  • International U.S.A. dressage rider Anna Buffini and Hall of Fame Thoroughbred racing jockey Mike Smith met at Foothill Physique Studio in Monrovia, Calif. for a friendly workout competition, comparing notes on what works best for them and pushing each other to try some exercises a bit outside of their comfort zones.
Smith has a gained reputation throughout his career as one of the most dedicated workout enthusiasts in the sport as he has remained at the top of his game for more than 40 years in the saddle. Buffini had her work cut out for her as she attempted to match strides with the 58-year-old living legend during a memorable visit to the fitness center.
Smith is the all-time winningest rider in the history of the Breeders’ Cup World Championships with 27 victories and has a great chance to add to that total Nov. 3-4 at Santa Anita Park, where he is expected to ride Tamara in the $2 million NetJets Juvenile Fillies and Geaux Rocket Ride in the $6 million Longines Breeders’ Cup Classic.
