Hi Ollie. When you give them the bill make sure you itemise the cost per hour for clearing the leaves as a seperate item. Also if you get a call back ask them to clear the leaves before you get there. Sue, mum from Adelaide, South Australia.
How appropriate... on a Friday on nr 13 (see house) having to pick up leaves that people should clean up THEMSELVES!! You are amazing that you did that, cause many would tell the customer to FIRST clean that themselves... You are a true professional and it actually is difficult seeing you having to do this. Dang! You are the BEST Ollie! I dont think they EVER cleaned those drains themselves!!
I dont think he is amazing for doing it. He charges out at the Jetting rate for a bit of a clean up. I am sure he would do it all day if somebody is paying.
Kind of rude to leave you to have to clear the leaves before you work. I agree with whoever said it before, I hope you charged extra. Peaceful wishes from Massachusetts USA
@@darkwater72 thats why it is a poor design. Why have something that can get so messed up with a lack of cleaning it all the time. Looks like a ton of leaves and dirt goes down there every rain storm so it needs constant attention. I know routine cleaning should be a part of the owners routine but we all know people are lazy and forget things like this too much. Poor design.

This is why you get calls from people. Some of my countrymen could learn from you. I don't know a single Canadian plumber that would clean up the leaves, most would expect it done by the home owner before they arrive. Bravo.
You are so kind to clean up theirs leaves . That is a man who takes pride in his job and does the best he can even if it takes more effort. It won’t be unnoticed in heaven! Peace my brother.🙏
Good lord! It must have been years since that was last cleaned out! That homeowner had gone and made themselves a soil farming operation out of what should have been the drain for their driveway. Serious kudos to you for cleaning up what all those leaves Ollie! I wouldn’t blame you for charging extra on this job. Great work as always!
That homeowner needs to be educated, mate. On how to RAKE LEAVES SEASONALLY! I couldn't believe that beautiful topsoil coming from that gutter. Topsoil that was produced by YEARS of LEAVES COMPOSTING. I hope their wallet's fat because it's about to get liposuction! LoL

Awesome drainage system. 'The water will go in this hole and then just drain into the sand below.' 'What about leaves and shit?' 'Aaaa, shouldn't be a problem.' Derp!
Horrible, just horrible. Those leaves should have been cleared before you ever got there. Maybe if they did a bit of regular maintenance, they wouldn't have needed you. You are too good Ollie.

Agreed, poor design. With a acute slope like that, you have to realise that sooner or later water will flood/pool there and no drainage is going to cause problems
There is nothing wrong with this design. Its even used in Canada and the USA. This is a simple lack of maintenance. If the leaves and debris were cleared twice a year this would never happen.
Night Rider there’s obviously plenty wrong with the design... this would do squat diddly in The tropics where we get torrential rain. Even without the leaves it would flood...

Easiest and fastest way to get rid of those leaves is to use a tarp or sheet and rake them onto it. Then use your pressure washer to blow the rest out before they get wet. Also, I use a trench shovel for gutters and the ground drains like those. Always like seeing how others so it, good work!
A true professional, getting the job done even if it’s not really something they needed you for. Hey, If one of my clients pays my $125/hr consulting rate to sweep the floor and take out trash, I handle it. I probably will not be as good or fast as someone who does that professionally for a tenth the cost. And if it’s not worth my time I’ll call in someone for $15/hr to do it for me and then I get paid to drink coffee. But if the customer has a problem and is willing to pay for the solution there is no reason to not be a professional.
Hi again Ollie. As I have said before, these architects need some serious education about plumbing and the disaters in the future that may occur.
