Captain, most guys who buy a boat and think it’s wine glasses and our a bit non mechanical , learn to late. I am impressed w your protocol and awareness of dealing with issues. Safe travels
Happy fathers day. And you got the fixes done and handled like always. Can't go boating without troubles, but being prepared and knowing your equipment is everything.
Well I thought when you left your home, "let the fun begin"..........it's always something with our boats. Sunny days, smooth waters ahead, and a few cold beers. 😀😀😀
Great video! After having owned many boats thru the years, which required me to slither around like a snake into various confined spaces to work on whatever was broken, I finally got tired enough to not want to do it anymore. As a result, about 80% of the reason I bought my present boat, is because absolutely everything on it, is easily accessible to maintain, repair or replace. Of course, I'm older than you two, so my reduced abilities are a factor these days, just as much or more than my attitude about such things. Looking forward to your next installment!👍
Well done you, for getting repairs done 👍 Lake Okeechobee looked really spooky with nothing else on it, didn't expect that. Great videos these, thankyou
Regarding your engine temps, I have a mercruiser 496 mag with the same setup as your engines. I know you had some raw water pump issues and used some aftermarket wear plates. I did the same thing but ultimately changed my pump to a solid stainless steel pump from Hardin Marine. It’s a better built pump, it’s serviceable and about $500 cheaper than OEM.
My water pressure looks good. I was going to check engine alignment. Been a while and I notice that motor is harder to spin properly by hand than port.
Such an odd design for that water fitting. Wonder if you can have a 3D printed aluminum or other plastic or maybe carbon fiber fitting made. Good patch. Good luck and Happy Fathers Day to you as well.
That’s why the call these trips”Adventures” Good thing you know how to deal with issues like these-for some it could be the end of an “Adventure” and a visit to the boat yard(Bank).I’m also impressed by the total lack of cursing-LOL-I’d be lighting up the F-bombs for sure.
Great video to start my Sunday. Relaxing with a little bit of "action". I'm curious.. can I ask what the fuel burn is for that one engine running on its own vs both? Wondering how much harder that engine is working. Love to see her up to speed too! Will be interesting to see the difference after the next prop maintenance and re-pitch in the future. 😎
@@AdventuresofHappyOurs Ahh.. ok. I was thinking that you were doing the same speeds and wondered if it was like 4gph+4gph (two engines) and then 6gph on one engine at the same speed. If you ever do that test, I'd be curious. 😎
And also.. Thanks for the replies! I really enjoy your channel. One of these days, I'm going to ask your thoughts between your two boats. I recently sold my Rinker 270EX (260EC) which is similar to your Regal. I am trying to decide between a Meridian 341/391 or a Sea Ray 370 Venture. I can't help but think the 370 might be a better fit for me as a "single" boat. (Great Lakes, mostly day boating and some weekends).
Seems like you will be hitting rain once a day. Thanks for sharing. Really enjoying the locks and the engineering that went into them I think back in the 1940’s?
do you ever feel that as great as boating is, the stress of having 100+ systems to worry about and maintain, and having 1-3 breaking down at any one time is just not worth the anxiety?
Yes. It’s a sigh of relief not having a boat. I did more worldly things like camping, hiking, hunting, vacations, visiting family. lol But for some reason the water keeps calling me.
@@AdventuresofHappyOurs well put! i guess it's hard to match the highs of a successful outing. minute for minute a perfect boat trip is about as good a way as you could be spending free time
I’ve worked on commercial vessels my whole life and I cannot magibe working on/owning a boat with so many plastic fittings. Especially with fuel or waste water
Do you have a part number for that cool fuel fitting inlet piece? I've never had an issue with mine, but I'd like to carry a spare seeing how much it acts up on you. Hang in there, bumpy roads lead to beautiful places.
Enjoying your adventure from the relative security of my house in North Port! I think you have Mercruiser engines? Maybe you could find a Mercury dealer ahead of your next stop on your trip and order a replacement part if needed and Uber from a docking point. Frustrating, I know from experience. At least you know how to diagnose and repair different issues which is worth $200 an hour... Sending a virtual "Docking Beer" from afar... Incidentally, does your BoatUS/SeaTow membership cover you while on your excursion?
I considered ordering and having shipped but the part was less than a year old and failed. So I’m going a different route. The new generation uses barbed fittings and there is a way to retrofit it. Future video.
What a cliff hanger!! That cooling line leak is crazy, what a poor design and implementation. That you has O rings on board is impressive, but then you also had a spare fitting for the vacuflush?? Seems that that hose needs some support, always something to do!
That’s the spec for these motors. 180 degree thermostat. Alarms at 186. You want to catch it before it causes issues with other systems. Melted exhaust hoses, burnt impellers, etc.
On the fly boat repairs...I remember it well!! Keep smiling. You guys got this.
well another informative video for my afternoon viewing thanks so much stay safe alk in michigan
Your videos are awesome, expect to hit 100k subscribers soon with this kind of quality. Safe travels.
Thanks. I wish. Lol
Great work on those repairs, always fun when you have to do stuff like that on the fly

Impressive MacGyver skills!!!!! Way to check the boat out before leaving Moore Haven.

What’s an adventure without an issue. Can’t wait till the next episode…the suspense.

Always a mechanical or two. Good that you can fix these problems when they occur. Keep smiling!!
Guys i dig the loop videos! I've been following you since your trip from NY. great content!!!
At least you were prepared to make a temporary patch on those issues and continue the crossing of the big frying pan lake!

I use that app too! Love it!

Tommy, good thing your mechanically inclined, to fix alot of issues. It's always something failing. What will break down next?
I’m guessing the generator. Lol. Been using it a lot on this trip.
Mc Gyver in action!! Lol😂😂
And I was thinking about buying another boat 😂😂

I’ve heard of makeshift fixes using 3m 4200 and a barbed fitting. I picked some up at a hardware store and will try it if it leaks again.

I have to edit those out mostly. Lol
Here's a bunch of Luck sent to ya.

Depends on speed but about 4 GPH at 2000rpm/ 7mph
@@AdventuresofHappyOurs vs running both engines? (actually.. I think I remember you going over this in one of your past videos.. I'll look for it).
That’s with running one motor. Running both is double the fuel usage but only 2-3 miles per hour faster.
@@AdventuresofHappyOurs Ahh.. ok. I was thinking that you were doing the same speeds and wondered if it was like 4gph+4gph (two engines) and then 6gph on one engine at the same speed. If you ever do that test, I'd be curious. 😎

Which model do you have. The old version like I have with the bracket or the newer updated one with barbed fittings?
The newer style. My cool fuel modules were updated by Mercruiser a few years back
@rexphinney3599 here the parts page for your CFM. www.mercruiserparts.com/bam/subassembly/31648/15047/50

BoatUS will cover US waters. If going to Bahamas I have to verify. Thanks for the docking beer! Had a few last night!
Is there a channel across Lake O that you followed or did you just cut straight across for the lock on the east side?
Oh yes! You have to stay in the channel! Gets shallow quick with rock.
What a cliff hanger!! That cooling line leak is crazy, what a poor design and implementation. That you has O rings on board is impressive, but then you also had a spare fitting for the vacuflush?? Seems that that hose needs some support, always something to do!
I knew that vacuum flush fitting was stripped and was a temp fix from a while ago, so I had the part aboard. Having spares makes it less stressful.
Is that corrosion due to you being in salt water - or would that build up even happen in freshwater?
Salt wreaks havoc. It accumulates in places and breaks plastic parts.
how is 184 too hot for the engine I do not get it most modern engines with load run way hotter
