- On our second Virgin Voyages Scarlet lady cruise Bob surprised us with the Splash of Romance Package. Is it worth the $200 splurge?

We purchased the Splash of Romance for us and our parents on our upcoming cruise. We like priority boarding. That and the champagne seems to make it worth it by itself. We have only done Carnival cruises and usually either get Faster to the Fun or a suite. Splash of Romance seems like a Faster to the Fun with extras!
That’s so great! The shake for champagne is so much fun! We like being able to get on the ship early too, the more time on board the better! After your cruise next year you have to let us know how you liked Virgin compared to Carnival. We’ve done one carnival cruise (a looong time ago) and love the Virgin Vibe. Hope you do too!

That's too funny about the spa being work. My mom is an aesthetician, so I've been in salons and spas most of my life and although it doesn't feel like work, it doesn't feel relaxing to me either.
I think that’s exactly it, we wouldn’t have felt relaxed 😌 totally different vibe when you work in this industry 🥰

Overall, good review. IMHO, if you want the champagne and the thermal suite, it is a good deal. Otherwise not so much. You cannot trade the champagne for anything else--for instance, say you don't want champagne; it cannot become $100 on your bar tab. One thing puzzled me. Bob referred to hoping your arrival time was early. If you have Splash of Romance, it doesn't matter what the time you selected initially is--the priority boarding makes your arrival time the earliest they are doing. That used to be 1:30, but has been changed to 2:00 on our next cruise. VV likes to attach a dollar value to priority boarding, but there are other ways to have priority boarding--book a suite, be a Sea Rover, etc. If you qualify for one of those, there is no additional benefit in that regard for the Splash of Romance. It goes Rockstar, then Romance, then Sailing Club. We have always been in our cabin within 15 minutes of our scheduled arrival time; yes, I guess we "paid" for our Sea Rover status with previous cruise fares. Beyond that, you get a few munchies in your room and juice from a carton, not fresh squeezed. and a cocktail party invitation. To answer your ending question--it is available on every cruise and is limited to 75 cabins on each cruise. There is ALWAYS a bonus added to each $300 purchased bar tab--the normal is $50 (so you pay $300 and see $350 on the credit), but they do offer specials when they add $100. This applies only to PURCHASED bar tabs. If your booking includes a free bar tab, you get only the specified free amount, not the bonus.
So my final analysis is that I don't like the champagne (agree, the shake for feature is fun once), and already have priority boarding. A 3 hour thermal suite pass is $59 per person. I don't need any more munchies on board and the juice from a carton that they sell fro $13 is nothing that I can't get at my local grocery store. I can get juice from concentrate in The Galley. Not trying to be a downer, just to give another perspective. Again, if you will use the thermal suite and the champagne, go for it.
We appreciate your perspective. Of course this package isn’t valuable to everyone and its not something we would do on every cruise for sure.
This was our second sailing on the Scarlet Lady so we are aware of the bar tab bonuses & embarkation times, etc. we sailed as rock Star the first time so we liked having the comparison.
I can absolutely see if you aren’t a champagne fan this isn’t worth it at all.

I agree, we didn’t even go to the cocktail party associated with splash of romance. Having premium WiFi included would be a great perk.

There is a sail away party on embarkation day that is for everyone and if they are still doing the splash of romance cocktail party it is just for those people who purchased splash of romance, it will be on a separate day. There will be a paper in your cabin explaining where and when it is.
Yes the spa does include the thermal spas and steam room and sauna.
You can do your shake for champagne that’s included in the splash of romance from anywhere on the ship (including your cabin) on any day 😁

My husband and I are 50 something platinum Disney cruisers and doing our first Virgin Voyages cruise in 29 days. So glad I found your channel today! I'm enjoying all the helpful tips for Virgin virgins. We did book last minute and were not able to book the earliest arrival time. If you book this splash of romance package, do you automatically get an earlier arrival time? For us that alone may be worth the upcharge since I hear it's tough to book shows and events once on board if you aren't in the earliest arrival groups. Thanks!
Hi there! Yes if you purchase the splash of romance package you will be able to get a much earlier arrival time, right after those in a Rock Star cabin and those with Deep Blue Extra status. (virgin’s loyalty program ). Definitely worth the price of the splash of romance for us.
We are gold DCL cruisers and Virgin matched our status, although I’m not 100 %sure Virgin is still doing that at the moment, I would search “Virgin deep blue extras” for the latest info on that.
Even if you do purchase splash of romance and your app shows your original port arrival time, you can arrive at the port around 1:15 and show that you have the splash package, they will show you to a que where you can board much earlier. Hope that helps and have an awesome time on your cruise!
Just checked it looks like Virgin has paused their status match program and will be rolling out a new program in the near future

Thank you for your review. My husband and I are thinking of getting the romance package. But we don't really drink alcohol. Maybe for this upcoming trip we will. We do like sweets so that will be nice to have in our room. Is lemonade and soft drinks included in our sailing already? We have the $300 credit and planned on using for cold press juices. I like the priority boarding you mentioned, the spa and the treats. Not certain about the champagne but i think we should try it😊

Hello! So glad you found our review helpful! Yes soft drinks are included we didn’t really see lemonade anywhere but that doesn’t mean it isn’t offered. The sweets are delivered only on Certain days. On our 4 night sailing they brought them on day 3 and 4 I believe. They do have some lovely mocktails on the ship, in the bars and restaurants you can use your bar tab for that as well. You valued always share your champagne with new friends you’ll make, everyone in these cruises is so friendly!

Cruises are great! But I think people love them or hate them depending on your personality. We still love Disney, we are just discovering there’s more out there we enjoy 😀

I am so disappointed that it’s not fresh squeezed juice. I was willing to pay for it, but I can get juice in cartons at home.
We were a bit surprised the juice came from a container too. Interesting flavor combinations but we weren’t super impressed with it.

i really wish they had something like a Splash of Romance but for friends. Like a girls trip. I would pay $200 to get priority boarding and shake for champagne but not the rest of the romance part of it. You know what I mean? ; )

I totally know what you mean! I think you could probably still do it too we thought it was worth the price for priority boarding and the champagne too, the little snacks and spa pass were just extras.
They could totally sell the same package and call it something else so it wouldn’t feel weird lol!

Hi there! We aren’t 100% sure because we watched the sail away from our cabin When we had Splash of romance. But I’ve read it’s still at Richard’s. There will be a paper in your cabin telling you where it is though for sure. They do sometimes move things around. Have a great cruise!
