Very powerful demonstration of this great kata, sir! Saw a little Saifa, Shisochin, and Seisan represented in this kata. I’m a Goju Ryu practitioner, but I would like to learn this kata and Anan kata, one day. Thank you for posting this video.
Outstanding! Hangetsu/Seisan is an easy kata to learn, but almost impossible to do correctly. Yours is one of the best interpretations I have seen. Very good!
It’s interesting that the opening of this kata is similar to the opening of Tomari Ryu Seisan. I like that modified boxer stance as opposed to the Sanchin stance sometimes.
Dear Master, do you advice also Shotokan students to practice the kata Sanchin before starting to perform this kata? This kata is so different compared to very typical Shotokan katas (e.g. kankudai, bassaidai, jion). To me ( 2nd kyu) the long stances seem a bit odd, especially when comparing to its okinawan twin Seisan. Maybe the stances were widened in their transition from Okinawa to Japan...
Hello; if may I; I do not get the very last side movement that you do. Is not in the Kata actually. Just a movement in line to neko ashi dachi not to the side first. Thanks
Although he has a lot of power, sadly much of the kata was unfortunately performed incorrectly. Look up and compare other to Hirokaza, Oshama, or check it out in the karate do kihon.
There is always divewrse execution of a kata. The Hangetsu comes originally from the Goju ryu. This is a great addition to the Shotokan. Thus the included elements must not be neglected. My execution aims to understand the teaching of Goju ryu.

You’re so right! I love Seisan, but I’ve yet to have it where I want it.

The basis of the different styles is always the same, from Okinawa. Therefore, you will always find similar elements in the kata.
1:46 is the strong one
very nicely done. what is the explanation (bunkai) for the very last move (lion paws or whatever it is called). thanks
Hello; I am not an expert, but a student and one very possibility is suffocation on pressure points.
@@TheReverb1 this is what I was thinking too, but I can't really find a demonstration of it.

Yes absolute! Thats what I always say. It nice to see to that you are thinking about those things
Question, is it good to combine kata hangetsu with six healing sounds chi gung?
Unfortunately I can't give you a reliable answer, I am not familiar with Chi Gung.

I see on the punch combination arm moves first then the hip, but when at speed it is lead with the hips🤔
