Nice review , 100w 6505 is a monster - even with my isocab , volume level 1 has it almost exploding open Raiders of the Lost Ark style ! You ever tried a peavey rockmaster preamp ? Its like a 6505 , but the distortion is crisp like "and justice for all" sound rather than fuzzy/fizz !
Definitely a beast! And actually the 6505 in the video is 120W, unlike my EVH 5150. It's impossible to go above 5 or 6 in this facility. It rumbles the house :D About the rockmaster, I heard of it before but never actually played. I will give it a go as soon as I can find one. Thanks dude!
Sounds amazing! considering getting one. my question is there are two versions the head that says pevey in the middle and the head that says 6505 in the middle. which one is best and why? why are there two versions of this head?
Great question! I'm also aware of the shell design difference, but I’ve played two of these models, and both were just like in the video. I don’t have any information about their circuits, but they all sound similar from the reviews. Even if there is a difference, it would be hard to recognize.
Did you do the Purple Tolex on the amp yourself or is Peavey selling them that way? Awesome playing BTW!!! Liked and Subscribed after just finding your channel today.
The problem with most lunchbox amps, is they are not worth the price. Just checked reverb. New 6505mh goes for around $700, used 6505mh is about $500. Used 6505 120w....... $600
The price might seem illogical from time to time, but most people have no place to play a 120W 6505 properly. Unlike cheap bedroom amplifiers such as Gigmaster 15, Dark Terror, etc., I think, Peavey considers this mini head to be a real 6505 but with lower output and puts a proper price tag for this situation. Still, I would go for a 120W no matter what :D
Which IR dude :D It would be best if you watched the signal chain section. It directly comes from a Mesa Rectifier Std. 4x12 and a Shure SM57 on half cap-half cone position.
@WrathVault - Ahh gotcha. Still in light of that the Mesa should still of been way tighter. I really want to like that lunch box as I'm a 6505 fan but somethings missing. Trouble is with amp sims of the quality they are now like DSP Nollys 6505 and STL's AJ 6505 on download it seems overkill unless your are actually gigging with a band to buy one.
Man, I'm no expert, and I'm just trying to show the sound as raw as possible to highlight what the item really is. Sometimes the items don’t sound as cool as in other videos since I’m not using any small “hi-cut” or “low-cut” tricks, or a load box with a mix-ready IR. This approach lets me say it is what it is without hesitation. I compared this with a 120W 6505, using the same cab and mic on the same day, and that amp sounds way tighter than the mini head. I’m a huge supporter of digital alternatives too. They’re compact, cheap, and easy to use, but we have to accept they can’t represent the actual sound 100%. I’m okay with using them when I’m fine with the missing 5-10%. Regarding the lack of tightness in the mini head in this video, could you please watch the comparison and share your thoughts on the 120W version? I’d like to know what I might be missing from a fellow 6505 fan, but it could also just be a matter of different tastes. ruclips.net/video/nZ48OEizHHs/видео.html&ab_channel=WrathVault%7CTolgaSERT
Beautiful custom color on that MH. Definetly interested in seeing the fullsized head being compared to the minihead.
😃
Soon
Great video :).
Amazing Amp with magnificent color

Nice looking amp but i am waiting for a comparison. 🤘🤘
This month will be the 5150 month, stay tuned!

Thanks for your good words and support! The amp belongs to a friend and he sent the amp to Hesu in Poland for tolex.
I wish they made more money lunch box value amps that affordable.
I think lunchbox amplifiers are in their prime. Brands are making lots of them, some pricey and some not, but I think we have many options.

Must be the IR your using because this 6505 mini sounds flubbier than Jabba the Hutt. The STL Tone Andy James Amp Sim 6505 sounds better to me.
