I love typewriters. This is one of the old cheapie greats. A lot of kids wanted this one and the Deluxe model. Some came with stickers like Parents Magazine approved or something. I think they were $39.99 and they had the Websters and the Remington 333 that were similar and all Brothers. I think they took over the market you could even find them at K-Mart with their logo. I have American, Italians and Germans but I didn't buy them the family gave them to me as gifts. I thought these, the Deluxe and the Remington 333 were so cool.

Taking delivery of one of these tomorrow. Really love these earlier all-metal body Brother portables. Great video! That radio voice always makes my day.

I love the Brothers. My Kmart branded 100s are some of my favorites...

Yes, they are easy to use if you understand not to mash the keys but snap them as if they were too hot to touch. Enjoy! 楽しいですよ!

We just bought a Brothers Valiant typewriter that looks identical to this one. Ours is model P146644. Please post a video on how to change the ribbon. We do not see how to release the holders where the ribbon is struck by the keys. Thank you!

Probably hard to find this specific Brother model either online or at antique places.
I have two typewriters I own myself, but they are both modern 1990's electronic Smith Corona typewriters. Smith Corona SL570 and Smith Corona 350DLE Quiet Write. Hoping someday to get an old one like the ones on your RUclips channel or an IBM Selectric.

Can someone let me know what ribbon to buy for this typewriter? I was gifted this same exact one but need to replace the ribbon! Thanks so much!!

Brothers are extremely easy to accommodate in regards to ribbons & spools: any standard 1/2”(13mm) ink ribbon will do, and most universal spools will work fine; if it fits Smith Corona, Royal, Underwood, Olympia, or an Hermes then it’ll fit your Brother :) Ebay or Etsy will have your quickest results, with a fairly wide selection of color options

Brother manuals are good little machines, precisely made and good typers, they're just a little noisy, which isn't really an issue though.
They essentially made the same thing over and over again with minor changes here and there, and mostly sold them to department stores under various names, where they could be had quite cheaply, a "budget" machine if you will.
I've a Webster-branded Brother, and I like it a lot. Makes a little metallic "thunka thunka" as you go along, but I like that it's made of metal instead of plastic like so many other budget machines, types really well too.

Where did you get the rubber bushings? Just purchased one, possibly a bit newer, with dried out bushings.

Ron Simpson Ace Hardware! just about any smaller old-style hardware store worth its salt will have them.

I believe the technical term is “grommet.” Home Depot sells them as well.

I know these as the Brother De Luxe. They sometimes have a keyset tabulator. Interestingly enough I have never seen one of these offered in less-then Mint condition. In fact, many of them appear to have never been used at all. They often come complete with receipt, papers and everything. I wonder why that is. Never had one, maybe its time to find out.

Olumin - they’re pretty decent little typewriters! not the best, but far from the worst. I think they’re perfect for kids & beginners :)

Hi! How can I email you?
I have this typewriter as of today and everything was working pretty well until my ribbon started getting stuck and bunched up ever time I use the caps feature. Any advice? I am new to typewritering!
