Judges 13-16 “Samson”

Then Manoah prayed to the Lord: “Pardon your servant, Lord. I beg You to let the man of God You sent to us come again to teach us how to bring up the boy who is to be born.”
…“I was so sure you hated her,” he said, “that I gave her to your companion. Isn’t her younger sister more attractive? Take her instead.”
Samson said to them, “This time I have a right to get even with the Philistines; I will really harm them.” So he went out and caught three hundred foxes and tied them tail to tail in pairs. He then fastened a torch to every pair of tails, lit the torches and let the foxes loose in the standing grain of the Philistines. He burned up the shocks and standing grain, together with the vineyards and olive groves.

One can`t help but wonder, how could Samson not understand what was happening.
Maybe it`s the same as us, when we know we shouldn`t do any certain sin and yet we do it anyway, sometimes over and over, sometimes for many years, a sin we refuse to bring under the authority of Jesus until it destroys our lives, and we willingly hold onto it until the last moment...thank you for posting!
A more interesting Judge is the story of Gidion, it could be named the Judge who doubted his sanity!

That was an interesting story to listen to from Jehovah's word. Thank you once again for giving us these, from the less known books of the bible. When I was listening to it, I was thinking how Samson did one thing to the Philistines because of what they did to him, and the Philistines did something to Samson because he did something to them. It's just as Jesus said in Matthew 5:39, to turn the other cheek. I've noticed that quite a bit in the old testament, they are the opposite of what Jesus teaches because he knows and has been told by Jehovah what the right thing to do is.
