@@KutalooBasically, it got to the point where even at a Christmas dinner he would talk about theories with his family. He just wants to relax. He could sell his channels to other people or he could keep them and upload like once every 3 months or so. It really depends how he wants it to play out. If I was him I'd still upload just once every couple of months.
When I worked at Panera for a summer in Raleigh Matt Pat came in a couple times with his son. I wasn't the biggest fan but recognized him and he was super nice and humble he even thanked me for watching his videos. I wish him the best in the future truly nice guy.
My teenage son got me into Mat Pat and you! He told me yesterday that Mat was leaving and I thought he was joking!! But as a parent, I completely get where Mat is coming from. I also stepped away from my career a few years ago to raise my kids and I will never, ever regret that. He’s doing an amazing thing for his family- good for him. His content is so amazing, and I’ve loved being able to watch it with my kids, so we can relate and bond. Same with your work, Charlie! So I am glad to hear you’ll be sticking around awhile longer.

This man has worked tirelessly these last 13 years, hosting FIVE channels that all post WEEKLY. It's honestly insane how hard this man has worked, and I can't think of a single RUclipsr I'd be happier leaving in this fashion. No drama, no cancellation, just at the peak of it all, ready to take a step back.
For someone like MatPat, who could debatably be called a commentary youtuber to stick around for a long time and never step in controversy, that is extraordinarily lucky.

I see it as a good thing, the classic legends are saying goodbye to retire and live their lives, and to make room for new potentially legendary content creators. Art inspires art and Matpat was nothing short of inspirational.
Despite how bittersweet it is this was probably the best way MatPat could’ve stepped away. Mad respect for him for building something so unique and filled with passion over the years.

I could never imagine how difficult it is to watch your favorite youtubers grow up and the quit. I cried when CoryxKenshin even considered quitting a few years back y'all he wasn't just mentioning quitting, he wa literally planning on it. I do sound a bit weird by saying "he even mentioned quitting" but I was actually talking about how he said he was quitting at 10 mil and he was at 8 mil (He them gained 2 mil very quickly) It wasn't more of just mentioning quitting, he just was literally going to quit.

I've dedicated nine years to my channel. I had the hopes of turning it into my full job someday but RUclips decided to completely demonetize my channel last summer after their policy changes. I've tried and failed to get my monetization back. So, I ended up having to downgrade my upload schedule to 2 videos a month. I'm moving on to other sources of income I can find online. Still not quitting my day job.

Yeah it is sad to see him go I've been watching them since around 2014 during some tough and challenging times in my life and of course in 2016 when I found out I had cancer and had to go through chemotherapy their content along many others got me through some rough days and nights so I did cry a bit when I heard this announcement. But I wish him and Stephanie and his new son the very best and hope their next chapter is just as positive as this one was ❤

Mat always struck me as genuine, and I have probably only watched a video of his every couple of months. His energy, empathy and humor will be missed. Also: It's not just the catchphrases that will live on, he also established a template for video formats and had a direct link to the RUclips execs so it always felt like he's "our guy" on the inside and you could always feel he would get our grievances with the platform across. Matpat practically raised me through a very dark period of my childhood. I used his GTLive streams to help me sleep, to distract me from pain, to help me laugh on a bad day, and to this day I use his videos to wind down after work or listen to to feel calm and happy while I drive. I’m going to miss him so so much. It really hurts to see him leave but I’m also really happy for him. I believe I’ve reached the age now where I’ve learnt (from him) how to make my own happiness, and for that I’m grateful. I wish him the absolute best and I’m so grateful I had such a good role model in my life for so many years.

Watching Matpat’s retirement video, it’s really hard to not tear up.
It is, it’s like losing a friend you never knew you’d miss I mean he’s alive but it feels like he’s gone.
I've dedicated nine years to my channel. I had the hopes of turning it into my full job someday but RUclips decided to completely demonetize my channel last summer after their policy changes. I've tried and failed to get my monetization back. So, I ended up having to downgrade my upload schedule to 2 videos a month. I'm moving on to other sources of income I can find online. Still not quitting my day job.
I'm gonna miss the dude, he was my childhood and he will always have my appreciation for making my childhood amazing. Much love, Mat.

I think it's actually a lesser role to our preception only. He won't have a public facing role anymore, but it still sounds like he'll continue running his business. He'll just be acting in a CEO/CCO capacity, rather than as a public facing personality.

the guy made up my entire childhood and got me into fnaf and other video game communitys, i was already holding back some tears from coming out and just seeing him cry doing this goodbye video actually made me tear up a bit, especially knowing that some of his theories may never be finished..
Matpat introduced me to most of the Fandoms im in. I would never have looked at anything new if not for him, he really is amazing at getting people interested.

@@erdem42069 you dont understand the bond i had with this guy, back in highschool i used to come back home and search up his channel hoping for a new video or a follow up theory, this guy basically got me into gaming back then and i made so many memories from it.
plus seeing him hold back tears is kinda sad cause i know he doesn't wanna do this but he has to for his and his girlfriends sake, plus he also seems like hes sorry for what hes doing, like seriously, i just woke up and im immediately met with this video.

We will all miss Matpat, but no matter what we say or do… time goes on, and I am happy that Matpat has taught us that. We will truly miss him.

Yeah it is sad to see him go I've been watching them since around 2014 during some tough and challenging times in my life and of course in 2016 when I found out I had cancer and had to go through chemotherapy their content along many others got me through some rough days and nights so I did cry a bit when I heard this announcement. But I wish him and Stephanie and his new son the very best and hope their next chapter is just as positive as this one was ❤

I think we will be seeing more of this as the old school RUclipsrs get older and move on to other things.
Mat always struck me as genuine, and I have probably only watched a video of his every couple of months. His energy, empathy and humor will be missed. Also: It's not just the catchphrases that will live on, he also established a template for video formats and had a direct link to the RUclips execs so it always felt like he's "our guy" on the inside and you could always feel he would get our grievances with the platform across. Enjoy life Mat.

it is sad. but its the way of life. you grow old with them, eventually people want to retire, especially successful youtubers, they can retire early and the worlds changing, for the worst. ever since covid, nothing or anyone has been the same either, just feels like everyone is so tensed and angry.

its by now i realize how lucky we are to have the pioneers of youtube. like, these people were here from the beginning. i wonder what the future would be like when every single youtube veteran has disappeared from the platform. horrible i assume.
Matpat practically raised me through a very dark period of my childhood. I used his GTLive streams to help me sleep, to distract me from pain, to help me laugh on a bad day, and to this day I use his videos to wind down after work or listen to to feel calm and happy while I drive. I’m going to miss him so so much. It really hurts to see him leave but I’m also really happy for him. I believe I’ve reached the age now where I’ve learnt (from him) how to make my own happiness, and for that I’m grateful. I wish him the absolute best and I’m so grateful I had such a good role model in my life for so many years.
