyone. Aly and Simone were caught a bit wrapped up on their bubble that Amy was a bit left out. Its obvious they both have more intimacy with one another than with Tinkler so IMO its justified that they'd be celebrating their accomplishments like that. Its always like that when you have two of the same country on the podium. But yes, I guess Amy was a bit left out. And for god sake Zika virus is not contagious like that, you cant get it by hugging people. Its through mosquito bite and there were zero mosquitoes in Rio during Olympics because it was winter, not the right season for mosquitoes. Please people educate yourselves before spreading BS online.
Anna .... I think YOU better educate yourself. Personal contact does indeed spread the virus, depending upon the type of contact. For instance, husbands and wives DO infect each other. A pregnant woman who has the virus will STAY infected until after childbirth because her unborn fetus becomes the central carrier of the virus and keeps its mother infected. She, therefore, is a carrier and if bitten by an uninfected mosquito then infects that mosquito. The virus targets the unborn and keeps it infected thereby causing horrific damage, not only to the brain, but very often to muscles and nerves, preventing any hope of normal development. I suggest you do some research regarding RECENT discoveries.
