    A mental coach should never say their client is "whining" about whatever they are upset about or experiencing when talking with them. It really draws into question the credentials of this "coach".

    • @kimberleyguest9912
      @kimberleyguest9912 10 месяцев назад +19

      Exactly. Anyone should realize that being subjected to that much surgery in a short time, strict diet, exercise, not being allowed to see themselves, and just recovery in general would have both physical symptoms and all kinds of emotions. A professional would work through it with them without judgement. What I can't believe is that these women weren't told that maybe now isn't the best time to have surgery since there are some psychological issues.

    • @dietotaku

      the entire premise of the show preys on women's insecurities and low self-esteem so it's no wonder they heap some emotional abuse on top so they get that "wow i look like kim kardashian now, all my problems are solved!" end result.

    The thing that really gets me about this, having had plastic surgery myself, was that they didn't let the women look in the mirror. I had a lot of body dysmorphia after surgery, and it took me time to reconnect with my body. Also, the pain and leftover anesthesia after surgery make a lot of people really emotional, so that "coach" bugged me. They should understand what the psychological process of surgery recovery is.

    • @kelleywyskiel3478
      @kelleywyskiel3478 10 месяцев назад +6

      Exactly. Same.
      I’ve always had extreme bd so “ shouldn’t” ever be a candidate for surgeries like this because I can’t process the after either.
      But it isn’t something I even knew I had until I was in my 40s and a therapist noticed I don’t recognize myself in old pictures and even startle at myself in a mirror until my brain catches up. lol
      It’s a weird thing. Tattoos shouldn’t happen either. It all seems harmless but there was a time when I would have swanned myself into something different then later hated that person too.

      I mean, it was the premise of the show… that’s what made it exciting. The interaction at 10:00 or so into the video speaks all about Kelly's feelings on the matter imo.
      The woman that came up to her asked, "How do you feel?"
      Kelly replies, "I feel beautiful."
      Then the woman responds with, "And you are."
      Literally the millisecond the lady said that, Kelly shook her head left and right, almost as if saying "no I'm not" after telling herself a lie in her previous response.
      Kelly still seemed super insecure about her appearance and probably had post-surgery regrets in this clip. So, no Dr. Youn, she wasn't happy in the least. Poor girl, hope things got better for her mentally. 😔

      That’s because her problem was self esteem. She looked really good, with normal psychologist, good make up, new healthy diet that can be maintained in long rung excercise and fixing the teeth, then she could explore different fashions and self esteem would come. And that would be interesting to see. From plastic surgeon I would do only breast lift but only if she really wanted that after she would be used to new diet and training.

    • @nunyabeezwacks1408
      @nunyabeezwacks1408 9 месяцев назад +2

      It is untrue that crowns are meant to be replaced every 15-20 years. I have a couple of porcelain-fused-to-gold crowns that have been in my mouth for 45 years, and some porcelain veneers that are 28 years old.
      My first set of veneers were vinyl laminates, so essentially just plastic. Since it was one of the first generation of materials for veneers, it just wasn't very sturdy for its use, and after twelve years, those veneers wore down from the mechanics of eating and toothbrushing and had to be replaced. Much better materials are available today.
      After gold, a material fairly kind to the opposing teeth, but not very esthetic, porcelain/ceramic is a great substitute for tooth structure, but the material must not be mistreated.
      Treat your crowns/veneers as enamel. Don't chew ice or very hard foods, don't abuse them by opening packages with them. Remove plaque regularly by brushing and flossing, not only to prevent caries, but also for gingival health. Some dentists also advocate chewing sugarless gum sweetened with xylitol, but only if your stomach can tolerate the xylitol.
      May your restorations be long lived!

      Plastic surgery isn’t a one-time magic bullet. When I had my breast lift/reduction the Dr. told me the lifted effect lasts 10-15 years. So for now I’m enjoying not wearing a bra, but I know that it will wear off eventually.
      When I had my tummy tuck I went to see a massage therapist afterwards for post-op lymphatic drainage. She told me she also had had a tummy tuck years ago - that revelation was very sobering to me, as she was obese and had a big stomach. She literally ruined her expensive plastic surgery by eating too much. So now I’m really careful not to overeat so my weight can stay within 10lbs, as much as i love my results the recovery from a tummy tuck is brutal and I wouldn't want to have to do it again. not to mention the $14,000 I spent.

I think all she really needed to improve her confidence was to get a therapist who is actually good at their job unlike the one on the show, work out, get a new hair do, and maybe learn to apply makeup if that’s something she’s interested in. I don’t like that a lot of the women on this show end up looking completely different. Honestly in 50 years that shaved bone is going to cause pain, the jelly bags will have to be removed, the fat will be back and it’ll be even harder to except being old. I was thinking that most surgeons don’t tell patients everything because they might change their mind and cancel the expensive procedure.

She was really already beautiful and didn't even need all that plastic surgery, but that said, they did a great job, and she still looked like herself afterward. I'll bet with the starvation diet and the mean coach and all that surgery at once, it was a miserable experience for the show participants

    IMPORTANT WARNING ABOUT CAPS! If your front top & bottom teeth brush past each other very closely, you can literally destroy your jaw joints & have to live with horrendous headaches & jaw pain forever. The horrible thing is, once you get your teeth drilled down to pegs for the caps you have only 3 choices; caps forever & jaw destruction, have all the front teeth pulled & get dentures, or if the problem is diagnosed early enough, a few years of braces may do it. I was given a medicine as an infant (tetracycline) which caused my permanent teeth to grow in dark grey. I got veneers in my teens, but they cracked off several times a year (this was back in the 70s; I assume [hope] they're better now). At 20 I got caps. They totally screwed up my bite b/c there was no room between the back of my front top teeth & the front of my front bottom teeth. Every time I closed my mouth, my bottom jaw had to slide backwards & my back teeth didn't quite meet. This sliding back & forth caused the joints slowly to grind each other down to nothing. I had the caps replaced 3 times, trying to improve my bite. Now, 40 years later, my jaw joints are completely destroyed. I haven't eaten solid food in years, never will again unless I get complete joint replacements. And even without chewing, my joints will eventually grow together & freeze completely in place, so I'll be forever with my teeth clamped shut, no doubt with a few knocked out so I can slip a straw thru for nourishment. Sooo...if anyone has a bite where the bottom & top front teeth are VERY close together, DON'T GET CAPS!! Or try to find a dentist honest & ethical enough to actually tell you that getting them could cause you to have lifelong agony & headaches & eventually, no jaw joints.

    • @kellyhoward6941
      @kellyhoward6941 8 месяцев назад

      @@herlinab9403 The first 2 incarnations were porcelain, both front & back sides. The last set have steel backs, which the dentist claimed was strong enough that they could thin down the back enough to save my bite. They couldn't thin them enough & didn't save my bite. The horrible thing is, if your bite is insanely close like mine, once you get your teeth drilled down to pegs you have only two choices; caps forever & jaw destruction, or have all the front teeth pulled & get dentures. No, wait, that's not true; if the problem is diagnosed early enough, a few years of braces may do it. I had no idea my jaw joints were grinding each others down to nubs until it was wayyyyy too late for braces. And thank you for replying; I'd been meaning to go back & edit the opening a bit to make it more of a warning so others don't end up like me, but I couldn't for the life of me recall which Dr Y vid it was on (I adore the man; if you haven't read his first book [Playing God, I think?], you should; if only all docs were like him!!!) He's a treasure. Funny too!
      I very sincerely hope that you aren't facing a similar situation, or if so that it's early enough to stop the pain & head off complete joint destruction. Best to you!

    6:32 I had to get a full set of veneers on my teeth since I had a lot of stomach issues and then cancer so my teeth were ruined by 25. 😭 my parents were kind of upset since I had braces until I was 17 for basically nothing. If I would have known my illness would have led to my teeth being ruined I would have not bothered with the discomfort of braces for all those years since they would have ended up perfect anyways😂

    Agree 100%. I see this with my folks, how difficult it is. It is what my grandpa (dad to 10 kids) always used to say: the longer you can keep your own teeth, the better. My mom & dad are 78 & 77 and my dad refuses dentures or to go to the dentist. He has a couple bottom teeth, say 5 and that's it. He can only eat "soft" foods. My mom has a full set of dentures and never, like grandma, wears her bottom ones in the house. They are a PITA to wear and keep in and chew with. A PITA. Nobody ever talks about how you can or can't still eat with any dental procedures done. And maybe dentists need to address this. All women in my family with dentures can not eat with the bottom ones in, and there's nothing wrong with them. Then you see these commercials about denture paste and then biting into a hard green apple. Yeah... right. 😱

      Your family members are not getting a proper fit for their dentures.
      I have had dentures for years following facial bone problems caused the loss of my own teeth.
      Mine are fitted very well and I have the inside surface matched to my gum profile, not smooth as many are made. I use dentures cream and have no problem eating with them and in fact can bite an apple.... 🤷
      The fit and internal profile are very, very important.....

      @@MKR5210 Ah a dentist responding. You *are* a dentist, right? Otherwise I don't see the point of you responding the way you are. Not that I *have to* even get into more detail over this, but there is a thing called "osteoporosis". Maybe, as a layperson, look up what that means to someone's bone (mouth), then talk about how "fitted" dentures should be. You can *never ever* transpose your own experience over someone else's and then tell them to go do something because hey, it works for you, so it should work for them, and there apparently is no other way in your world. Maybe, please, think next time you respond.

    I got my 6 top front teeth veneered 18 years ago at 19 years old. Why? Well, they were a gift from my grandparents. 🤭 How are they holding up? Well, my dentist says they have held up well especially considering I’ve *always* have had “bad teeth”. (hereditary trait) He seemed quite surprised that I haven’t had to have all of them crowned yet. I got 6, and 3 are already crowned, the other 3 *need* to be crowned but are okay, I guess, for now. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I will say, after I received my veneers…my confidence went through the roof and my insecurities melted away! I had never been complimented for being beautiful until *after* I got my veneers. So, yea, full-on confidence booster & self esteem lifter! 🤭 She should’ve just started with the veneers and dermatology visits, and got a personal trainer *and stylist.* Cause, not only did it change my smile but it also changed the whole shape of my face. And, I started college the fall after the summer I got them-therefore, I had full control over the meals I ate and instead of *gaining* the “Freshman 15,” I *lost* it! I needed to! Honestly, my veneers turned out to be one of the best gifts I’ve ever received! I do *not* regret it! And, to this day, I still get compliments on my smile-and it has made me a better salesman-my smile, + my confidence! #chefskiss 🫶🏻

      There is no such thing as "fat but fit" according to science. Eventually, you will have a health issue from it. I'm sure you look great and feel okay for now, but it will catch up with you. Studies show that being obese kills people an average of 7 years earlier than cigarettes. It's amazing how people who otherwise believe in science will ignore it when it's about their own weight. Fat activists are killing people.

I am 61 and have been working since I was 16 and cannot afford the procedures needed to just rejuvenate not completely obliterate my features. I work in local ER long hours for the past 30 years and can not even budget for fillers because there is always a car repair bill, family emergency and just the guilt of spending money on myself instead of helping someone else but would never even have thought about these procedures when I was their age.

Instead of uplifting her with positive thoughts that she's a wonderful human who's capable of tons they just gave her a list of procedures to fix the outside. Why not start with the internal? It all starts in the head. You feel good you'll believe in it. You may look good but feel crap than thats how you'll feel and until you fix that nothing could help.
