It's really weird and hard to play cus guitar hero takes a lot of notes out of the songs that are played to simplify it and make it easier to play but that throws you off when you're a real guitarist. Carbonstyle72 more like different levels of playing, all instruments can be played at a basic level . a pity some who can only play at that level get called talented. this solo to me is basic in a sense, its the speed its played at that makes it sound impressive (if you watch his hands you will notice it's just a left to right or the other way round combo)

I find nearly all the drum patterns and fills pretty simple once I get the hang of it, but most of the time I want to hit the bass drum an extra time or throw in a ghost note on the snare out of pure reflex, which throws off my multiplier. Everything about using the drums for Rockband and Guitar Hero is set in stone with very little room for improvisation, which makes me sad.

Everybody needs to remember that this is with the stock drum set and no other addons. So no ION drum sets or what not, only the stock drums count as a world record.
for what it's worth this dude was doing dream theater covers on real drums before rock band 1 even came out. when the game was announced, he told me that he thought he could be the #1 drummer in the world in the game...I didn't doubt him, but it was pretty amazing when it actually happened, and then he arguably maintained that position for several years.
that was fucking EPIC! Nice job man. I can play all the parts to that song also, but to play it all at once for 11 minutes and not get wore out or tired. I'm not a real drummer, so when I rock EXPERT, I can only go hardcore for about 4-5 minutes and my arms and legs are toast. 10 out of 10 stars from me. Party on Wayne, Party on Garth, Wild Stallions Rule!
I can agree. I always thought that if I picked up the guitar and learned to play, I'd have an easier time considering I already have a good idea of what to do.
hey man same here! it was guitar for me, i used to play alot of gh when i was little, i could ace a few songs on hard when i was 9. i took up real guitar and my fingers could stretch further and I also had a good sense of rythym.
Maybe some of you have never been on a stage, but it can be extremely hot on a stage due to all the lights. Plus we don't know if he was playing this in the middle of a heatwave (could be since this was posted in july). And he might've been sweating beforehand. So can we please drop the fact that he's sweating and just enjoy the actual video....

Can play pretty much everything they throw on Guitar Hero's and Rock Band's, but I still enjoy the simplicity of Rock Band and Guitar Hero, especially when it's 3am in the morning and wanna rock out without waking up my girl. And it's a freakin' VIDEO GAME! You're prolly sitting there trying to play this song on Expert but can't eating pizza.
And seriously ever guitar hero record gets broken at Mercyful Fate. One of the longest songs, probably most possible points. Biggest score (full band) highest single guitar score, highest single drum score, and maybe more.
Guitar Hero is one of the very few games that I like. I don't see why Activision had to cease making the games entirely. If their argument was poor sales then they could just release 1 a year. This would keep fans of the music genre happy and still produce a decent profit for them as the market wouldn't be so saturated if they were still releasing 3 titles a year etc and diluting their profit.
Guitar Hero/Rockband drums are mostly like the real thing. If the guy can play these drum parts, it's likely he could at the very least play basic drums. Drums are mostly muscle memory, and aside from the cramped kit and lack of hi hat pedal, it's pretty accurate. Also worth noting, custom fills are a good way of determining if someone can play things that aren't charted.
I think in the same way :) i was playing this game for a long time and later i had no problem with real guitar and i had great sense of rhythm too :D Now im playing the piano and its great!
1. Buy the game. 2. Play the game. 3. Repeat step 2 ad nauseum (aka "over and over") If you follow these steps, you will have the ability to play GH (or RB, for that matter) drums.

I've sweated from this game when it was hot outside. One of the only games I can think of that ever did that as well.
You have to remember, it doesn't matter how hard you hit them. You move so much between your hands and feet that it causes you to sweat.
