    Jahmyr has nearly 600 less rushing yards than Saquon with nearly 100 less touches. I really feel like if he didn’t have to split touches, he’d be right there with Saquon. Might be a hot take, but he’s one of the best RBs in the game.

      I like to think that Jahmyr is NOT beating his body up nearly as much as a RB that plays a lot more.

      Saquon never made it an entire season. If he does, that’ll be good for the Eagles…we shall see

      Object is to win, not accumulate numbers

    • @jerryantaya1266
      @jerryantaya1266 Час назад

      Of course he would. He's gonna get 1400 rushing at least with half the carries. Also he averages 5.7 so that would put him 30 yards away.

      And the fact that we split runs is going to extend both of their careers in the NFL. Saquan always gets hurt. They use him too much.

    I’m still waiting to see Gibbs used in the downfield passing game. I seen him at Alabama the kid looked like a slot WR when he lead that team in receiving.

    I love Gibbs and Monty! Best RB duo in league. Gibbs reminds me of Barry with his soft spoken but a killer on the field vibe

    As always, love the content! I'm not sure there's a better content creator out there when it comes to breaking down non-QB tape.
    I think there are 3 major things to consider with splitting carries with Montgomery.
    1. Ensures both players do not get worn out in a single game and you can get full rested effort out of both on every play.
    2. Both players are good at running the ball and catching, even though they have different styles with the ball in their hands(Montgomery is averaging 0.5 yards per reception more than Gibbs on only 2 fewer receptions).
    3. This may be more me than the team, but when you have a team with Super Bowl asperations, by splitting the touches you increase the odd of both players being healthier for a playoff run than giving one player all of the touches.
    Bonus: I'm far from an expert, but I have to image having to prepare for 2 different styles of backs takes a lot more time and prep than just preparing for on, in addition, I think the ability to wear down a defense for 3+ quarters then mix is up with trying to catch Gibbs, and trying to tackle Montgomery creates a lot of challenges for defenses.
    I know a lot of things can be captured with stats, but sometimes you just play the game, and I firmly believe the game is harder to play on defense when the lions can switch Gibbs and Montgomery in whenever they please.

      You've saved me typing an almost identical comment. The only thing I would add, addressing the statement about Lions fans not debating who is better. Last year and early this year there were calls for Gibbs to get more touches. I think most of that died because of the effort of Sonic and Knuckles to present a united front. Competitive but supportive and encouraging. It takes the wind out of the sails of hate mongers when the people you want to present as rivals don't play that way. I also hope that part of the reason is because people have become more educated to the benefits of a viable committee but I suspect that's more hopeful delusion on my part.

    The Lions front office is changing the way teams use RBs. Get two so that way you don't wear them down like most RBs that way they can play into their 30s. Putting player health first

    • @martinbeaubien440

      This isn’t some new concept although it is rare to have two guys who are pretty interchangeable.

    • @bruin-ruin
      @bruin-ruin 8 минут назад

      Another factor is that having 2 good RB's with slightly different skill sets means opposing defenses have to operate a bit differently depending on who's in the backfield.

    Sure the system is keeping his numbers down, but both our guys healthy, if it was just Gibbs or just Monty, they'd be getting dinged up by this time of the year. Not to mention their combined TDs and yards are better than MVP frontrunner Saquon.

    Thankyou so much Coach. (I wish I knew your first name. You seem like a Bob, Chuck, or Tom, something simple to me)
    You have taught me more about Football and what to 'Look' for then anyone else.
    I am 69 years old and very grateful to learn more about Football. (because you are NEVER too old to learn new things)
    It had made the games to be a lot more exciting for me (and my wife) this 2024 season.
    And who knows the Lions & Ravens might be matched up in the Super Bowl this time around. HeHe (It could happen)
    You would have a Field Day showing us film on both teams during a Super Bowl,
    *SIDE NOTE:* Have you ever compared the teams from last season?
    You know the one game where the Ravens mowed down the Lions.
    I never knew what was 'Broken' that game for the Lions.
    Granted they are not exactly the same teams this year but their 'Cores' are very similar.
    It would be nice to see your film on that game.

    The guys numbers are lower, yes, because there are so many weapons. HOWEVER, they will all be much healthier, not beat up when it's time for playoffs.

    By using him for only so many touches a games is going to extend his career as a NFL players. When RB's have 3-4 seasons with heavy usage, they have nothing left in the tank. With 2 monster RB's splitting the load, you can extend the life of the RB's and have less chance for injury during the season. At least I hope that's the angle the coaching staff is going for.

    Him and Lamar are 2 of the only guys in the league that retain full body control while running full speed including the know how to time and set moves up. It’s more going on than simple reactions, what many analysts can’t grasp.

      I wouldn’t say it’s clear. Robinson is pretty damn good and he’s touched the ball over 50 more times than Gibbs. If the roles were reversed I don’t think Gibbs would have the numbers he has now. They’re both great players.
