      The performance after this (in Plan 9 from Outer Space) was just Bela making an appearance early on in it.

      And the film "Ed Wood" wants you to believe that Wood actually let Bela get into freezing water in the middle of the night to roll around with a rubber octopus - even though if you watch this it's clearly another stand-in that looks nothing like Bela.

      a pro until the end ✊
      (like many actors down the years, they have ONE big smash role...But then continue to just WORK (down those harsh, unappreciating drama-mines) for decades afterwards
      - I always respect a character actor that just does the WORK, and does it well, regardless of whatever crap they're in)

      @@robotrix Although in real life, those reviewing Bride of the Monster during the premiere weren't mean-spirited at all, unlike those in the film just threw stones at the cast members while destroying the cinema.

    Fan fact: In Bram Stoker's novel, Dracula was described to have the strength of 20 strong men. This had to be a refference since Bela was, is and ALWAYS will be Dracula.😊

      I think Dracula was Bela Lugosi's only good movie, but i still enjoy watching many of the others. I think he me around 176 movies in his career. His work with Ed Wood was quite entertaining.

      @@1940limited Yeah, 90% of what he did was (sometimes charming) tosh - With a SMALL handful of legitimately great movies.
      Same as with ALL those gen#1 Horror stars, far as I can see......Hollywood then and now clearly sees Horror as a lesser genre, and its actors not fit for 'better' work elsewhere
      (though how they arrived at that conclusion is anyones guess)

      He does not say Lobo is gentle as a kitchen. He clearly says kitten. Kitchen is one of the many errors in Worst Films Ever Made book

    I find Ed Wood's movies to be watchable, but anyone who thinks he's the 'worst' filmmaker needs to watch anything directed by Andy Milligan or Larry Buchanan!

      Agreed. One person once said Ed was the worst director ever and that was that. The worst films are boring films and for all the flaws in a Ed Wood film, they are never boring.

      I think it was that book by the Medveds, called "The Golden Turkey Awards", or something like that, and many of their wrong headed reviews were for films that you could tell they hadn't actually watched!

      I also agree. At least on the plus side, the notoriety got his movies the exposure they never received at the time. He is at least now famous and viewers can make up our own minds about his abilities. Wood's movies are fun and made with enthusiasm, which is more than can be said of dreary crap like Robot Monster.

    I don't know why I find these reviews so amusing and funny but I do. Lots of creativity in all of this. But then I always liked these type movies, sometimes so bad they are so good.

    One thing you can say for Ed Wood's movies is that they were always entertaining. I've never seen one I didn't enjoy. I've watched them all several times, including this one.

    The guy who played the police chief was also in "The Sinister Urge" as a taxpayer who had to be set straight as to why porn is a vice.

    Broadly speaking, you can hear the dialogue, see what's going on, and can follow the story (such as there is one). Oh, and it's reasonably entertaining. None of those are necessarily given for plenty of other films, so how Wood is the "worst" director is beyond me.

    I thought this was probably his best one. It's quite good. Maybe "Jail Bait" is better though a different genre. Something about Ed Wood's films - they portray people much more like they are in everyday life without all the froth & bubble of contrivance.

    Seen the MST3K episode a dozen times and a thought occurred: if Harvey B Dunn (also look for him in Teenagers from Outer Space and The Sinister Urge, written by Ed Wood) is missing his right index finger, as they reference, why does his character carry his gun in his right hand?

    I recommend watching the MST3K Episode of the same name, their riffing of this film, turns it from entertainingly bad to pure comedy.
    You'll love their "Hired! The Musical" since it's a musical parody of the Jam Handy training film "Hired!'

    I wanted to see Bride Of The Monster for sometime and now I have! No one cannot say, " no" to Bela Lugosi ( Count Dracula)! Also, the redesign of the giant octopus in that movie that was done by MonsterKingOfKarmen is cool too!

    Bride of the Monster seems like an... entertainingly crappy film, even better with the riffing! Keep up the good work.
    Of course, the MST3K episode of this is great, especially with the Crew's musical of the short film called "Hired!"
