All summer I had a hive that didn't fill even half a box, so I decided to let it die off this was 30th September. Yesterday 25th October there was a mass of bees doing orientation flights, so I opened up the hive as it was a nice day and they suddenly have a box and a half of brood and bees. I'm guessing that they replaced the queen. BTW I had just ordered and pre paid for the nuc of bees to go in this hive next year 😂
I have some resource hives fail with my old queens I thought that I could do. Some really do well but I lost some minor ones but they got drawn out comb that I plan on using on other hives.
