Of all the common birds I've dealt with, Jackdaws are definitely the most polite. Seagulls very often resort to stealing, magpies always try chasing others away, but I've chilled with jackdaws several times and they just sit there without doing much. If I give them a snack they carefully accept it. Don't even fly away. Just eat it on the spot and keep chilling.

I've spent many a day in a park next to the Town Hall here in Oslo. All sorts of birds begging for scraps of bread... (As in my lunch sandwich). So Ive taken to buying and bringing a whole $1.00 loaf of brown bread each time. The sparrows zoom around, nicking food from the clumsy pigeons. The seagulls greedily trying to grab whatever resembles food. The polite crows and magpies awaiting their turn... Bar for one. Little "Rascal" the daredevil, even fights the odd gull for food. This summer I've watched him grow from a downy "pompom" to a "teen". With the attitude to match... While little he'd sit next to his mum, for comfort, while bird Bedlam was going on around my feet. Then his courage grew, along with his shiny new black feathers. Stealing a crust of bread from a gull, he soaked his prize in a small water basin, 3 feet away. Softening the crust to his liking. Before eating it. Mum crow watching proudly. (Her feeding duty finally over...) Rascal and the other corvids hide food for tomorrow. In the park flower beds. Always memorizing where. Rascal soon took to perch himself on the park bench back rest. Almost next to my shoulder. Knowing fully well I'd ply him with treats of cheese from my sandwich. Or the odd bit of banana. That is cool. We have a large Crow regular in our garden and it is getting used to me now as I feed it prawns and large bugs out of normal bird food. It's mate also visits and it's young has been 3 times. Would love for it to feed like the one in the video. Fed a robin 3 times like that last year and twice nearly got a blackbird to feed from my hand. Maybe one day.
Here's the thing. You said a "jackdaw is a crow." Is it in the same family? Yes. No one's arguing that. As someone who is a scientist who studies crows, I am telling you, specifically, in science, no one calls jackdaws crows. If you want to be "specific" like you said, then you shouldn't either. They're not the same thing. If you're saying "crow family" you're referring to the taxonomic grouping of Corvidae, which includes things from nutcrackers to blue jays to ravens. So your reasoning for calling a jackdaw a crow is because random people "call the black ones crows?" Let's get grackles and blackbirds in there, then, too. Also, calling someone a human or an ape? It's not one or the other, that's not how taxonomy works. They're both. A jackdaw is a jackdaw and a member of the crow family. But that's not what you said. You said a jackdaw is a crow, which is not true unless you're okay with calling all members of the crow family crows, which means you'd call blue jays, ravens, and other birds crows, too.
