Evernote: Backlinks In Action

Evernote introduced a new feature called ‘backlinks.’ Now when you add a link to a new note, you can track your link backward to the original note. Here are some practical uses of this new feature.

This is a good overview demonstration of how the new Backlinks feature works.
Toward the end of your video, you created a Car Rentals note and linked to it from your Itinerary note. When you then showed the Car Rentals note, it did not include Backlinks. This is normal. It usually takes about a minute for the backlinks to appear after you have created a new link. Also, if you are displaying the note, waiting for the Backlinks to appear, they seem to never come. I find that you have to display some other note, then again display the note where you expect to see the Backlinks before they will be displayed.

Gene - I've noticed that too. The delay isn't long...just enough to annoy. Hopefully they will fix the lag time.

Thanks Dave, that's a good overview of the feature. I'd like to see EN take the next step with backlinks and allow us to automatically embed links or previews for any backlinked articles into a page. I'd see it as an "add links for backlinked notes" button, which would insert links or previews for all backlinked notes into the page. That would make it really easy to construct a hub page like your main vacation one - create the empty hub note, create the sub-notes and link back to the hub, and press the button.
