We are in Gloucester, which is conveniently situated on the M5, Junction 11 from the north, and Junction 12 from the south. Only 2.5 hours from London and 1 hour from Birmingham, Gloucester is a perfect weekend break or day trip.
The direct drive from Gloucester to Birmingham is 66.5 mi (107 km) and should have a drive time of 1 hr 7 mins in normal traffic. However, we took longer than that as we faced traffic on the way, especially when entering Birmingham.
If you are from Gloucester or have visited before, you’ll know that it is a city that offers something for everyone, and if you haven’t yet been … what are you waiting for, get there on a road trip or other means of transportation. Gloucester is located on the River Severn, proudly positioned with the most inland port in the UK, with a strong industrial past, clearly visible from the warehouses that still line the docks today. Gloucester is a city that is bursting with history, is vibrant with events and festivals, has a wonderful food and drinks offering, a shoppers paradise, a fab rugby team, and just so much to see and do, with many new developments to look forward to, including the Food Dock.
One of Gloucester’s strengths is its array of attractions. For a city of its size, it outperforms in terms of things to do. One of which is the famous Gloucester Cathedral
