The plot depicts how wealthy society matron Stella Hadley selfishly refuses to sacrifice her family or material comforts during World War II, until tragedy strikes an old rival. The film was turned into a radio play, which aired on the one-year anniversary of Pearl Harbour, (December 7, 1942), on the Lux Radio Theatre on CBS. It featured much of the same cast as the film, including the top stars.(from Wikipedia)

@@mathonamoore123 - I don’t think I am telling the story. What I post is a “synopsis” of the play (or movie) - a short description of the general theme. If you feel that you don’t want to know anything at all about what you are going to hear in the broadcast, then you need not read any of my comments. It would probably be wise not to read *any* comments ahead of listening to the show, as there are the odd ones who do give away the ending. I don’t do that as it is something which I really dislike. You could simply *not* read any of my comments *or* don’t read any of the comments until after you have listened to the play. Please accept my apologies if my comment(s) have in any way affected your enjoyment of the play(s) - it was never my intention to do so. I do know that many listeners appreciate a small hint as to the general plot line. The uploader is hard pressed to find time to put such an outline in their Description and appreciates it when others do it for them.

@Roberta: My goodness, one would think you had revealed the D-Day landings on June 5th! I enjoyed both your comments.

@@robertapearson3507 hello, no I owe you an apology. I'm usually not so mean. I was having a bad day, I'm very sick the past 15 years and it's hard to cope. I am 100 % bed bound the past 6 years. None of that is your fault though. Thank you for being gracious to me. I would have handled, my comment, just as you did. In fact, I did recently. A person was mad and I said, I hope you're not having a bad day and here's a hug for you. Most people are good but can be having a bad day. Only once did a person reject my explanation. He used personal insults about me being Irish and told me enjoy my potatoes for dinner. That was an insult referring to the Great Famine of the mid 1800s. Anyway, God bless and I won't be rude to you again. 11th of June 2022 from Ireland. 🇮🇪🙏❤️
