To be fair, Will filmed "Emancipation" the year before the Oscars (Summer 2021). Also, the Netflix deal with Chris was penned back in 2016. The timing with everything just fell in a weird way. Also, the "entanglement" was really an open relationship situation that was exposed. He wasn't upset that it happened. He was upset that it got out there. Also, apparently, Will had told Chris privately to stop talking about his wife in public at the last Oscar that Chris hosted, back during the Oscar protest.
Also, the Chris Rock special was not funny but to each their own. While it wasn't funny to me, he does have the right to share his point of view to his audience.
At the end of the day, this whole thing was messy and I wish them both healing so they can move on from this.
Chris is way smarter than people give him credit for, the reason he didn't swing back when he got slapped was because he was the host of the show. If he hit back, he wouldn't have gotten paid and it honestly would have ruined his reputation.
