Very instructive video, thanks for sharing! Now I have a question: I have combined a Strat SC (neck) with a P90 (bridge). They are connected RW/RP, and they are indeed humbucking, but in combination, the sound is like out of phase, very thin and significantly less loud. I also swapped the nec PU in a Tele for a Strat PU and combined, the sound is full and humbucking. What could be the reason for this? On the P90/SC guitar, I use 280 Ohm pots, to give the P90 more clarity. Also tried 500 Ohm, same result. Another strange thing: if I dial the volume to less than 8, the tone pot suddenly loses its function, like always full on. Capacitor? Compatibility? Any suggestions are highly appreciated.
Sooo, if I have two singles, one having the winding kinda clockwise, the other one - counterclockwise, aaand their magnets are pointed up with opposite polarities... I can make a humbucker? You see, the problem with humbuckers is that even if one coil is switched off it's still not a single. Since, as we all know, humbuckers usually have a big magnet underneath and between the two coils and magnetic conductors going through the coils, rather than magnets. Maybe making two mirrored singles and put them together can help having benefits of a humbucker and a more single-ish sound when coil split?
Can you combine a single coil neck pickup with one half of a split coil bridge humbucker and create pseudo Tele sound with noise cancelling? If so how do you wire the four leads? Would you separate the coils and use the coil split switch to switch between a normal humbucker series connection and just one of the separated coils? If so which coil should you use to cancel the hum?
Yes you can. I cannot answer your other questions as different manufacturers use different wiring / magnet polarities. That'd have be answered by them.
Hi mate, I'm having issue sourcing the terminology for a wire replacement for a single coil pickup, the wire has normal stranded wire Only with a solid wire within the 1 strand,do you know the name of the wire or where I can get it? It's something that's bugging me now as I can't find it anywhere to buy, thanks in advance
@@Alegree hi mate, yes it appears to be a single core only difference is that it has a thin solid wire core PVC coated wire within the same 1 wire so I guess technically it's 2 core, I can find a similar wire Only it's both stranded wires instead of 1 solid,1 stranded, strange as I can't find nothing on it 👍
Well explained and has shed light on a few issues I've had in past while combining odd pickups. Thank you 👍

Yes exactly. You will get a very high output humbucker though, it won't be anything like the normal humbuckers you're accustomed too.

@@Alegree Thanks. I wasn't sure if the differences between them would cause a problem.
Great info! Thanks, kind friend!!!
Help. !!! My custom bass pickups cancel out when two p bass pick ups are on at the same time any tips to fix this ???
Flip the leads of one of them.

Any chance we could see a video of the chameleon set
I'm working on having the previous videos reuploaded at the moment.
