in my opinion this is one of the first songs fresh out of the 70s that sounded like a 80s song. im guessing people at that time didn't really know what the genre was but obviously in hindsight its post-disco and funk
"Let It Whip" is a song released on February 12, 1982 by the Dazz Band and their biggest hit, peaking at number one on the R&B chart for five non-consecutive weeks. The single also reached number two on the Dance chart and number five on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The song won the 1982 Grammy Award for Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals. The Dazz Band is an American R&B, funk band most popular in the early 1980s. Emerging from Cleveland, Ohio, the group's biggest hit songs include the Grammy Award-winning "Let It Whip" (1982), "Joystick" (1983), and "Let It All Blow" (1984). The name of the band is a portmanteau of the description "danceable jazz".

Oh yes it was as I was there and only a teenager. This is one of my Fav's from Dazz Band. Nothing today can touch this period of music for it's grooves and overwhelming variety and talent as we danced our butts off through the 80's and into the 90's....
Dear Dazz Band we took you for granted....God bless every one of you -and many thanks for the awesome timeless music production over the decades! Still whipping hard today !

My 21 year old son just discovered this song and now has it as apart of his daily playlist. We both go through the house with a little added pep in our step....
Great song. From a time when technology was starting to radically change the sounds available in making music, but it still had to be played and sung by talented people to make it work.
This song is one of the reasons my hearing is now shot to you know what. Back in the 80s when everyone started putting serious money into their car stereos and boosters, equalizers and speakers, there were only 3 girls in my area that did it. I'm a short white chick from so far south I'm almost in Florida lol and we live in a tiny little town. Me and my two best gfs had some serious sound systems in our cars. Mine alone was over$800.00 and that was a heck of a lot of money in 1984. I think I wore this tape out ( along with a few others ) because I could tune this in and blow all the boys systems out of the park! Dang I wanna go back !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is when everybodys daddy and or uncles had a curl in 1982 - 83'' lol i was 7 years old in 1982'' and i remember couldnt help but seeing the yellow curl activator spray bottles in the bathroom at home. lol and this song was poppin back then and still pops now in 2021🎶🎶🎶😎😎😎
