Great job Marsha and thank you for sharing the recipe and for great laugh!!! I hadn't laughed that hard in a long time when you said, "hotter than Satan's toenails"!!! Oh my gosh, that was some funny crap right there, I don't care who you are!!! 😂🤣😂🤣😂
This is a funny story. I’ve made this many times. One day at the lake we had a small amount leftover. We put it on a large rock. The seagulls ate it all. Since then my kids always said are you making seagull potatoes? That’s its forever name now! Lol
Funeral potatoes get their unique name from being a crowd-pleasing casserole served as a side dish at after-funeral luncheons (particularly in the culture of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints).
I have no idea how much fat is in this recipe. Funeral potatoes are comfort food. I guess if you are watching your fat intake this would not be a good recipe choice. 😂 thank you so much for watching ❤️
This is comfort food, best for large gatherings. 🤷🏻♀️ I have done this dish for church events, gatherings, potlucks, and funerals. 🤷🏻♀️ You can never go wrong with cheese.
Not nice? Here in the South we gather after a funeral to show support and respect and EAT. Dying is not a bad word. Funeral is not a bad word. Eternal life is not a bad expression. It’s celebrated. This recipe is food for the soul.
Really, Seriously?? Regardless of its name. It's known for being a "comfort" food, to share when family and friends are brought together. I've known this recipe called all my life as being a funeral casserole, and probably the best damn casserole there is. Feel free to rename it when you make it, but don't be surprised when someone refers to your "casserole" and calls it a funeral casserole. Just saying hahaha!!! ❤️
Imma have to try this recipe !! Can never go wrong w/ potatoes n cheese 😋

Thanks Marsha! One of my favorites too. God bless 👍
You are so welcome
I have made this recipe many times without the cornflakes topping. I will try it with the topping the next time. Thank you.
Agreed and it sounded really good. I may have to try some French onions too.

This is interesting information. I wasn’t sure where it came from. Thanks for the information 😊
Do you bake covered or uncovered?
Uncovered
Great idea but how much fat is there in this recipe? Cheese, sour cream, a tin of soup and butter. I can just feel the kilos piling on.
