How Bad is China's Economy? Walk Through Poorest Province Reveals Truth
We hear it everyday in the news, but what is the economic situation on the ground in China? In today's video, I hit the streets of Guizhou province one of China's poorest and explore a local neighborhood seeing what life is like in China in 2023 and share my experiences.

Your son is So cute and beautiful 🤩 love him 😚😚😚😚😚😚
Good job Jason . Yes U.S spend 1,6 Billion dollars a year in anti china propaganda and everywhere in the western news , you can hear that Chinese are poor and economy very bad with high unemployment and young people are depressed ..WTF .. Bloody idiots .. China is the geatest country in the World and look forward to visit someday.
China's economy is doing great! I've lived here for 5 years and they are always building something new, putting money into schools, hospitals, transport and so much more, China is cooking! And last Saturday I took my first high-speed train to Shanghai and it was fantastic!
When I stumbled into Jason's channel he looked like a young punk and he was not political at all. I like he moving around those back streets making jokes in a neutral way but I suspected he might be just another adventurer. Years later he become a husband and father and a respectable family man. While he has gained some fame and probably good income he still live in a very ordinary live. I respect him so much now because he is a decent human being.
Congratulations to your beautiful family. 🎉🎉
Damn, China went bankrupt for 20+ years straight. Can you imagine that? Even after all that and still going to be #1 in the world economy soon.
@zgzjb The problem is not China, it is the US. The US spread rumors of the collapse of China for so long, that it is getting ridiculous. Even after proving they are wrong, they still continue with the propaganda.
Well, listen to Western media that is feeding Americans false news and narrative for last 10 years at least.

The US is ruled by a bunch of financiers who don't give a single fuck about the people. On paper, the US has far more natural wealth than China but in reality, most of that wealth is parasitized and squandered.
@@qiaoxiaoshan2051totally😂
People in China are very resilient. They don’t complain about being poor for the last 30-40 years. They just work hard. Hence I always say those who make it really deserve the riches they get. President Xi really did enable the country to get out of the poverty they were in before. His backing by the people is immense and it speaks volume than any other countries support for their president. You cannot say the same for the US.
President Xi has shown money greed is not their aim. They want all to be wealthy together!
Generally, Chinese parents live for their children. They hope. They have dreams for them.
Education is paramount for Chinese society. Education = money = better future.
Kids are not expected to leave once they turn 18 or they think they are mature enough to leave once they turn 18.
It’s all about the mindset.
@@jusibai813 I watch a lot of the CGTN programmes about the people who help with educating all the children in the poorest of villages and are the true unsung heroes of the nation. They sacrifice decades of their lives to help the children be better educated and prepare them to go to work in the cities and adapt themselves to alleviate their whole families to come out of poverty. It is an emotional journey to not only be part of but also to watch. No one can escape from having tears in their eyes. I wish they could show these programmes to the rest of the world to see what real humanity means.
I was recently in China for a few weeks and it was bustling everywhere we went.

Great family video of normal life in China. Nobody marching to the capital to complain about the government. In UK, there's some new restriction being invented every day, but media keeps saying China is oppressed.
Just another David here 10,000 km away. You're not alone where new restrictions are being invented daily.
And I don't live in the UK nor China.
The democracy of oppression.
So true, they add restrictive ant intrusive laws while pointing at China
We don’t need your government and media to tell us that we are oppressed or not, mind your business. There will be no more constructive conversations anymore, if your country shows that kind of attitude to China or other countries all the time, it’s simply annoying to many of us that you want to get involved in other people’s business, unless you want war.
Every time we watch something your government or media says, it’s like forcing people to do something that they don’t like to do and it’s an order you must follow, or you do this wrong and you can’t do that, my way is the only way, etc. Too much arrogance is not a good thing. Imagine someone says something like that to you in real life.
A very good video expressing the real life in China. The little kid is so lovely. God bless this happy family.
This person has not been to America in the last 30 years. There are tent cities everywhere. There are people, who are working are still giving on the street. Lies may be what the liars want to hear, but the facts are very different. Is any western economy performing better than the Chinese economy? Why is it that all of major CEOs of the world, including American ones, are flying to China with their businesses? Liars are a special group. Facts have no role. China is the leading economy in the world and lies can change that.
Don't worry, according to US experts China had crushed from 30 yrs ago
It's normal, many small cities in China are like this. I'm Chinese.
Ways to tell if a country's economy is bad.
- ordinary people will not eat in restaurants, shops in place, spends, etc
- people will be evicted and be homeless
- people will be begging in the streets or begging for jobs in the streets
- people will be robbing and stealing, and wouldn't give a damn if they are caught
- organized crimes are all over the country
- you won't see happy people in the streets
- people will be selling their jewellery, furniture, stuff they owned, etc in the streets
- people will turn to drinking or drugs to forget their worries or problems
- abandoning of kids, pets, etc
- you see government reduce spending or do not have budgets for infrastructures, wages, projects, etc
- government be printing money or facing shutdowns
- closures of businesses especially the international brand companies
- banks are facing problems and shutting down
- politicians are living luxuriously while citizens suffering
- government going all over and asking foreign governments to buy their bonds
- country's infrastructures are failing
- politicians, media, government are diverting people's attention to foreign wars, foreign blaming, etc
- bailouts
Let us look, is China having all these? Or it is some other country is currently in that situation....go figure that out
Definitely not Merica!
Could not have said it better myself.
That is exactly what Toronto is going through. The city the that “gets the most funding” from the government. Food doesn’t taste as good and the overall quality of a lot of products has gone down, food prices are CRAZY and many people eat one meal a day. Coping with drugs and alcohol. While the companies that monopolized Canada are making record profit 😅
Wow... It hurts, Merica...

In fact, Guizhou was originally one of the largest poverty-stricken provinces in China. Within 5 years, nearly 10 million people have been lifted out of poverty, ranking 1st in China. This is inseparable from Guizhou's efforts to develop the big data industry. Guizhou becomes China’s 'Digital Valley' now!

Jason, to show how "bad" China's economy is, you will have to use grey filters for your videos and a sombre background music to set the mood. You are not using the filters and sounds like the BBC and CNN!
😂😂You also know very well those foreign media who like to spread rumors and smear
Their European countries no need filters also we know how terribly horror they are now.
@@sootuckchoong7077 Naw - they still need to use filters due to the large percentage of sheep out there living in their grandmother's bassment who haven't been to school yet. Just look at the number of followers of cult leaders alike SerpentZa and Laowhy86 as well as the 50% of Americans who still lap after Donald Trump, their Number 1 scam artist - those are the ones who still need grey filters for "China Bad", "China Evil" and rose-colored glasses for "USA Number 1". There are still many in Europe who believe that China is 100 - 200 years behind the rest fo the world - maybe not as many as Americans who believe that the whole world is just the U.S.A. but still quite a few who have never been outside their own towns and villages.
All kind-hearted people deserve to have such a cute baby😄😄
Hi, Jason! Your post are amazing, showing the real China and walking in the streets with your wife and your adorable son Lincoln
Over the past 40 years, China's poor population has decreased by nearly 800 million, accounting for nearly 75% of global poverty reduction during the same period. According to China’s current poverty standards, China’s poor population has decreased by 770 million. Foreign media will never mention that. 🇨🇳🇨🇳
They would never do that, nothing is good about China from their mouths, and they called that “freedom of speech”👎

@@杜惠彰-x4d I have applied hopefully people call me back. I may just have to teach Computer Science to get the $$$ and Visa.
Sounds like a good choice. The income of the software engineer in China is close to US, while the living cost in China is usually much lower than US
It depends on the job, there will be companies that promise a lot but you can end up in a bit of a s**t show. Not that it won't happen in any other country but I feel like the software industry in China is still a bit of a wild west scenario. Unless of cause if you get a job in one of the big companies, but it won't be easy, and what's the fun in that. Regardless you'll get more bang for your buck for sure especially once you figure out how and where to buy things, so I'd say you'll live more comfortably overall if that's what you're after.
@@lzl4226 Yeah, job scams can exist in every country, but I think in China it is usually only within small, unknown companies. Generally People are more likely to move to another country for high-level roles in relatively big companies rather than for low-level positions, which makes such scenarios rare.
Also, if you encounter such a case in China, it is free to apply for labour arbitration. The local arbitration committee will provide you with free lawyers; what you need to do is just to provide the evidence.

Canada is member of the Group of Seven rich democracies. The EIU says three out of the ten best cities in the world to live are in Canada (Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto). There are no Chinese cities in the top 60; Hong Kong is ranked #61. Canada's economic output is about $52k per person (GDP per capita). China's economic output per person is about $13k. The Double 11 shopping event in Taobao this year is not as hot as last few years. But that is not the sign of economic downfall. It is just the Chinese people were not interested in spending money to buy anything recently, and that doesn't mean Chinese people are getting poor!

The Chinese central bank reported the historical high of savings. Due to the international circumstances, people want to save more but not spend more. That makes perfect sense.
This year the total transaction volume of Chinese online shopping platforms actually increased 30% compared with last year. People just don't need to buying things during discount days because things are usually cheap enough even there is no discount

As an overseas student, I believe the CN hater and this bro Jason both have valuable opinions.
In China, not owning a house or apartment is embarrassing, and there isn't a household tax yet, so everyone at least has somewhere to live in remote regions. However, this isn't evidence of a well-functioning economy; We are getting tough period during to Mr.Trump's trading war and the trough of debt cycle, many Chinese are losing jobs, especially educated youth.
It's challenging to find a totally objective view about CN from around the world.
Thanks for sharing and surfacing the truth. 👏👍

that poorest Province looks cleaner and safer than most rich estates or any working class neighborhoods in Los Angeles..geezes!!
You are right. I was in LA in August, and Guizhou in October 2023. There is no comparison. In my opinion LA is looking a bit tired :(
Bless your beautiful family. The boy will turn up to be at least bilingual and will be growing up in a safe and vibrant environment if you folks remain in China. No doubt China was once very poor, relative to the developed world. Many parts of it remain so today despite the alleviation of absolute poverty in the recent past. But, just like folks in the tier 1 cities, SH, BJ, SZ & GZ, the rest will surely become prosperous in time to come. Not because of anything but the progressive policies that have been put in place over the past 40-50 years, refined along the way to suit the new demographics, and executed in a determined and disciplined way that many liberal democracies are unable to. This is what an iron-fisted but benevolent central-control regime can do. I should know. I'm from Singapore. We went from third to first world in less than 60 years, and are now 2nd in GDP per Capita based on purchasing power parity in 2022. And what are we? 5 million comprising of mainly descendants of uneducated Chinese migrants from southern China escaping wars and poverty from the late 1800s. If we can do it, surely the 1.4 billion led by descendants of mandarins and scholars from the Middle Kingdom can do better. So be patient. The CATL, BYD, Huawei, Alibaba, Tencent, HSR, C919, Solar Panel, infrastructure building along the BRI...etc will dominate in time to come and wealth will shift from west to east. No one will be able to resist the pull of the Chinese market. And when China becomes the biggest economy, you can bet your last dollar that the extant Anglo-Saxon narratives will self-implode.
Guizhou is very poor because of its unique terrain and too many mountains. However, with the improvement of high-speed transportation, Guizhou’s economic vitality is getting better and better. It is China’s natural oxygen bar and has almost no pollution.

Guizhou may be considered the poorest province of China, but that neighborhood is def not one of the poorest areas of Guizhou. Not sure what you're trying to prove with your video but even in the poorest states of the US, you'll still have very well-to-do communities that aren't feeling the economic impact as much even when the US economy, as a whole, is doing poorly. A well-off community in a province considered to be poor won't, at all, paint a proper picture of the state of a country's economic woes.
