Travis Scott’s music is not designed for the lyrical ability. it’s all about the vibe with the amazing level of production and sonically with his voice. Never be known as one of best rappers but definitely one of the best artist that raps
In terms of trap, it doesn't get better than this. The production is so ominous and dark, and Travis’ storytelling is amazing, it really inspired me to persevere in life and follow my dreams. I also love how he makes fun of the people intoxicating themselves and indulging in the druggy LA lifestyle while he was living there homeless jumping from couch to couch and focusing on making this album.
Travis Scott is the pioneer of modern psychedelic trap rap. The genre isn't generally known for its intricate and elaborate lyrics. The experience is more for the soundscape and "vibe". You can kind of think of Travis Scott's vocals as a type of instrument very often on tracks instead of lyrics. He was one of Kanye West's prodigies and probably the most successful one as well. When you eventually come around to listening to Yeezus, which was released before Rodeo, you can really notice Travis Scott's influence in the general sound. He produces most of if not all his tracks on Rodeo and he still does today.
Rocky and Cudi did that shit way before Travis. Travis may have made it more mainstream (although trap/rap generally moved into the mainstream). But saying he is the pioneer is more than an overstatement for an artist like Travis who literally based his entire style on three artists (Kanye, Kid Cudi & Rocky)
@@sV-ze7xi that's why i specified modern psychedelic trap rap. Cudi's sound isn't as dark and large in its soundscape and production, which makes Travis Scott so unique.
I still get goosebumps when i listen to rodeo, takesme straight back to when i first heard it. Also 90210 is one of my favourites all time Travis Scott songs
One phrase describes this album perfectly : "The more you listen to it, the more it gets better and more perfect" (keep in mind, it's perfect from the start, it just getting more "perfecter")
Travis Scott did mention that his music idols were Kanye west and Kid Cudi, which makes sense being that Travis Scott does have a sprinkle of both artists in his music!
When he said I think ok alright was the weakest on the album my mouth dropped on the ground haha. The 2nd part after transition always gets me. Great video guys!
You guys are not to old. I went to cali rolling loud last year and saw him there. First ever festival, one of my favorite artist. I then went and saw his circus Maximus tour in Vegas and then sofi the next week. Go fellas, you have to experience butterfly effect live!
Great reaction. The last two tracks are actually bonus tracks (extended version). The original Rodeo ended with the track Apple Pie, hence why the last two tracks seem a bit out of place. Travis Scott recently (i think last year) removed the original one and renamed the extended version to just Rodeo.
Think of Rodeo as a theme park. Each song is a different ride, but is part of the same park. A thrill is something that’s fun because it’s dangerous, which is why each track has a dark, unsettling undertone. His songs about partying and drugs are also songs about addiction and trauma: happiness and fun are not the same thing. This album is like a trap opera. There might not be a clear theme for people aren’t familiar with Travis Scott, but all the songs are snapshots of his lifestyle, the good and the bad, and are connected in a non linear way
If like tpab, you would love either midnight marauders or the low end theory by a tribe called quest. Quest is one of jazz raps pioneers, one of kendricks inspirations and definitely in the goat rap group conversation.
Maria im drunk is basically Young thugs track idk if you have reacted to thugga yet but he basically influenced this whole generation of trap including this album
You should 100000% listen to some of the weeknd’s work. House of balloons or after hours is a good start. House of balloons is more r&b sound, whereas after hours uses a lot of different sounds, influenced by the 80s
Love this album, also you might have thought the last two sounded out of place or slightly different, that’s because they are bonus tracks so the album technically finishes at apple pie. Loved the video guys👍

Keep doing the good work. 👍 also, can't wait for atrocity exhibition by Danny Brown reaction. 😊 sorry for being annoying and recommending the same Danny Brown album on your every new video. 😂 but Atrocity Exhibition is the epitome of experimental rap music. You're in for a treat!
Yh Travis Scott's style musically has a lot of inspiration from others, but the most in his vocal deliveries, rapping and singing is Kanye and Kid Cudi, he mixes both of their flows a lot of the times, production wise tho....bro hasn't disclosed his inspiration lol
Need some MF DOOM reactions! Madvillainy, MM.. Food, Take Me To Your Leader. I highly recommend the Freddie Gibbs & Madlib albums too! Freddie Gibbs & Madlib - Piñata Freddie Gibbs & Madlib - Bandana Freddie Gibbs & The Alchemist - Alfredo The Roots - Undun Some recs! There is so much to appreciate.
I think he falls under the infamous “Producer-Rapper” category alongside Kanye. Also Travis Scott has mentioned he makes music with the intention of performing
It’s interesting how you said you can hear Kanye’s influence on Piss on Your Grave. Kanye and TI (the guy narrating the album basically) discovered trav. He got signed to TI as an artist, and to Kanye’s label as a producer technically. I grew up with Trav actually, so I know a lot of this pretty intimately. He started doing a lot of production for Kanye. Travis 2 biggest influences are Kanye and Kid Cudi. So there’s a lot of inspiration there. But Trav started to produce, songwrite and just overall influence Kanye too. He has a lot of credits on Kanye’s album Yeezus (which you need to listen to asap), and those sounds are a lot more industrial hip hop sounding. And this is essentially a leftover from the Yeezus album, and you’ll understand that once you listen to Yeezus. So that’s why it’s a bit of an outlier on this album. Very brash, chaotic, straight forward lyrics. But this sound is kind of something that helped Trav influence Kanye with. I saw him come up from our high school to one of the biggest artists in the world. It’s insane. Once you listen to his other albums and other more recent artists, you’ll see how influential he is. Also, you mentioned his music sounds like it would go crazy in concert. It’s funny you say that, bc he’s known as one of the most prolific performers of this last decade. His shows are insane. Mosh pits like metal concerts. He brings live performance and energy to another level. Can’t wait for you to listen to more of his music. It’s all incredible. 90210 is most of his fans favorite song too. Arguably his best song and it’s the universally agreed upon by almost every fan lol so I’m glad y’all loved it. Keep up the good work. Y’all are my favorite new reaction channel. Bringing Turning the Tables vibes and I love it, very genuine.
Also, for context the last 2 tracks were bonus tracks on the Deluxe edition. Apple Pie is officially the last track. Never Catch me is short and a bit different bc it was used in some commercial or promo. Can’t remember exactly. And I think Ok Alright will continue to grow on you. It’s a lowkey and underrated song but most of his day 1 fans really love it. Let me know if I can provide anymore context about anything. Being able to be his friend for so long and be along for the ride with him at all his shows from a nobody to one of the biggest artists in the world was a blessing and a joy. Once again, really glad you loved this album so much
