The chest one would be useful, but only if I could also have the bottom of the chest be exposed or at least half of the bottom exposed, so as to be able to empty the chest

Not even lying fr I came up with the comparator thing lol prob like 10 people who where experimenting prob did the same. I even have screenshots of me testing it with the Date and I'd you look at it it would say I date about the same the copperbulbs where released.
